I love that in Disney's version Aurora actually met the prince before and is in love with him unlike the other iterations where he's just a random guy who has no relationship with her.
I said this in a comment on the old version and I'll say it again, Aroura has so much personality that people ignore, if you just watch the animation with the way she moves, her expressions, it's all so full of character, especially because one of those traits is she's kind of mischievous (in a lowkey way) which I think is really fun. honestly out of the original 3 Disney Princesses she is my favourite.
Well, in the original tale it was a flax seed that put her to sleep, not a spinning wheel. The original tale is actually. Really messed up (if you thought kissing a sleeping person was messed up its WAY worse what happens to her while shes asleep)
@@CherryBlossomBeats Charles Perrault wrote Damian Wayne's backstory and gave him a twin from Talia's POV effectively for that one...oh and Bruce does have an Uncle Philip!
@CherryBlossomBeats That's only one version though; specifically one prominent fairytale author. Don't know why he felt the need to add those horrible details. I actually came across an older version were there was a whole second half involving the prince's mother, who was an ogre who wanted to eat her daughter-in-law and grandkids.
My favorite version of sleeping beauty isn’t a cartoon. It’s a point and click series called Dark Parables. In it, she gets blessed with the powers of the Briar Rose by a flower goddess, which is why the castle gets covered in thorns when she pricks her finger. The prince’s kiss takes away the briars and the sleeping curse on everyone but her because he did it for fame as opposed to love. You play as a detective figuring out how to wake her up and stop the thorns from spreading out of control. Turns out the dark godmother wants to possess the body of Briar Rose so she extended the sleeping curse on her. The plot is foiled (idk how) and Briar wakes up. She then comes back in later games as a literal flower power member of Red Riding Hood Sisters, who are like these badass hunter/protectors.
Thanks for re-uploading this video. I remember watching the Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics version as a kid! Just like you, my top three are from Regal Academy, Disney, and Ever After High! Not only is Briar a party girl, but also an adrenaline junkie, and that's unique and hilarious!
Glad that *Jetlag* decided to be creative with a brunette Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty instead of the usual blonde. And they went even further with frizzy and textured hairstyles respectively, which I find adorable.
I like that Felicity talks to herself, shows she has an active imagination and probably doesn't have a lot of friends outside of Primrose. It's difficult for me to make friends as a kid and now, it resulted in me talking to myself a lot
Jetlag Productions Sleeping Beauty was one of my favorite films as a child. I especially loved how the fairies all looked different from each other (with the exception of two but I always assumed they were related), unlike the Disney version where they all wear the same clothes and have the same hairstyle, just in different colors.
Love your videos! But a small correction! The Princess’s daughter is named Aurora in the Perrault version and Disney also took her name from The Sleeping Beauty ballet where the Princess’s name is also Aurora!
Have you thought of doing a comparison for The Swan Princess? I would really like to see that, depending if there are more animated movies other than the 90s one. Same with Maid Marian. 😍
From what I know we have a 70 movie made by the Toei, all the Swan Princess movies, the anime Princess Tutu even if it's not exaclty an adaptation, Duchesse from Ever After High, a secondary character in Regal Academy, the Swan Lake ballet and its characters are also present in Barbie and the Pink Shoes.
my favorite is the fractured fairy one because when you look into it it's a relevant joke on walt disney at the time the prince is clearly a walt disney parody and this cartoon came out the same time as disneyland open
fun fact Aurora was my favorite Disney princess as a kid before tangled because of her design and I love how gorgeous the movie really is, and I watch the Disney princess movie with aurora gets a personality I wish Disney could do so much more with her.
sleep beauty was in this movie called snow white the sequel from 2007 its free on UA-cam to watch it's an adult parody of fairy tales and sleeping beauty and snow white and other popular fairy tale characters are in that movie
I wish they'd revive "Hapilly Ever After." And I really wish Disney used Aurora more as a character than a plot device. Same with Phillip. Plus I wish Barbie has gotten to do the fairy tale as planned.
That's literally Sleeping Beauty's job in her story - being a plot device. That is why the main characters in the Disney movie are the fairies and not her. It's a snoozefest telling the story from the POV of the titular character.
@0deadx21 Not really. Aurora could've been asleep the magic of the fairies allowed her spirit to assist Phillip to guide her while the fairies guarded her--kinda like how it's sometimes done in "The Legend of Zelda" (you know, but decades before those games came out).

You forgot to mention Silver the reincarnation and possible descendant of Aurora in Disney's Twisted Wonderland. I say reincarnation and possible descendant because there are theories floating around about the Twist characters actually being reincarnations of characters from their respective Disney film inspirations obviously with a few extra quirks that make them their own characters. Example: Deuce Spade is the reincarnation of one of the many Two of Spade Card Soldiers in the Alice in Wonderland animated Disney Film but has a scatterbrained personality and a passion for running and being a responsible student that it reminds you of the White Rabbit. Especially during his home festival event where he takes classmates to his hometown which is just the White Rabbit's little section of Wonderland from the film having developed into a small town where its citizens specialize in manufacturing clocks and other precision technology. And his mom Dila Spade is a delivery truck driver for a company that uses the White Rabbit as the mascot and motto of the company. With Silver he has elements of Princess Aurora and Prince Philip entwined in his personality and backstory, from naturally attracting small woodland creatures who help him with whatever he needs or willingly watch over him whenever his drowsy spells are too strong to fight off due to his sleeping curse, his princely demeanor and smile, to proficient Sword fighting capabilities and a knack for horseback riding and other Equestrian activities. And another detail that i think is a wonderful reference to Aurora is his eye color as it shifts from pink to blue in an almost auroral manner that the color is described as Aurora Silver. He is also unknowingly before book 7 the descendant of royalty.
