I'm 40 years old, and the older I get, the less I care about what other people think of me. I love video games and 80's collectables. I enjoy them regardless of what the critics might say. I've seen people who collect 100's of pairs of Nike shoes. My Grandfather was a gun collector. I think people should be able to do what they want.
I'm 51 this year....51! and I still collect figures and make customs and always get pure enjoyment from it. When people say "Your to old to collect toys"....I come back and say "Really, I didn't know there was an age limit on having fun?" 😊
As a 30 year old newly single guy with no kids I personally think there's nothing wrong with it. I collect sports memorabilia, movies, video games and even fireworks 🎆 lol. I think the criticism comes from people thinking oh this person must live with parents or is a loser which is a BIG stereotype in society. To add to that who's to say your hobby/ investment could make you money 💰 one day. As always another great 👍 video.
I'm in my 40's and still a gamer. Have been since I was old enough to hold a controller and can still usually finish top 3 in any CoD match. It's an escape from the daily grind. Nothing ever wrong with that.
This video speaks to me so much. As a kid, I didn’t speak up enough to ask for what I wanted. I still collected though. Sure my parents sometimes talk about how my cousins and friends all have adult lives with work and families and stuff, but just because I haven’t reached that level doesn’t mean I’m childish. Telling someone to grow up won’t instantly change things, and I’ve heard that constantly. I know when it’s time to be serious and when it’s time to have fun. I grew up in a community that glorifies sports, and being an anime fan, and a fan of MegaMan in high school was unheard of. Someone even said the things I like are for two-year-olds. Once, I was told the games I play are for kids while everyone else plays Call or Duty. My mother still thinks cosplay and collecting figures are childish things. She watches reality TV, and the people on those shows act plenty childish.
I want to be that ambitious kid that is always bouncing in bouncy houses, watching cartoons like SpongeBob, collecting every single toy and game on earth, even collecting every single board game on earth I like to have this type of imagination because why not and when people say “grow up” they’re just telling you to no longer be fun and be boring but in reality you get nothing good out of listening to society so just keep being that kid that collects toys even if you’re 40
I don’t think that there is nothing wrong with collecting games and toys. For me I just love collecting and playing games. My family back then didn’t have the money to get them. So I had to work for what I wanted. So my collection has value to me in more than one way. Great video
You make such good points! My friend and I have similar discussions a lot. Her parents don't understand her collection of cute things and dolls. I also collect a lot of Nintendo stuff. I love your content and it's nice to see a fellow lady gamer/collector!
We get judged for this ALL the time, even by friends and family, but it's totally a double standard versus whatever they're interested in and it's a shame. For us, a lot of it IS getting and collecting that which we could never have in our youths. It's a sense of pride, of accomplishment, to feel we've worked towards that and met that goal and bookeneded something we once only dreamed of. Collect what you love, and don't judge others for their passions, and don't let their judgment ls shape you.
After reading the title of this video,I had to watch it. People care too much about what other people do. If somebody wants to collect toys and play video games until the day they die, that’s their business. As long as what people do is not hurting themselves or anybody else, then let them do what they want. It ain’t like it’s your money being spent on what somebody else buy,so why care so much? I’m in my 20s and have no plans on slowing down with playing games and collecting. So to all the collectors and nerds out there, keep doing what you love because we get one life. If people find it weird, childish,or cringey, then that’s a personal problem for them to solve.
@@king98popculturecorner exactly! Everyone should just be able to have fun and enjoy their lives without other people trying to control things that they do.
Not only dressing up in their favorite players Jerseys, but full on painting their faces. Then the same people turn around and criticize someone for dressing up as their favorite character from an Anime or game going to a convention.
My family didn’t approve of me liking “kid stuff”. I have severe autism so I didn’t progress like the “normal kids” when I was growing up. My family wanted me to be like my sister. But I’m an individual, I will always like Pokemon, cartoons and video games and that will never change. I’m almost 37 years old now and if people think I’m weird for wearing a Pokémon T-shirt, then F them! 😂
Film collectors, sports collectors etc as you say get no criticsm. I personlly dont care what people think, we are only here once. Do what makes you happy. My Dad collects model trains, which he also had when he was a kid. I guess he needs to grow up too! :-) Great collection, great video - don't stop. Keep going!
Collect whatever makes you happy. I don’t judge anybody but I see a small difference between video/board games and toys since the former you can still play while toys are more for display - especially if they are boxed. Great discussion though! I didn’t realize there was a lot of criticism of toy collectors.
The true take away from this is just do what brings you joy as long as it’s not hurting you or anyone else. So many things in life are aimed at bringing us down. Life is too short not to indulge in the things that bring you happiness
Being a geek and loving toys, animation, video games, and collecting VHS tapes, and "kids" movies on DVD and Blu-ray, i.e. the movies I grew up with, I've heard this soooo many times. Particularly in high school because my high school was a HUGE sports school and less sports-oriented pursuits were not accepted there. But, you know what? I didn't care. My parents and grandparents knew/know what I like, and they did their best to get those things for me. Especially because I spent so much time in the hospital when I was a kid and dealing with the fact that my heart condition might become critical very quickly. Or my asthma might overtake me, or whatever the situation was at the time. This stuff is my way of coping with my circumstances. Hell, I built an entire blog around the things that I like. I also agree with what you're saying about not being able to get some of the toys we wanted when we were kids because our parents couldn't afford them back then, because the majority of my current MIghty Morphin Power Rangers toy collection is made up of items that I couldn't have when I was a kid. Like the original Megazord, Thunder Megazord, and Tigerzord toys, as well as the original Ranger figures I missed out on getting when I was a kid. And yeah, it's about going back to a simpler time in our lives, but also knowing when you have to take care of the responsibilities you have as an adult. And there were so many video games I've never played because we couldn't afford very many of them for any of the consoles we owned, and alot of them weren't available to rent in my area because my local video store didn't have those games.
Lol, i guess im just a Klepto. My collection is almost at 1000 video games, 20 systems, 3 Kiosks, but I also collect VHS, DVD, Cds, Cassettes, vinyl, toys , Action figures, Hot wheels, books, Firearms, clothing, watches sunglasses, over 150 pairs of Jordans/Lebrons/Kobes , Pokemon & Sports Cards, I buy a lot of tools I dont necessarily need but I like to have. And I dont care what people say although Im leaning towards spending more on travel
Just found your channel and saw this video on the side. Its nice to meet another lady collector. I'm almost 50 and have enjoyed collecting since I was kid. Today its definitely geared more towards the adult collector. I'm huge Transformers nut and I can see where nostaglia is carrying so many brands.
I was really lucky that I come from a family of collectors and didn't have to deal with anyone telling me to grow up and not collect video games, tcg or action figures. I have been collecting since I was around 10 years old and started with pokemon Cards. I am 34 now and I still collect. If someone tells you not to collect stuff but is doing it themselves that is pretty hypocritical of them imo.
There was a time, I never wanted to grow old coz I loved playing games and reading comic books. I was born in 1980 and now I have so far collected things I couldn't buy or my parents didn't buy for me as a kid. Can't explain why I do it as I don't really play them I just collect them and they become novelty items but doing that bring this weird sense of satisfaction don't know what it is but it makes me feel happy :)
I'm 26 and as someone who has always collected things and has now also started collecting toys, honestly, who cares what others think. It's our money, space and time. It makes us happy so we'll keep on having fun.

Turned 51 this year. Started collecting a few things here and there. Mainly because of all the anniversaries for my favourite franchises and the collectibles that have been released celebrating them. I lost three family members this year, why not have a few nostalgic items that make me smile, time is short. I couldn't give a damn what everyone thinks.
Thank you very much Brandi great great video for standing up for us collecters you are our voice and I support you 100 percent sum it very well fan from California
I’m almost 30, I still collect toys and I’ll continue doing so until the end. I still collect video games too, but nowhere near as much as I do toys because I have always enjoyed toys more than I have video games.
Right now, I find myself buying a lot of stuff that brings back memories of life in the 80s and 90s. I bought one of those yellow Sony Sports Walkman a few months ago and started listening to cassette tapes and collecting them. I got back into collecting baseball cards, something I did as a pre-teen back in the early 90s. I also bought some GI Joes that I wanted as a kid. Next, I'll be buying a SEGA Genesis and a Game Boy.
The perfect summary of Videogame/ Toy collecting. Although I personally think it should be restricted to a side, on occasion hobby rather than a small way of life (regarding the ending)
I collect rock n roll memorabilia, I’ve never been asked about it, however I’ve just started collecting toys and I not only feel I need to justify it but I’ve been asked why….definitely double standards! Thank you for your wonderful videos, keep up the great work!
Im 50 and I'll never stop collecting games, toys and Comics. Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't have responsibilities! I have 3 children and I'm married and we all share the same collection.
It's all about having fun and enjoying collectibles. As long as it doesn't harm anyone there is no issue. And collectors actually do something valueable by preserving history.
Fantastic topic something that isn't addressed as much So I'm glad someone said it. I've been thinking about saying it myself for quite a while now Just never got around to it. But I made piggyback off you and do that because the more people that say it maybe it'll eventually get through to naysayers who just want to ruin other people's fun. Just because you grow up doesn't mean you have to stop loving the things that you love or enjoy. Honestly if I could go back to the simpler time and stay in that time. I probably would. Everything just seemed way cooler in the '80s and '90s social media is so toxic and frustrating sometimes I don't even want to look at a computer screen. I get it from outsiders I get it from family It sucks! And they wonder why I'd rather talk to people online who share my interest then socialize with him It's because they don't like what I like They don't understand it and they think it's a waste of money.
I do in doing what makes you feel happy as long it does not involve hurting anybody. I have a collection of board games, card games, and electronic games such as Simon, Bop It, and Tetris Bop It and it makes me happy. I sometimes like to watch old cartoons or even watch old Nickelodeon stuff on Paramount+ because it makes me feel happy. I absolute love watch the double dare reboot on Paramount+. I’m 43 years old I still today would love to get dumped with green slime and get all messy running through the double dare obstacle course.
People in there 40s proberbly had the best most interesting childhoods...80s 90s toys movies, music and gaming. Anyway im starting a money collection but im failing miserably
I’m glad I saw this video because I have always been drawn to my little pony I think they’re very beautiful and I see them as a piece of art they get to put in my house and look at looking at those figures just make me smile and the colors on them does make me just really happy
Im about to hit 44 on Thursday and I love toy collecting even if my kids say I'm just a big kid ,a lot of my collection is toys I had when growing up and toys my parents couldn't afford buying me plus i gotten in to older toys from before I was born .
I collect toys such as vtech, fisher-price, and leap-frog toys. one example, the vtech learn and dance interactive zoo. I even have a play school lullaby glow worm from 2003. most of the things I get are electronic. I'm not the only one doing that theres people like the electronic toy archive making hd audios of the stuff.
As long as you're a responsible adult earning your own money, I don't see anything wrong with toy/plush collecting! I've been collecting since 19 so around 10 years already. I don't think being an adult means you have to always be boring and serious. Have fun!
I bought myself a 1/76 scale Diecast hearse model considerably a toy and I was wanting to get a resin toy casket for my Diecast hearse model for my room display. I was called out for being immature and that I should grow up. 🙄
Just discovered your channel and I already want to marry you :-) I'm blown away by the quality of your collection. Regarding the topic of this video, I don't have much to add because I don't care about anybody that doesn't understand video game collecting or video games in general (the same applies to Toy collecting). I don't even understand them, I think they are somekind of weird creatures coming from out space. Personally I never got to know anybody stating those things although I guess they might exist because some people here in youtube (including you) say it. I wish I could get to know one of them, so that I could laugh loud at their faces when hearing those type of nonsenses. Keep the great videos coming!
My thing is don’t just collect only to put it in a box or just collect the rarest shit, take it all for yourself, and then sell it for a ridiculous price.

But it does because you collect toys does it mean you are a child is or irresponsible I think it’s funny that people think that because I think most people that collect stuff like that are the most responsible
"I'll rather collect action figures than a rap sheet." - Me (a very proud WWE action figure collector) Sorry, but I don't care what people think. They don't pay my bills, buy my food, or put the clothes on my back. What I choose to do with my money in MY house is my business.
You don't have to justify your hobby and your motivations. I can think of lots of pastimes that seem like waste of time and money to me but I just think 'it's not my money and being negative to people who enjoy a thing is wasting my own time'. My general thinking is 'do what you want, I'm not your dad' lol ... unless you collect swords. If you collect swords but aren't murdering people with them, that's kinda pointless.

I know right?! It’s wild. Thanks for watching. :)
Im 50 and I'll never stop collecting games, toys and Comics. Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't have responsibilities! I have 3 children and I'm married and we all share the same collection.
That’s great! Keep living your best life!!
It's all about having fun and enjoying collectibles. As long as it doesn't harm anyone there is no issue. And collectors actually do something valueable by preserving history.
@@robertolesen2349 oh exactly!! This is a great response!
Never grow up, never surrender.
I really identified with this video! I recently started collecting pokemon cards again and definitely get some funny looks when out shopping 😅
People in there 40s proberbly had the best most interesting childhoods...80s 90s toys movies, music and gaming.
Anyway im starting a money collection but im failing miserably
Oh absolutely! Some of the coolest stuff back then! And I’m sure good at spending it so I completely understand. Lol
Ah yes, the ol' gotchya... yah got me... haha, good video!
I'm in toy's and games like ninja turtle
I’m glad I saw this video because I have always been drawn to my little pony I think they’re very beautiful and I see them as a piece of art they get to put in my house and look at looking at those figures just make me smile and the colors on them does make me just really happy
Just have to keep doing what makes you happy! Can’t listen to anyone who is negative about you enjoying what you like!
Im about to hit 44 on Thursday and I love toy collecting even if my kids say I'm just a big kid ,a lot of my collection is toys I had when growing up and toys my parents couldn't afford buying me plus i gotten in to older toys from before I was born .
Oh absolutely!! That’s amazing. That’s what it’s all about!
i have the same batman tube tv! nice lol, mine doesnt have the dvd with it tho
So far I’ve been very lucky because my friends and family are very excepting of the things that I like and very supportive
Do what makes you happy and brings you joy. You only live once.
Exactly!
That’s awesome!
while a bit more limited, I love collecting for those games and series I love. People who frown at that seem like lame company
Thanks for posting this!
Absolutely!
As long as you're a responsible adult earning your own money, I don't see anything wrong with toy/plush collecting! I've been collecting since 19 so around 10 years already. I don't think being an adult means you have to always be boring and serious. Have fun!
Oh absolutely!! I agree with that! Live your best life!
I bought myself a 1/76 scale Diecast hearse model considerably a toy and I was wanting to get a resin toy casket for my Diecast hearse model for my room display. I was called out for being immature and that I should grow up. 🙄
Woah! That’s is insane!
Im 33 with a SpongeBob room. Ive gotten alot of people over to see the room.
That’s amazing!
Be cool to see you on collector's call tv show
Just discovered your channel and I already want to marry you :-)
I'm blown away by the quality of your collection.
Keep the great videos coming!
so jealous of your collection !! 💚
Thank you!! :)
Do and collect what makes you happy.
Absolutely!
Such creative videos you’ve on this channel. I just subscribed!
Thank you so much!!
Someone just left a comment on my new video that I was to old for toys. I love that they think I care what they think!
I get that all the time! It’s wild. People need to have fun and focus on themselves!
@@GamerAhmer I couldn’t agree more. I’ll never understand it. I always give give them a thumbs up and go back to my fun lol
I don't feel embarrassed about collecting toys, because most people at Toy Conventions are also in their mid 40s.
Exactly!
2:05 real
The one phrase, I have to listen to the most is: "When do you sell all the stuff, when it is that valuable?" 🙈🤢.
Exactly!
My thing is don’t just collect only to put it in a box or just collect the rarest shit, take it all for yourself, and then sell it for a ridiculous price.
@@ashcraft257 exactly. These items shouldn’t be as expensive as they are. It’s wild.
Good Lord. Is that what I look like with my Transformer collection? I'll sell them all this instant
Huh?
I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys "R" Us kid!!! Nuff' said...🙂
Yes!! Never forget!
I collect video Game's comic books Funko Pops and some action figures
Very cool!
@@GamerAhmera few weeks ago I went to comic con Got my Ben 10 protector of earth Game signed by Steve Blum I looked on the internet it looks like I own the only autographed copy of that Game I put it in a plastic sleeve/case to protect it
@@ComiccollectorGamer woah!! That’s crazy.
@@GamerAhmer yeah I'll Definitely protect it more then the others
@@ComiccollectorGamer oh I agree!
If being broke didn't stop me collecting, someone's little opinion isn't going to either 😁👍
You got that right! I agree!
I've been told snap out off it I've been told to grow up. collecting is the best thing ever happened to me Kevin Gijoe and stuff
Woah! Thats insane!!
For the love of art ❤❤❤
Yes!
THERE'S COLLECTORS OF COINS SHOES HATS WALLETS PURSES SPORTS MEMORABILIA MODEL CARS WATCHES VINTAGE AND CLASSIC VEHICLES DOLLS BOOKS AND SO ON IF YOUR A TOY COLLECTOR (ENJOY!!) COLLECTING YOUR TOYS IT BRINGS BACK GOOD MEMORIES FOR YOU AS A COLLECTOR AND ALSO ENJOY YOUR LIFE (IT'S YOUR LIFE!!😊😊)
Exactly!! Well said!
I'm 47 and I collect vintage action figures any one telling me to grow up no offense to any one who enjoys weed is people who smoke weed or who like there beer and alcohol some people just think it's a waste of money but do enjoy other things I have a big enough collection of toys action figures and comic books it seems that back in the day we were called children for keeping comic books or toys told it was junk I'm going through my comic books collection to see what I have that's worth money
More toy collectors out there less stuff golng into landfills
I agree!
I discussed this with a ex friend and he just said sport is a more socially acceptable hobby than collecting toys, I disagree
Your ex friend is correct
Now that toys are for adults 🙃kids are going to want them...
Absolutely!
I get told this daily grow up stop collecting all that stuff I really don’t care what my friends think it’s my collection stop with the butthurt
But it does because you collect toys does it mean you are a child is or irresponsible I think it’s funny that people think that because I think most people that collect stuff like that are the most responsible
I collect trading card games and hot wheels. I only go for the rarity of it. Idc if they called me a kid adult. Mind their business 😂
Exactly!
Sorry but I think most people don't understand the need to be surrounded by toys like that, not just some.
Definitely not for everyone. People enjoy different hobbies though.
"I'll rather collect action figures than a rap sheet." - Me (a very proud WWE action figure collector)
Sorry, but I don't care what people think. They don't pay my bills, buy my food, or put the clothes on my back. What I choose to do with my money in MY house is my business.
Absolutely! I agree with that!
You know when you have to justify something to yourself it’s probably time to change lol
People can do whatever tf they want, with the caveat that it shouldn't hurt others. How is her collecting vintage toys hurting you?
You don't have to justify your hobby and your motivations. I can think of lots of pastimes that seem like waste of time and money to me but I just think 'it's not my money and being negative to people who enjoy a thing is wasting my own time'. My general thinking is 'do what you want, I'm not your dad' lol ... unless you collect swords. If you collect swords but aren't murdering people with them, that's kinda pointless.
I cant understand how you would collect Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,, now if it was Transformers or Star Wars it would be OK. HAHAHAHAHAHA Just Kidding.. the Wife collects TMNT .. WE LOVE TOYS AND GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes!! Transformers are awesome too!
How able nooo
in my 40s...i think..autistic soi lost track...but i have 12,357 pokemon items..not including my card collection :) my entire room i just pokemon..im hoping to get the world record maybe before i die...anyone wanna help? heehee
That’s amazing! Definitely very cool. Start sharing your collection in the groups and on different social media platforms. You’ll get there!
I don't want to grow up... lol
Bahaha. Same!
I’m only 8😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Collections are great. Unless it's funko pops. Nothing signals "peak consumer virgin" to me like funko pops.
Yea Funko Pops are everywhere. People call them the beanie babies of today.
Because others do drugs and die hell why would that ever stop you because hey they do it to so it’s perfectly ok
Bro are you good?
