Thanks for the bag mowing tip! I always thought that mulching was better, but I am getting killed by chamberbitter. It is SO resistant and it blends in with the other grass.
I live in upstate south carolina, and have centipede in my front yard. I have been following you and applying the same techniques as you. But I had a bad weed problem. I used atrazine and a 15-0-15 fertilizer in late may. The grass is looking good but I'm noticing some broad leaf weeds that didn't die out completely. Since watching this video I will apply another treatment of atrazine, and fertilizer. You have really helped me. Thanks for the information.
Thanks a lot. If the atrazine doesn’t help with the broad leafs you can spot spray them in a few weeks with the Fertilome WFZ and that will knock them out
Loving the content! I’ve been thinking about adding Celsius too my arsenal but haven’t pulled that trigger yet. The yards looking great man, keep it up! 👍🏽
Thank you sir! Appreciate you watching. Yeah if the chamberbitter ends up appearing everywhere in the next few weeks I will get some Celsius and do a video on it.
Nut grass is my biggest problem. It is relentless. Thanks for providing content on centipede. You are about the only one I’ve found that shares info on it. Most is on St Augustine and Bermuda.
I used Celcius (spot sprayed) at the lowest rate in 1.5 gallons of water in my backyard as a test. It smoked most all of the weeds I sprayed. It wasn't overnight success, but after about 4-5 days they started yellowing. I'm hoping it will stunt, or help get rid of, Bahia spots I have in my front lawn. My lawn was looking rough for a while due to high heat and lack of rain for almost a month. Once the rain came back, the lawn has really bounced back. Running my irrigation just couldn't cut it compared to the rain water.
That is great to know about Celsius. If one is going to spend that much on a herbicide, it better work well, haha...it’s great to know I can get that if I feel I need it. And yes there is nothing like good rain. I’ve been lucky so far this year with plenty of rain and sun. As a result the yard is looking the best it ever has. Thanks for the comment!
Hello, excuse me if this is a repeat comment. My original comment was posted on my iphone; I don't know if it posted from my iphone. First, your youtube channel is what I have been looking for for several weeks. You have discussed many questions that have been on my mind. To start, I begin growling centipede grass from seed in February. In my area, Melbourne, Central Florida, centipede sod is not unavailable. A few of the sod dealers told me they had never heard of centipede grass. I chose centipede grass over bahia, St. Augustine, and Bermuda because my research showed that centipede does not required a large fertilizer loading, requires less water, and the grass does not grow high. My original lawn (basically mowed weeds) was removed completely by a septic tank/drain field company that replaced our old system last year. I did not want the expense of adding a large sodded lawn with with either St Augustine or Bermuda. Currently I am 30-40% seeded, total area about 700 ft2. I prepare an area of about 20 ft2, usually 3 times a week. Germination is very slow. But the original plots made in February are lush with centipede grass. As my centipede lawn develops over the next several months I will have questions. Again, thanks for creating an excellent channel. Hemi
Thanks for nice comments. Yes the germination will be slow but it supposedly fills in nicely with time. Water and sun are your friends with the seed. Thanks for watching!
I've used changeup on lespedeza and it's worked great. I've noticed it grows most in my mower tracks so changing your mow pattern will help stop compacting soil where this stuff thrives.
Celcius is the way to go. Yes its expensive but you also do not require much when applying. It is my go to herbicide for centipede. Also works ok on poa.
In Raleigh NC... Another one to for chamberbitter is Southern AG with Trimec. You'll have to do two applications, approximately 7 days apart, but as a post-emergent it does an excellent job on chamberbitter and it's reasonable on crabgrass and other weeds. And I agree strongly with the bag mowing, at least well you're killing the chamberbitter.
It’s tough! If you want to attack now, Celsius is your best option. Otherwise it will disappear when the temps fall and you can plan to do some Atrazine apps next spring to prevent it
For chamber bitter, apply gallery (isoxaben) in early May pre-emergent. It is expensive but is the only good option. Celsius is worthless for this weed.
Should I be doing anything to encourage centipede to grow over the bare spots? I've got a few in my yard but they don't seem to be getting any noticeable improvement like yours.
The main things are frequent mowing to encourage lateral growth, no pre emergent in those areas, and build soil with Humic and make sure the bare soil doesn’t become rock hard. You could scatter some peat moss in those bare areas to encourage it as well.
I bag 100%. No mulching on my lawn. I rather put fertilizer than feed the lawn from mulching. It takes too long for the mulch to decompose and creates thatch
There is a herbicide called Sedgehammer that is labeled for kyllinga that is supposedly safe for Centipede although I have never tried it. Thanks for commenting!
@@CentipedeCentralLawnCare I've researched sedgehammer and will be getting it for the yellow nutsedge I have in my centipede. Pulling sedge is a big no no because it causes it to multiply. I was pulling it and it's getting out of hand. You are the first channel I found that addresses Centipede. New subscriber here.
Hey bud, thanks for the content on Centepede grass. I'm in south GA having to deal with the same weather you are and unfortunately threw down some Weed and Feed about a month ago right as the pump on my well went out that runs my irrigation. Needless to say I've got some yellow tinted Centepede that's attracting the wrong type of attention. I'm extremely new to all of this but am super interested in fertilizers, pre-emergent and weed control in general. Is there a way to reach out to you via email to discuss a few situations I'm facing with my lawn? Keep posting for us, great work!
As a "Click Bait Tip" I guess...don't put the answer to your video in your title. That way people click on it and you get to talk, do your thing and then give the answer. Then you get longer viewing time, interaction etc. Not being mean at all, just want to help ya out!
When you do Atrazine applications, do you blanket spray the lawn or just spot treat? I've been spot treating with Change Up, but it can sometimes damage the centipede.

Yes nutsedge or nut grass can be very difficult. If you try to pull it out it does no good, ha. Thanks for the nice comment

@@CentipedeCentralLawnCare Yup. Plus you barely use any Celcius at all when you use it. It will last a very long time.
It's been in my garden for a few years. It's frustrating because any amount of weeding will never get rid of it!
It can be very frustrating. It grows extremely fast as well. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info. I also have Centipede and it looks pretty good right now.
Thank you for watching!!
Good video. I have centipede grass and I'm currently dealing with chamberbitter and virgina buttonweed. Just sprayed msm yesterday.
Thanks! Appreciate you watching!

Lespedeza is main culprit in my cenipede. Heard change-up does a good job and is safe on cenipede.

Lespedeza for sure!!!! Change Up takes care of it.
It’s taken over our entire lawn. I’m just about ready to have the whole lawn removed and new sod out in. SO frustrating!
Get some Celsius!! It’s about the only thing labeled for chamberbitter that is safe for centipede. Link in description I think.

I’m battling this weed in my tall fescue in north Ga. ugh…
It can be a battle for sure. It’s a tough one.
The Celsius package insert says that it is NOT SAFE FOR FESCUE LAWNS.

This isn't the most difficult weed. That would be grassy weeds like Bermuda

I have it in Zoysia.
Celsius will knock it out and it’s safe on zoysia.
Just came here to sh$t on this weed 🤣 kidding thanks for the info
It's actually has many more benefits then that grass your trying to grow
Dallas grass is the worst. I use Celsius and it works great on chamber bitter and many more weeds. Be careful with atrazine in hot weather.
Awesome, it’s good to know Celsius works so well on chamberbitter if I need it this year. Thanks for watching!
Ya'll using Celsius to control Chamberbitter?
It’s supposed to be great at controlling it.
@@CentipedeCentralLawnCare ok. I just pulled the trigger on it. I've been struggling with buttonweed, oregano and now Chamberbitter. Fingers crossed.
Not sure about oregano but it is labeled for buttonweed. Thanks

Agreed! Thanks for watching
Torpedo grass says hold my beer 😂
Chamberbitter and dollarweed are the worst in my gardens. 😖

Yes blanket with hose end sprayer. Check out my atrazine video
