Hi Sue, I have been making mosaic art for 3 years. I really enjoyed this tutorial. I learned about flowers! I looked each one up. I also learned about a snow plow as I don't live in cold country. I like the way you brush on silicone to the substrate but sometimes I get brush strokes under my glass, I guess you don't have this issue. I never knew about a knife stone. I also like that foam! Thanks for all! Much love. And if someone reads this, please push LIKE to support this channel.
Your piece is absolutely beautiful! I am so glad I found your videos. I am new to mosaics, just finishing up a second piece. I have learned so much from watching your videos and definitely plan to watch them again while I make this garden mosaic. Thank you for being kind enough to share your knowledge and skill.
I am just seeing your videos and watched them all. I love your style of mosaicing and your teaching method is gentle and thorough. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have so much scrap glass and can't wait to try this!
This is so incredibly beautiful and watching the entire process has been pure joy. I've created mosaics but decided I wanted to try using stained glass instead and came across your video - would you think I was crazy if I said the final piece is so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes? Thank you so much for sharing your process, I've learned so much and your piece is just beautiful!
Thanks so much Sue, I so enjoyed watching this series of making a garden mosaic, and the result is simply stunning. So kind of you to share this with everyone and I feel very inspired to give it a go.
Just amazing Sue, it looks brilliant. Mine had a bit of grout bleed so I obviously didn’t use enough Silicone, but will next time. Do you scrub down all your pieces afterwards? Libby
Thankyou for your excellent inspirational how to Mosaic series ,having worked with stained glass for 10 yrs I had never ventured into the world of mosaics now after watching your vids I finally attempted and completed a mosaic for the first time and on mirror ,a thoroughly enjoyable experience all thanks to your videos I’m left with one question how do you mount / hang /affix your finished piece ?
It’s such good news to hear that you enjoyed the videos and have been able to follow them and make something. It certainly uses up your stained glass off cuts. There are glues designed for using on mirror and depending on the size and weight you can get some long picture hanging hooks online or you can glue the mosaic to a piece of wood and hang that way. I have all my fittings made so for the long thin panels I have metal spikes with a flat panel to which I glue the mosaic. You could have one of these made by a local engineer but I also sell in my online shop. However, postage has now become extremely expensive internationally especially to the United States. For fixing items to walls you can buy mirror clips which do tend to rust wiring weeks so I also have these made, mine are slightly bigger and in stainless steel. If you email me through my shop website I can send images of the things/clips to look for. Sue
Wonderful of you to reply, you made me laugh when you mentioned the offcuts, absolutely !! thankyou yet again for the tips and I will head over to your website .Kind Regards
I have the ground stands made for these but you can buy self adhesive hanging pads online. I sell different ones in my online shop. You glue the panel onto the metal ground spike carefully with silicone or any other mirror suitable adhesive. sue-smith-glass-mosaics.myshopify.com/collections/fittings-and-stands
Hi Sue. Another great video. What brand of diamond hand pad is this please? It looks superior to mine. Also, the source or brand for the brushes? Thanks so very much.
Hi Sherri, the brushes are actually a cheaper type of flat head filbert. I will look at the pad name tomorrow. I also use whet stones/sharpening stones. So long as the glass and stone are in water/wet it’s works just as well.
Depends on the grout but usually it will be fine after 24 hours. Just to make sure before you submerge it, test it the grout with a sharp object to make sure it is rock hard.

I do. I thought at one time I thought it might not be necessary but once I had given it a good scrub down it was much cleaner and sparkly.
Fabulous.
Beautiful, I would love to try and make this!
Why not give it a go, maybe smaller with one or two flowers to see how you get on before starting a bigger piece. Sue
Thank you
Thank you, beautiful work. Where can one buy the base from?
Thank you so much ! How to hang a piece like that on the wall ?
So beautiful xxx

This is simply stunning!! How much would a piece like this sell for?
It really depends on the design, size and colours used. If the customer wants personal symbols hidden through the mosaic.....and so on.
How do you add fixtures to hang it?
I have the ground stands made for these but you can buy self adhesive hanging pads online. I sell different ones in my online shop. You glue the panel onto the metal ground spike carefully with silicone or any other mirror suitable adhesive.

Lovely work!! How long do you let the grout dry before submerging?
Depends on the grout but usually it will be fine after 24 hours. Just to make sure before you submerge it, test it the grout with a sharp object to make sure it is rock hard.
I don't understand how that wire brush doesn't damage the glass? 😩
Can you tell me what glue you use please?
I use silicone.
