My interpretation of all the flashbacks is that those are the beginning of the journey for those characters (helga, thors, Leif, askeladd) the moments those characters decided to move towards a goal and last we see thorfinns making that step.
This was also my interpretation. It's the moment those characters set off to pursue their lifetime-defining mission or goal. Such a masterpiece of a show!
None of my friends really watched Vinland Saga with me so I had no one to talk about it with. The ones who do don't get it as much. I've always gone to reaction channels like yours to compensate and yours is one of the reactions I watch because I feel like I'm watching it with some friends. This one was a nice season. See you in season 3!
Thank you for introducing my comment. I was very surprised but very honored. I'm Japanese, so I was a little worried if my English was correct. lol I want more people to know about the existence of this wonderful anime. Thorfinn finally got his real life started. Let's all pray together that Season 3 will be made someday!!
This episode was just phenomenal. How everything ended where it started (and it's not even the real ending yet cause there's a tougher journey waiting for Thorfinn from here on out). Plus the whole episode just made me smile throughout for everyone in it. Just in overall incredible season despite some flaws. - Thorfinn's reunion with his mother was just beautiful. Thorfinn's VA killed it with his voice when he broke down crying. - Leif finally at peace (and our man deserves it) after fulfilling the promise he made to Thorfinn's family that he will find him no matter how many years it took. - That touching scene between Thorfinn and Ari (the young guy who really looked up to Thors and blamed himself for getting Thors killed by Askeladd's men). - The hilarious reunion between Thorfinn and his sister (that killed me) but also the touching scene between them while they were looking their father's weapons chest. - Einar being welcomed so warmly and getting approved by Thorfinn's mother as her own son. That was deep and our dude Einar deserves it. - Bug Eye's best episode (this dude will shine even more in later seasons) where he showed his supportive side to Thorfinn. Plus he's a great comedian as well. - The whole scene around the fire with everyone with Thorfinn telling the things he encountered in those last 16 years including how it changed it for the worst and for the better in the end. - That scene by that slave's grave (who Thors saved at tbe begining of S1) with the beautiful aurora surrounding Thorfinn. Seeing how it played such an important role to Thorfinn's character here now just blew me away. Plus seeing Thorfinn with his dad in that vision overlooking Vinland was just incredibly beautiful. - Lastly, the whole montage at the end of everyone with new characters who we'll see in S3 alongside Thorfinn's new appearance made me overjoyed on what's to come in the future.
My man Thorfinn got pummeled multiple times by guys like Snake, Bjorn, Akkeladd, Thorkell and the guard who punched him 100 times and always kept coming for more, only to be knocked on his ass and rendered unconscious by a single blow from his sister Ylva. Perfect storytelling. Ylva truly is Thors' daughter and Thorkell's grand-niece.
I am sad they didn’t include the scene were he said that he really wants to keep his beard and Ylva says he shouldn’t worry and then cuts the whole thing off (together with his hair) and he is so embarrassed XD Considering this it’s strange that he never just let it grow back in the future. Guess he didn’t care that much about it in the end or he realized not having one is more practical? Maybe he sees it as a outward sign for everybody that he is different because having a beard is as a must-have for men in this era. So him not fighting (which is also not optional but something expected of men) together with him not spotting a beard later on really fits together. And now I am ready for season 3 and Sigurd!
Great job this season with the commentary and discussions.👍Critiques from many other reactors on this season's about face were as telling as they were disappointing.
I feel like it’s not out of place because it’s a product of the setting, there’s more light-hearted and comedic moments because that tends to happen when you’re with family or surrounded by genuine people as opposed to being a young viking in nonstop warfare or a slave on a farm.

Life-changing journey. Take notes everyone, kindness is free!
Walmart thorfinn trying to take his reunion with thorfinns mother is prob the funniest moment of this season.

You know sometimes it's easy for me to become cynical about things, but the fact that there are so many like minded people feels good.
In the same boat rn 😂
I finally got my friends to watch Vinland Saga and they all loved it just as much as I did, it just goes to show how amazing this masterpiece truly is
I believe Ari lost his tooth when he was slashed by Askelad on that fateful day on the boat.
oh wow i didn't even remember him getting slashed
I really enjoyed this season, like with the storytelling, character development, and parallels are just incredible! I enjoyed the reactions

PEAKKK!!, thanks for the reaction
I like the idea of Einar being a secondary protagonist, it just makes sense

The reversing time moment showing that when men and women make up his/her mind to decide and fight.
Season 3 will be even better. Thats the insane part. This series is goat'd
You guys should look back on the season 1 ending. We have Einar now, 2 more characters to go :D

Leif is the real MVP, without him there would be no family reunion

thors might of been your father but he wasnt your daddy aka askeladd
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇯🇵
👋👋 Thank you for watching :D
The comedy may seem out of place, but actually the arc after this one can be pretty damn funny.
Ylva legit ruined the ep. It could've been a somewhat emotional reunion but she just had be a bitch for the sake of a dumb anime trope.
... sadly
