Hello Julie! To answer your question, I bought that grinding /sanding stone and have used it for ceramics and porcelain. Keeping the dust to a minimum with the stone in water. Thanks for the tips and tricks! I even bought the compound nippers and boy does that help a lot!

I have used a deli slicer for 16 years; have all my digits, but am a bit afraid of power tools. Once it warms up, I will buff my gazing ball outside with the mask and who cares what kind of mess I make! The garden hose will take care of that! I can tell that you are at ease with the power tools. Baby steps! Dremel today, drill tomorrow! Still want to drill circles, that looks too fun! Ha!

Regarding smoothing your tesserae....you do not have to sand down every piece you cut, unless you want to, of course. I sand down sharp points, jagged edges, and even sometimes when I just need the tessera to be ever-so-slightly smaller in order to fit into a space. Hi Lynda! I often use a Dremel on sharp edges - especially ceramic and porcelain - and it works great. Have you tried all of the different grinding nibs? You could also try a file although I like to use that method when the tesserae aren’t attached to the substrate. An electric glass grinder also works well. What about the bottom end of a piece of porcelain or China where the ridge on the bottom of the plate rests? Can that we sanded down so sit sets flat on the design?
Hi Tammy! You can use a grinding stone but it'll take a while....like, a while-a while.🙈 So you'll want to use something more robust. A hand electric grinder with a coarse disc might be more of what you're looking for. Keep creating and I'm thankful you're here!🔥

I found a bag of glass tiles at either hobby lobby or Michaels and the glass is rectangles, actually kind of thick almost like a quarter of an inch, and I'm wondering how would you go about cutting material that thick? Any suggestions would be great!
