I never get tired of West Side story
Me neither
West Side story breaks my heart. I cant watch any version without weeping for their love and its hopelessness, Spielberg did justice to this masterpiece, i just am addicted to both versions, there are not the words…young love.
Too bad the new one did not win
so true
How on earth could this be bettered !
It can't.

@@guillermoguzman2953 I liked Spielberg's remake but the original will always be legendary
The way they look at each other... 💞
So what, says Red Zac...
Beautiful
R.I.P. Natalie Wood 1938-1981
💃🏽🇵🇷😇
Miss her
"I love you!"
"Yes! 😊"
It makes me giggle because it reminds me of the time I was very sleep deprived, and my husband said he loved me, amd I sleepily responded with "you're welcome".
A classic musical that is still Legendary today.
What a great movie!
Love,super songs,super singers duo.
Thanks.
I don't know why but I just love the close up on their face when the other one is caressing their face.
And I don't know why, but I've also really liked that simple 'I love you' from Tony
This is the most beautiful thing,to hear the sound of Tonight.
I love this movie. ❤️
Me too,
Eternal classic ❤️👍👏
So true
0:54the music so beautiful always makes me smile
il miglior film dj tutti i tempi
Both balcony scenes are great
😍 beautiful ❤️
Just astonishing even today!
My favorite scene in the 2021 version which we absolutely loved ❤️
My own storyline
Tony walks
His head looks up and see at the sky
5:02 Tony(Richard Beymer) : I love you
He hears a voice
Maria(Natalie Wood): Yes
Natalie Wood is in the sky with the other WSS stars
Rest in Peace, Natalie.
Way to go, Natalie!
Nothing beats the original
This is in dedication to this movie, not to put it down - if you don't get the reference to this song, watch Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 'Romeo and Juliet' movie:
"What is a youth, impetuous fire
What is a maid, ice and desire
The world wags on
A rose will bloom, it then will fade
So dies a youth, so dies the fairest maid.
Comes a time when one sweet smile
Has its season for a while
Then love's in love with me.
Some will think only to marry
Others will tease and tarry
Mine is the very best parry
Cupid he rules us all
Caper the caper, sing me the song
Death will come soon to hush us along
Sweeter than honey and bitter as gall
Love is a pastime that never will pall
Sweeter than honey and bitter as gall
Cupid he rules us all
A rose will bloom, it then will fade
So dies a youth, so dies the fairest maid."
Best version
West side story good movie ever 10/12/21 in cinema 🎥
Doesn't top the original.
@@gaynor1721 you saw the original broadway production?
Boa tarde, uma obra prima do cinema. Adorei o vídeo.
WHY? Freaking why, does every clip of this scene cut the singularly most powerful lyric from this scene?
"Good night, good night. Sleep well, and when you dream ... dream of me. Tonight!"
❤
If possible please consider adding subtitles,English ,French, and especially Korean or more....so others can enjoy these epic musicals🎶
Tony sees Maria on the fire escape after the dance.
Wall-E watches “Hello Dolly,” but I watch this.
Just saw Spielberg version:a Masterpiece!
Should of had well known Actors as leads ! Would have done Much Better 🍿🎥
As nice as this sense is just remember these two just met and there already talking about getting married.
Well, that’s the case in Romeo and Juliet too. I think the point of it is supposed to be that they’re so sick of the feud, and the relief and thrill of finally finding someone who shares their desire for peace causes their feelings to accelerate faster than normal.
@@12classics39 as understandable as that is, they could have spent a little more time thinking about their situation and how to change it and less time contemplating their would have been wedding. If they had it’s not impossible that they would have gotten the ending they desired.
The west-side of belle mead 😇
goodnight best time ever worst party ever put tough night trust me
Beautiful scene, but Spielberg's version definitely tops this in terms of cinematic prowess; I was completely swept sway buy it. Also the voices of Tony and Maria match better in the new version in my opinion. If anything, I am grateful for the new version so that amazing soundtrack gets a refresher.
Nothing tops the original.
@@gaynor1721 have you watched all of the 2021 version?
Nah, the singing is better here. Rachel Zegler's a fine soprano, but she has to do most of the heavy lifting for the 2021 version of Tonight. Ansel's no tenor.
@@romxxii Ansel is a baritone.
@@gaynor1721 Agree 💯 Nothing Tops Natalie Wood !!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🩹

Ummm is it just me or is that white girl with tanner on faking an accent? I know everyones like obsessed with this movie but literally no one in the comments is pointing this out? am I the only one who wishes they didn't cast white actors as puerto rican characters?
WOKE
no it's not just you, others have commented on it. It's disappointing but in spite of that (surprisingly) This is still a really good movie. If it's any consolation, Rita Moreno, the actress who played Anita in this movie, actually is from Puerto Rico. She's in the 2021 movie as well - just turned 90 and is still a powerhouse.
This movie and the original broadway show had their faults as far as casting ethnicity goes, no question, but they were both masterpieces for their timed both broke down a lot of barriers as to what could or could not be seen in a musical (racism had been confronted in the past but never on the level, and characters had died but never on stage/screen). And now because of those earlier barriers that had been broken down by the original one, future productions (like the 2009 bilingual broadway revival directed by Arthur Laurents (playwright who wrote the libretto for the original show) where the actress playing Maria came from Argentina and had couching to sound more authentically Puerto Rican and where Lin-Manuel Miranda (then only of In the Heights fame before his Hamilton fame) worked with Laurents and with Stephen Sondheim in translating the lyrics and lines for the Sharks and the 2021 movie directed by Steven Spielberg that likewise had the Sharks speaking half their lines in Spanish and likewise didn't provide anyone with subtitles) can continue to break down barriers to keep the show as relevant now as it was then.
Yeah, her Spanish sounds horrible
