    Great tips Ken.
One tip I have is if you want to downsize sell items you have no connection to. Pick and choose what you want to keep.

For sure. I know I've done that in the past.

Also avoid jumping on the FOMO hype bandwagon. Buy what YOU want and don’t buy to simply be one of the crowd or to say “look what I have”.

Yep! I've trimmed the fat a few times. It clears up space, focuses your collecting habits, and puts money in your pocket.

I sold my first collection of vintage toys back in 2011. And the next day I was trying to recollect it all over again. I guess I'm just a collector at heart. Excellent advice Ken Yo Joe!!

    Great video.
I sold off 80% of my modern SW collection in 2010 and these days I only buy 6-7 SW figures a year. Sometimes not even that many. I collect a wide range of lines from different franchises (have always done so) and some of these lines I’ve completed and/or are happy with the amount I have (core characters) and stop completely. Like the NECA Predator 2 line for example. I just completed the Ultimates line of the Lost Tribe the other day so that’s it. Done. Predator is now a closed book.
I buy vintage figures too and I’m currently completing the original ST crew and once they’re completed I’m done with ST. Transformers (from Siege onwards) I only purchase modern iterations of G1 characters and I’m almost done with that.
I don’t socialise with fellow collectors and I tend to keep that aspect of my life out of my private life. I talk to collectors online and such but I never socialise with anyone who collects and when I go to collectors fairs etc I’ll say hello to the regulars I know or people from online whatever’s but that’s where it ends. I don’t hang out with them.
Selling!…..not these days. Waaaay too much BS you gotta go through. I simply just buy what I like and don’t impulse buy and regret it later.

Cool video. I had to sell off most of my Marvel legends collection around that same time. Very messy divorce then I got laid off from work and had literally no money for months on end. I never fully stopped collecting and like yourself when my life was more solvent I set out to get those characters back. Thought it would take me 5 years but I’m really close now after just a year and a half and a lucky purchase of a collection from a guy just wanting out who sold some great figures (and not so great but I still wanted) super cheap to someone who’d appreciate them. It’s been a ride for sure.

I collected the Commemorative (2000) and 200x/MYP Masters of the Universe lines. 20 years later, with all these toys living in the storage unit, I was at a point where I was ready to part with all but my favorites. And then the Origins line came out … and dammit I’ve now DOUBLED my MOTU collection. Glad I didn’t part with the earlier lines, but my goodness there’s just SO much stuff (and I love it) - no where near the space to display it all.

@@ToyKennections ain’t that the truth. But I’m thoroughly enjoying the journey while of collecting action figures again while the Origins line is in production.

I'm in this boat right now, I got 200X and the origins, plus 80s commemorative, and a load of transformers, it's all living in boxes, and has pretty much since I bought them, I'm ready to sell and have been saying that since mid 20teens. But still haven't pulled the trigger

Was just looking online to see if anyone else has had to sell off a collection. For me, I don't need money or anything like that. I just have a huge collection and it is hard to enjoy any of it because there is too much. I think I must have thousands of figures along with 30+ longboxes of comics.
Right now, I just need to decide on what will be the focal point of my collection. What will make it enjoyable and what can I let go.
In a lot of ways, it has begun to feel like more of a burden. So, I don't want to just throw up my hands and get rid of everything. I want to strategically pair down.

I just sold a buy of stuff for pennies to a store and I regret some of it but I cleared out a lot and paid down a credit card. I’m refining the collection I have left. You are on point about everything you said about selling. eBay sucks

Ive collected nearly 600 transformers figures and have no space for display and most are in totes. Ive been debating on selling some of it but will likely do it in small sections like 25 at a time. I have some that I couldnt ever sell so reducing the quantity to those that I actually love just seems necessary. Im not desperate though so a lowballer wont get far with me.

Thank you for this video. I've actually sold my collection years back to pay off some credit card debt when I got divorced. I then regretted it and bought pretty much everything back. Now I'm staring at my shelves 4 years later. I have no room and I feel like I wasted so much money. Should I even keep this stuff? So yeah I totally understand your video with this one lol

The only way I'll sell it all is if I'm about to be homeless or have to move into a nursing home, but I should to sell a lot of the the stuff that's just sitting in tubs. I think I'll need to get a table at a small con because I'm not on social media and have never sold anything online.

Just get renters insurance.. take pics of everything.. and go out of town and tell one of you very nefarious friends that you’ll be gone and there’s a lot of money in toys and whatever at your place and how the window will prolly be unlocked.. and how much you would love to not have that shit anymore.. then tell him you would even gift him some tat loot from the insurance just for being a friend.. but you can’t get that loot unless that shit gets stolen.. say it with a nod and a wink, he’ll understand..
problem solved.. and this last part is the most important..
don’t tell nobody ever.. it’s done, it’s done.. no need to rehash old news, ya heard..
      Good luck

I have a pretty big NASCAR, Star Wars, and Star Trek collection that I basically got for free as it was my dads and passed down to me once I move out. I also have mech warrior blueprints but 🤷🏻‍♂️.
Have no fuckin clue on how to sell or where 😂 but I wanna sell most of it. I know that one thing im definitley not selling is the Star Trek plates lol.

Selling to retailers will always result in way less than one expects when they give you pricing because they have to make profit
