  • A TON of people have been asking why I bought property in Kyiv, Ukraine instead of anywhere else in the world. Property is cheaper in Sri Lanka, Bansko, Thailand, Turkey, and more stable in America. I go over the reasons including lifestyle choices, weather, growth potential, financial investment, permanent residency, and the pros and cons of investing here verses Portugal or other countries in this video.

      Lviv and other cities from the south west of Ukraine are STOLEN cities, just as Cernăuți and Rădăuți.
      They are stolen from the Austrian Hungarian impire that stole the regions from Poland, Hungary and Romania. The culture you are talking about is not Ukrainian. Learn more about history.
      The territories Putin took back were Russian territories given to Ukraine by Russia and now taken back.
      Ukraine does not treat minorities well and started to suppress the Russian minority by not allowing them to have their own schools, traditions and language. They have done the same with the Romanian minority that is living on her own lands for thousand of years in what it was Romanian Transcarpathia, Bucovina and Basarabia. Russian Moldova is also stolen land from Romania. Ukraine oppressed Romanians from what is now Ukraine as well. They were killed in huge numbers about 200k were executed and 400k were send to Kazakhstan and Siberia where many found their death. Just because they wanted to keep speaking their own language, Romanian. This was after ww2. Nowadays Romanians are forced to get Ukranised and will have to close all the remnant schools in Romanian language in Cernăuți and all other Romanian places by 2023. Cernăuţi is the birth place of Romanian poetry. Mihai Eminescu had living and writing there his most famous poems. Cernăuţi is a Romanian city for centuries but as of 2022 only 12% identifies now as being Romanian as they did their best to force this city be Russified first and after the fall of URSS to be Ukranised. So Lviv is everything but Ukrainian. Learn history before you talk.

      You have to be patient with these investments though. Ukraine is an oligarchy ruled by an obscenely corrupt pro-nazi government and more people are moving from rather than coming into the country, so you shouldn't expect property go up in value significantly in the coming years. But property prices in Kiev will skyrocket when Ukraine reunites with a big developed country that borders Mongolia and the US...

    it's nice how you try to be honest about everything , even the politics. Since u love food and u have tried food around the globe , u should set up a small cafe/restaurant somewhere. of course after Covid. i think your place would do great , perhaps something multicultural involving asian and continental cuisine.

    Hi Johnny thanks for sharing this great video . Really interested to hear your experiences of living in Ukraine. I’ve just relocated to Ukraine having bought an apartment in Kiev last August which we are renting . We decided to choose Odessa to live certainly for the summer 😊. Look forward to hearing more from you . Enjoy your nomadic life 🖖👍🙏😎🍻

      Hi from memory 2.5% of the purchase price . We rented out more or less straight away on an annual deal . Decided to rent another place in Odessa now we relocated here ( we were in dubai since 2009). Really good vibe here and loving the different culture, food, places , sights and people - a world away from the Middle East ! Take care and stay safe .

    In cold winter countries character is determined by hacking the long winters. For example, Montreal and Toronto are almost paradise between the middle of May and the middle of October. However, during these months those living there only show one side of their nature. Visit these cities in the summer and you do NOT see the other side- the extreme value of home life when it's -20 C or so during those very long dark winter nights. i like both the warm side and the cold side of those that live in the long winter belt.

    Yes it is still inexpensive in ukraine. But life in big city is very different from life in small town. Young peopke run from small towns into bigger cities because of literally poverty in snalk tiwns.

    When did you visit London, did you live there? I get what you mean about walking around in Sri Lanka, I like being able to walk and wonder around and jump on public transport, and that is more common in cities in the West. For me, I miss that side of things when I holiday in Sri Lanka, as I’d be in a car for getting from one side of the city to the other.

    The points you make about Thailand really resonate with me - I've been here on and off for the past 5 years, but the heat's always bothered me, and mostly I get out of the house at night only. Kiyv at first glance would seem too cold, and I would've picked a place somewhere in Mexico (DF) or south of Europe but I can see if you vibe with the cultural aspect of Ukraine that can be a big allure too, which is another thing I feel is missing from Thailand and meeting locals.

    • @jwh6540
      @jwh6540 3 роки тому

      Humidity and heat in Thailand and Philippines are a killer. Nice countries but honestly can't live there. Ukraine nice country but winters are brutal. I'll stick with the Caribbean and deal with the occasional hurricane.

    Yes Johnny, I really agree with you.. Your wishes very true for me too because of my own expectaions from the life .. All is nice in Ukraine also beautiful ladies ;) . To live in summertime very true also my point of view at northern countries for 6 months a year. İnvestment subject is also clever cause if you rent a house you will spend minimum 700-800$ a month and this money will fly but if you buy a house it will be investment for the future and you will not pay money for rent.. this is good idea bravo this is my plan in my mind also.. I would offer you İstanbul also cause I am Turkish and living in istanbul. The properties in İstanbul also very cheap because of economic crises in Turkey.. Congratulations and enjoy your life in Ukraine..

    Once Ukraine finally becomes part of the EU and joins NATO, this will be the main source of growth in Europe. Buying now is the best choice before prices shyrocket.

    • @JohnnyFD
      @JohnnyFD  3 роки тому +10

      I doubt Ukraine will ever formally join the EU and NATO as Russia won't want a NATO country right on it's border. So I'm not betting on it. Ideally Ukraine can be like Switzerland, completely independent.

    • @lkrnpk
      @lkrnpk 3 роки тому +3

      I'm sad to say that even though I like Ukraine, Putin has done everything to block Ukraine's path to both EU and NATO. Even if the richer part of EU was eager to continue to spend on bringing new regions up to the standards, they do not like countries with border issues... And Ukraine will not just give up on Crimea and Donbass for EU/NATO membership. Hard for me to imagine EU would want to include a country which has active conflict vs rebels and Crimea in limbo. Same issue with Georgia or Moldova...
