What a great finish! I'm always saying "... but that's what decorators caulk is for" on jobs around the house too. I'm pleased you showed the costs because this sort of project is not expensive and it is the sort of thing people can have a go and achieve good results.
Great stuff as ever Keith. What I think I admire most about your videos is your brutal honesty, even when something doesn't go quite how you'd like it to. With a little creative editing you could easily hide them, but you don't, you talk candidly about what went wrong and how maybe you'd do it differently if a similar task presented itself again. It is refreshingly honest and I think it's great 😀👍
Ive been a second fix chippy for the last 20 years and thats been my motto for all ov them. "That's why they invented decorates caulk". HAHA keep up the good work and videos mate👍👍
You have done a great job considering you are self taught. Always appreciate the ‘lessons learnt’ at the end. Looking forward to the desk build, I have one of my job list!
Great finish to all your work in the bungalow. Having renovated a few houses over the years I've uncovered professional work that some of your commenters would be horrified by but that were always finished off to a high standard - 'that's exactly what fillers are designed for'. Enjoyed your work and narration.
The remodel looks quite nice, Keith. You did a good job. I am looking forward to watching the desk build that you have promised Rhia. Thanks for these past two videos.
The outcome is very nice . I like that the two rooms have different colour and the door is like existing there for ever . The base boards are looking very nice although it seemed to me very difficult to fix . I think a light colour desk would be perfect there . Great job as always and i really enjoy the video . !!!!!!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I am again impressed with your workmanship. Thank you for doing this video. I learned what I need to do when I finish off a wall in my Laundry/Work Room.
In this video I install architrave, skirting base boards and do all the taping and filling and decoration to complete the renovation works for the two rooms in our bungalow. At the end of the day Keith, its your home you complete the work how it suits you. There will always be some pro's picking fault but you are doing fine. The bungalow is really coming along.Easy fill is a great product,i use it for filling work projects and for home.
Some good tips in there for adding trim - measuring does not always give the best results, sometimes holding the trim in place and marking works the best.
Looking great mate and the Maine thing is u did it all ur self and learnt loads I bet. the carpet will be fine I moved lost of stud wall we’re the previous person built the wall on the carpet and u haven’t got to try to Mack good the flooring so much better if there nothing wrong with the flooring as u can open the room back up as one and no one we’ll ever no lol 😂 good job can’t wait for the next video and what ur making👍
When we moved into our current house 10 years ago, we discovered the previous owners had added a wall over the top of the existing carpet as well. We've since replaced the carpet on one side, and tiled on the other. So the only place left in the house with the original carpet is underneath that wall! We did have to cut the carpet along the wall before we could re-floor, which was a bit of a pain, but not a massive problem. The thing they didn't do in building their wall (which I think you did) is fasten it to the floor or ceiling. So when we went to nail on new skirting after replacing the floor, the wall is very springy and very hard to (hand) nail in the middle. Im sure a nail gun would get the job done, but we didn't have one at the time.
Anyone notice that at 3.54 it looks like Keith is just going down the wall next to the caulk line with his finger, I saw it the other day and had to watch it again.
I am so envious of you, I don't know how you do the work so fast. I'm not sure what you're doing to make it so fast or what I do that makes it so slow.
Hi Neil. None of it was fast, I think videos like this give the wrong impression. I was working on this on and off for 2 or 3 weeks as and when I could find spare time. Thanks, Keith
I'm fitting skirting in a garden room at the moment and to get it right takes a long time: scarf joints need to be flush, corners scribed, and for this job, 12mm packing strips fitted between the skirting board and wall to give clearance for the wall support struts. Taken about 15 hours so far. Should be ready for painting tomorrow evening. Doing a good job takes a while, particularly if you don't have a lot of practice. YT is very misleading in this regard.
looking really great, my wife likes the colour on the wall, what is the name of the colour you used please?. Keep up the good work look forward for more videos.
Keith another great job and well explained i like channels like yours because you show your errors . did you just paint the plaster board if so did you just primer and paint cheers Mark
Thanks so much for this! What filler did you use for the wood? Also, what was the paintable adhesive you used for attaching the architrave? Thanks again!
if you want to paint mdf put normal sanding sealer on it first that stuff is very cheap i use it on all of my builds to seal up my wood projects, seal it up, then the paint wont soak into it anymore and it will last longer. mdf also molds very easy. everything you make or build needs to be sealed. it makes a huge difference.
Nice job Keith, love the 2 different colour schemes , very classy. As well as This being able to claim tax for using home office for work, can you claim build costs against tax or at least her employer contribute ?
Is that the right way to say "caulk"? I never been confident the way I say it lol Hope you're enjoying your Milwaukee, all the same gear I got, nice project, looks good.
Small tip for the future, rather than using a compass to mark your scribes on the skirting, if you cut a 45 on the end it leaves you a perfect outline to cut. If it’s primed mdf it’s even better. 👍
Aagh....invest in a dust sheet Keith....really scary watching you apply adhesive & paint over your carpet...slide some cardboard under the skirting when painting !!!..........my other half would kill me if i did that....turned out nice in the end though !
Nice work and great video, Keith. I know the job is finished now, but thinking of you cutting in the wall paint at the ceiling reminded me of the triangular brush that was part of the kit that came with a Dulux non drip power painting system. The system worked beautifully the first couple of times, but after that it failed to perform well so was junked. The triangular brush, though, proved an excellent tool, which my professional painter friend now uses exclusively after I recommended it to him. If you are going to do more room decoration, take a look at www.amazon.co.uk/Dulux-Perfect-Edges-Triangle-Brush/dp/B002NQ08RE?th=1 and the comments.
Cheers Don. Difficult to see that on the image on Amazon, but it looks like it could be similar to a set of "sash" brushes that I have somewhere? They are great for cutting in too
I may have got the wrong one - but this link shows the one I was trying to plug. The brush does have a sloped end, like sash brushes, but the main feature is that it has a triangular cross-section, with each side being about 1 1/2 inches, which makes for easy access to corners and joins..
The only appropriate place for carpet is a skip. Carpet cannot be sanitized properly, it just becomes an archeological record of all the dust and debris in a house.
"Try your best and caulk the rest" is a joiners favourite phrase!
Nice job, rooms look very homely 👍🏼

What a great finish! I'm always saying "... but that's what decorators caulk is for" on jobs around the house too. I'm pleased you showed the costs because this sort of project is not expensive and it is the sort of thing people can have a go and achieve good results.
This has been very useful to me and I really appreciate your honesty and costings!
Great stuff as ever Keith. What I think I admire most about your videos is your brutal honesty, even when something doesn't go quite how you'd like it to. "loads of experience filling holes" said with a snigger. Nice Keith; very good follow-up to last video's poor turn of phrase.

Loved this series Keith!
A good job done
Thanks, Keith. You can't have the handle central on both sides as they are different sizes. No worries.
that's true, I definitely could have placed it better though 😀
Good video, I think you need a coping saw.
Great video!
Works for me.
Looks good 🇺🇸 from Winchester VA
Looks really good.
Cracking job.. And from being a yts painter... Your cutting in is spot on
Thanks 👍
Nice outcome Keith, just one thing I dislike, the bolt holding the slave door could have been done using a hidden bolt where the doors meet.
Thanks. I'm not aware of any that are hidden?

What type and colour paint is in the dining room?
Room is looking good,if you are running short of paint instead of brushing use a rad roller a little goes a long way.
Get a dual monitor arm for the new desk . They save so much space
I do on my desk, love it
Put a decorative vase with some plants( fake or real) in the corner where the fill plug on the base board is
Ok. Did anyone ask already? How strong is particle board for securing a security latch?
It's MDF, not particle board, and the screws go through the 12mm MDF in to the studs behind which is what provides the strength
Looks good😍
looking really great, my wife likes the colour on the wall, what is the name of the colour you used please?. Keep up the good work look forward for more videos.
Cheers. The dining room is Tranquil Dawn. Not sure if you meant the vibrant pink one? I don't know the name of that one, that was Ria's idea! 😂
What's the purpose of the latch? Sorry if I missed the explanation already.
With french doors, one is always lockable so that the other can open and close on to it. Without it, the latch on the door won't function properly
@@RagnBoneBrown Ah of course! I should have known lol. Thanks.
