I'm a larger busted woman and I found that the way a rebozo wraps around the upper body to carry a baby or small child on your back is perfect for supporting and possibly somewhat flattening the bosom - without having to wear a small person on your back. The wrap pattern is very comfortable, supports the bosom and -Amazingly- keeps the girls from flopping around when you run or jump. It's made using cotton fabric cut slightly on the bias, and wraps around the body numerous times (at least 2 to 4) over your clothes, but can tied in front or back. I am trying it out as an undergarment using a lot less fabric than what is needed to carry littles on your back. I am trying to figure out an easy to wear bra based on the rebozo wrap. Available regular and specialty bras have way too much elastic, padding, underwires and provide no comfortable support and sports bras offer absolutely no support unless you want to fight more elastic. And even then, the girls flop like dying fish out of water. While a regular rebozo will make the thorax (upper body) appear thicker, It is so comfortable that I, for one, don't care. COMFORT OVER FASHION!
As far as technique, I just Google rebozo and tried different ways. I prefer to start in the front, pass in back, then do the "cross your heart" in front a couple of times, one more pass around the ribs then tie and tuck loose ends under the rib band. You'll probably want a narrower and shorter wrap since you're not carrying anyone or anything in the wrap. So far, I have decided I'll need to hand-sew one on place after wrapping and cut either the front or back, but making the closure after and getting it to fit comfortably without using elastic is a challenge. Plus, I'll need help sewing the back in place while it's on. What I like best about the wrap is my girls are comfortably supported and separated, and I don't get a uniboob like I do with commercially made bras. And there's no need to mutilate your body.
This reminds me of a pattern that has 'sling supports' which some people who make it adjust or leave off because it can flatten especially with compression stretch fabric. It's Muna and Broad's Banksia Bralette pattern.
I am a trans guy who is quite a bit larger, just in general, and especially in the chest area and i LOVE historical fashion i dont know why it never occured to me to use a modified corset-ish/stay typs pattern. Youre genius. I will definitely modify this and try it myself!
As a big bob person I'd say this will make your chest appear smaller but definitely not flat. If you had some sort of cushioning that would push the breasts outwards, this would also make the garment flush rather than betraying the curves of the breasts. If you wanted to get really advanced maybe a kind of wire frame? That would hold everything in place and create space between the chest and garment
im just interested in sewing in general, so here are some tips for larger chested binder-curious sewists: You will need to lengthen the boning in the front. since there is a larged mass prodtruding forward, you will need a longer line to connect visually from apex to bottom of rib. in addition, youll need a thicker band or even a tankini top to help smooth the side and back lines. i would also suggest making it slightly tighter towards the top so the mass is smooshed down. last tip, add a few more boning channels and keep them more vertical to compress, ray pattern will compress but also push UP for larger mass.
For anyone with access to an H&M store - they occasionally sell proper binders. If they currently don't, they have a sports bra that is the best binder I have ever seen. For anyone curious, DryMove collection, one colour, simple cut, has three small seams down the front, following that same boning structure idea. The problem with compression binders is that breathing is kinda nice, and if you're bigger chested, it pushes them down and can be painful. Any sort of bra or sportsbra that lifts them up usually makes them bigger, not smaller. That one specific bra from H&M does exactly what you described. Up, and to the side/spread out in general. Hella comfortable to wear all day long for any kind of activity. They do have removable padding, but it's incredibly thin and you can just take it out. No visible nip slip, which I appreciate. Suitable for bigger chested fellas, for maximum effect, I suggest going down one size and getting some of those bra extension hook thingies to give you more width for your ribs. They're affordable (10-20 bucks) and frequently on sale for half the price when they drop new colours. Considerably improved my mental health, finding proper de-tittyfiers was fairly life changing. 🥲🏳️⚧️
One thing that's kinda underrated is just wearing some sort of undershirt with your binders (and corsets). Historically people would always wear an extra layer underneath corsetry and other undergarments that had boning in them to make them more comfortable and wearable for long amounts of time with less chafing ^^ might help with any comfort issues you're having with this project, but i haven't tested it myself so take that with a grain of salt
Honestly as someone from Florida I just recently started doing this and it is a game changer. I only did this because I remember my ancestors did for work clothing and of course historical fashion. I put terry cloth between any folds because as a nurse I’ve seen a lot of unfortunate skin infections but seriously, under layers are a game changer.
I may not be trans, I may not have wanted to bind before, and I may not know why this video was even recommended to me, but seeing this video has awakened something in me and I don’t know what. It might be gone in the morning but at least I have this knowledge
also want to remind that some folks just like to reduce/bind their chest for the aesthetic! A good amount of the time I bind as a genderfluid person it has no deeper meaning other than I feel like it makes my outfit look better. Learn about yourself, don’t overthink it, and use safe binding practices if you do feel so inclined!
@@maezgordon7254 yes! I’m pretty sure that’s what it was. I just like the idea of being able to have that look and comfortably too! Clothing has no gender, not even chest binders and we are not what we project to the world
@@kaynugro Yeah I'm a genderfluid person who wants the option of having boobs for some outfits/styles and not having them for others. This style of binder would be great for that flexibility!
Wait… this is so clever! The way undergarments worked in the 1800s or whatever was to combine both padding and tightening to get the right silhouette. Therefore, it makes sense that a binder should pad out areas that give a more “masculine” silhouette as well as reducing the visual appearance of the chest
I just thought we had come further in the past 200 years but no, people still care about arbitrary concepts of masculinity and femininity, leading to girls harming their bodies playing dress-up.
This is very much what I decided to switch to a while ago. I was inspired watching some of Bernadette Banner’s videos on older fashions and how they actually achieved a lot of body shapes not by squishing things in, but rather padding things out. The Edwardian style in particular helped me figure out how to remove the shape of having two lumps on your chest, instead making across the chest and from the shoulders to the belly one more continuous smooth shape. Also, “Oh these? These are just my vertical ribs. What direction do your go in?”
i'm a cis dude, i do not run in these circles, i have no idea how i got here. but very cool, i wouldn't have ever guessed you had boobs if i met you wearing that. and the logistics are actually very impressive, well done!
My chest is huge enough that companies don't really make binders designed for my chest size (either I'm sizing down and can't breathe well or I can feel the sweet dripping off the bottom of my boobs down to my stomach and that sucks)....anyway, this is inspiring and I'm thinking I need to try it! Thank you for the innovative idea!
Fyi you can use zip ties with the ends cut off for boning! it's what my mom uses, she's a sewingtist that works in mostly renaissance styles. Also, I would KILL to have a window placed like that. Also suggestion for boning poking through- victorians would wear slips over their corsets to hide any boning or unsightly edges from poking through clothing.
needing a flat chest is when my bad posture comes in handy i wear alot of hoodies oversized shirts etc and because of my bad posture my chest looks flat
i cant explain the feeling i felt when i saw you make a corset/bra combo and imagined making and wearing one myself. I can however express the utter fucking desperate need to make one, especially as a gym rat.
I am not trans, idk why this got here but its interesting to get to know other people's struggles, nice video, and really appreciate that people can talk openly. I hope you can manage to get what you need to feel better with yourself
I made a binder inspired by this video and have a more than consequent chest... It worked so much better than expected! and is extremely comfortable! I used lacing to close it in the back, like on my corsets, and it works very very well! thank you so much or this.
@@theboxygenie Not that much. Not to the cut. Adjusted to size, and I didn't use elastic or mesh. Used cotton and linen for breathability and cross lacing in the back for adjustability .
This whole video is a revelation with introducing a whole new potential way to bind (for me at least), but more than anything I’m going to take “my beloathed” and RUN WITH IT
Sewing tip for anyone that decides to make this. Add a layer of this quilt batting cut the same as your othe fabric layers it to smooth the look of the bones and that problematic transition to the straps under a fitting garment
@@jeasperrr one of my friends that is in the same position as me actually did it last month. Next time I see her I wanna ask her about her experience. I wish you the best!
when you said boning my jaw dropped because that is so smart. I'm enby and don't like my chest, and I use stays a lot for historical fashion, I like the flat chest conical shape it makes because the boning, so this is right up my alley.
This is genius. Why can’t big binding companies pick this up?!? The lives and ribs of so many trans kids would be saved man 😭😭 This summer i’ll def be making this!
Honestly as someone with bigger chest the compression binders have been difficult due to their small arm holes and almost a pancaking of a rather large fatty mass 😅 it’s looks very unnatural and clear you are a trans man or other person who is binding large tissue so I feel like boning would solve many of those issues! Plus they even have corset covers to help smooth out the boning bumps or internal boning. I love your idea of using boning and stays as an inspiration! I love historical fashions and honestly it reminds me of the silloutte padding and menswear corsets of Dandies or even some of the tight Jerkins of the Tudor period that who were often made fun of for their vanity but clearly were common practice in garments that remain. It’s lovely! ❤quite creative and a good solution!
I love the idea of a binder that relies more on built in structure than compression to provide the desired silhouette! Another historically based idea: padding out areas? Padding has historically been used along side boning and compression to change perceived body shape. I'm sure a clever and creative person that is more textile inclined than I might be able to incorporate that into a binder! I am quite lucky to have already had top surgery, but I absolutely love this video. Cheers!
Honestly that’s what I do. I actually have done it for my Dad for a long time and he helped and suggested stuff for me because while as a trans guy I’m actually a bigger weight class and almost taller than him I transitioned more recently (I’m almost 30 😅) so obviously quite past my puberty and ended up becoming quite curvy like my Vietnamese grandmother (idk WHAT she got going on but she built like a BADDIE lmao 😂) which is cool but obviously as a trans man a little ackward clothing wise 😅 so my Dad is very helpful. I mean he is too. My moms ass look like she got hit real hard with the door on the way out it 🤣 I definitely got stacked in the back from my Dads side. Anyways, so he has had to use and have me assist in adding padding and etc to help him disguise some of his really bad scars and injuries from a bad accident he had from poking out and just general better fitting/silhouette.
Reminds me of this post I saw about how someone’s parents wouldn’t let them get Ken dolls so they turned one of their barbies into a boy with a haircut and also by wrapping tape around the doll’s midsection to make the abdomen the same width as the chest. One of the reblogs said “middle surgery”
A cis woman here. (don't ask me why I'm here, it's like watching pet advise videos despite never wanting to own the pet. It's just interesting. But also I kinda like cosplaying male characters, so it might come in handy) I just had a huge realization and flashback to when I was younger and still went to school, when you spoke about the fatique thing. I remembered wearing too tight bras because I had it hammered into my head, that I need them to shape my boobs and my parents didn't have enough money to always buy new ones when I grew. After a long school day I often felt so dizzy and fatiqued, because I struggled to breath. Sometimes I secretly opened my bra, when it got too much. I often jumped in joy when the disgusting metal piece underneath the polsters finally pierced the fabric and I could just pull it out. They hurt so much. Finally some years ago my parents found a really cheap pack of sports bras and I WAS SO RELIEVED. They didn't bother me after a long day. But I still like to not wear a bra at all when at home. To sum it up, I have huge respect for you to try to solve your problem with your skill and even help others with the same problem. I'm sure you can improve the small flaws in the design soon. Good luck!
I found out today that an appointment I made 4 months ago with an endocrinologist was cancelled b/c the clinic doesn't do transgender services, so I'm gonna find my stays pattern and modify it to make a binder for myself tomorrow to make me feel better. Thank you for the inspo!
I have seen some quite big breasts tamed to near-invisibility by 18th century stays, so this is DEFINITELY viable for different chest sizes! Compression is less of an issue than location and elasticity- corsets can compress a LOT, but it’s distributed over the entire ribcage, and because they’re not elastic there’s significantly less compression when you exhale. I can tightlace and still be fairly active and comfortable for many hours, but just layering sports bras for a flatter chest feels like I’m being strangled
Any recommendations for people who make such shifts. I'm cis with a larger chest than I would like to have most days. Because of proportions it has just become about impossible to find bras that are comfortable and give a nice shape.
@@ulhi7564 my first recommendation for such things is always r/abrathatfits (trust me) but I’m afraid I don’t know anyone who does commissions for this kind of thing :/
I am a cis woman, absolutely no gender disphoria here. I do, however, love sewing. I'm not great with boning or any kind of structured work like that but it's awesome to see people trying to find new solutions for binding! I also have a trans sibling who binds and for a while the safety aspect of compression binding has been worrying me while we shop for new binders for them and we look through the bruises and warnings online... Great job!
I'm not transgender, but I subscribed solely because I thought this solution was really creative + your channel name fucking killed me. Good luck on your transition!!
This is so cool to see. I do historical costuming and most of the Victorian/Edwardian eras were about building up the body to the shape YOU want. And it makes me so happy to see that being used in a modern capacity here! To hide the boning in a lot of corsetry they would use 'corset covers' which often had frills to puff out the chest and conceal, howeverrr I imagine one could use a slim-fitting tank top (like a sportswear one, that fits real snug and smooth but doesn't compress) to help hide the boning in outer layers! Great, funny, and informative video! It warms my heart to see how you used historical dress to fit a modern need
Yes, a corset cover-like undergarment is my idea as well. But I'd rather use an undershirt made out of a woven material (a tube with straps is enough) instead of a modern sports undershirt. Jersey as used in most modern shirts is just so elastic due to it being knitted and form fitting. Woven undergarments act more like a slip dress and cling to your outer layers instead of your body. Ikeas humble and cheap unbleached bomull cotton works for that or even better linen for added sweat and smell protection (linen is kinda magic). Great pillowcase project, too.
That reminds me of the time I wore a corset (the modern ones that do NOT take my size into consideration at all) and I remember thinking “that would make a decent binder if it wasn’t so feminine looking”. It’s nice to see someone actually make a binder using historical corsetry techniques.
Hello everyone! I wish my grandma was still alive so she could help me make this. She always made bras and stuff for my mom and aunts and cousins, so I'm sure she'd be able to.
I’m a cisgender ace girl but man I want my tiddies gone so bad😭 I never asked for theeese. Imma take heavy inspiration from this and see if anything like this is possible for me despite chest size and all that cause this is so creative and cool
Oh, I understand you. I also want a flat chest. I always hunch, cz as a teen I was insecure about them, but now it's just a habbit. I just think if I had it flat, mb I would stand with strait back? I also recently decided to go for more gender neutral look, so flat chest will also help -_-
I am aroace and agender and i don't want my tiddies either 😢 like whyy are they there?? I have no use for them they're literally just sacks of fat on my chest that make me insecure
For a log time I've been very on the fence on whether I'm actually non binary and don't want a chest or if I'm just being weird, but the amount of gender envy I experienced watching this vid is insane. Thanks for clearing stuff up I guess?? Now I just gotta find a way to help myself until I can move out and afford top surgery ha.
As an enby myself, I personally don't need top surgery as I don't particularly *hate* my body, I just don't like for other people to see it. I like to present as androgynous or genderless, but there are big issues with both my body and my face. I also can't cut my hair short because I look really feminine with very short hair when my face is fully exposed. Anyway, none of this is exactly relevant to you, but I want to wish you luck on self discovery and fulfillment, and I do hope you can find what works best for you ❤.
Love that the algorithm popped this out to everyone all at once XD but awesome work, and it reminds me a lot of the "better binder project" which is another boned binder project
This has given me the inspiration to try to make a custom binder for my best friend!! He’s amazing and has such hatred for his feminine traits so I hope that a binder that’s similar to yours will help keep the dysphoria away!! I haven’t heard him complain much about his binder, mainly about cost, so perhaps I can try gift him one! Love your explanations and ideas you received from different source materials, I’ll check them out!!
IMEDIATLY SENDING THIS TO MY BEST FRIEND OH MY GOD- His binder just came in the mail and he's so sad because he said that he loses his breath regularly and he can't wear it to school because he studies the whole day, so it hurts a lot, so I will be making one for him!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Oh my god this is GENIUS!!! I can't use binders because my chest is too small, yet just visibly not a normal guy's. Saving this video to see if I can make one myself, THANK YOU SO MUCH
I'm Cisgender and have no intention of binding, but one of my friends sometimes forgets to take their binder off when sleeping and I feel that this could help to make them be less at risk of suffocating. Thank you for this.
I'm not sure the risks are the same since this has the elasticy back but you are recommended to not wear corsets/stays overnight so I think this should also be removed when possible but it certainly does seem safer to not take off if that's going to happen anyway.
If anyone with big tibbies makes this pleasseeeee let me know how it goes. I have a binder but I got bigger and can’t really fit it comfortably anymore and I don’t wanna spend the money on a new one just to wear it like twice a month lol. If I could wear this as a bra replacement when I go out that would be incredible. I think my tibbies are like the main thing that people see when they look at me so I’m constantly misgendered.
in the meantime if you dont want to just sell/give away your current binder you could try expanding it! you might add a panel in the front or back (depending how the binder is shaped), or potentially symmetrical panels under the arms (that way the fit around the neck/shoulders shouldnt change as much)
It sounds silly but I think if you crochet/knit a stretchy tube top (think like the 90's sort of style) then wear that over top of your bone binder, I think it might hide those markings P: I've crocheted a few bra/binders out of normal acrylic yarn and it's surprisingly comfy and good for flattening your chest out :) Just keep in mind it'll make you rather hot, since it is yarn X'D *edit:* UA-cam glitched and won't let me reply, so I'm gonna write this here: I would crochet a rectangular piece (like you're making a scarf) that just barely goes around your chest. I'd make it so it *just* meets in the front with the ends barely touching. You want it wide enough to cover your belotheds and to reach halfway between them and your belly button. That should help give the flat illusion I think. Then, crochet a chain/string and go over it so it's a little thick. You can then thread this through the 'scarf' ends and you have a crochet corset :) You can reinforce the ends of the corset/chest piece by crocheting over the ends of the corset tightly but *ONLY* on the ends where they meet at the front of your chest, as you still want the rest to have a little stretch (we're making this to be comfortable after all) This is just off the top of my head. I'm actually crocheting my idea out now to double check it'll work but I think this should make a comfortable binder :)
Holy- I love to crochet!! I don't know if you are able to, do you know where we could make a crocheted binder or if you have a pattern? That sounds awesome. Hope you have a great day
I’m gender-fluid and can’t do any kind of binding at all because my parents are transphobic, and they would definitely notice if I tried. But I thank you for creating this video for others who can and will make this to help them feel themselves. Have a good day/night. (I also literally had to make a separate UA-cam account to comment this because I can’t have anything LGBTQ popping up on my for you page 🥲)
Hi! I’m genderfluid, too. Stay strong & please remember you’re valid. From personal experience- it gets easier. After staying persistent with my parents they’ve slowly started coming around. If you aren’t in a situation where you think that will happen, you only have to go until you’re ~18 before you can really be yourself. Try to get as many LGBT+ friends as you can & find spaces where you can start being yourself. Have a good day/night, & stay strong, because you aren’t alone 🩷🤍💜🖤💙
I love all of these confused comments 😂 I figured I was rec’d this video bc I’m into sewing, historical fashion/sewing/corsetry, etc. And I love that it was bc I’ve had similar thoughts about if stays could help with disguising my chest on days when I need it. I’m more gender-fluid so the idea of reduction or full removal is always the hardest toss up haha This is a great solution! 😊
the algorithm really liked this video right now lmao. i love that this was suggested to me. not trans but love learning about binders. always found them interesting. love this idea, seems very useful.
This is such a good idea! I actually bought one of those bodices to wear as a sports bra/low key binder. It works pretty well. For a bigger chest, using more study fabrics might help give it more compression/structure. One of the bodices I wear is single layer cotton. It's lightweight, but doesn't flatten much without lacing tighter. The other one I wear a lot is upholstery fabric and a canvas or duck type fabric. This one gets much flatter even with looser lacing. It takes DDDs down to nice pecs. Maybe the big chest dream combo is softer cotton with a layer of duck between? Going to have to experiment.
Dunno why the algorithm is blowing this up now but honestly this seems genius and I hope it becomes more publicly known, feel like it would help people a LOT. Also, gotta throw ya a sub, from one Dorian to another.
Just found you, that voice difference between the recording and voiceover was like a book slapping me in the face, wow! Congrats, and I know this video is a year old, but I hope you're doing great and this was a very interesting watch! You're real crafty, cool stuff :D
Hot tip, don't need artificial whale bone, just get large thick zip ties. you can look up the specifics online but my mom has made many a historical boned garment in this exact way, infinitely cheaper.
Personally still struggling to find a way to bind and look like I have a flat chest. I have god damn DD's and I don't mind having them I just really REALLY want to be able to pass in public and big breasts dont exactly help.
I've been thinking about something like this ever since I started watching historical dress youtubers (bernadette banner mostly) and thus thinking a lot about historical undergarments for the be-boobed. I've not done anything with the concept myself because I have almost no sewing experience (besides some shoddy mending I've done) and trying new things is ~scawy~ (also sewing machines are expensive and hand sewing is time intensive), so it's really cool to see someone else has gone and Done The Thing! Perhaps someday I will get over myself and make my own historically inspired binder thing (and also see how well it works on different body types bc uh. yeah mine are NOT as small as yours lol) but for now i'm glad that there's proof of concept out there (I assumed that *someone* had done this before but this is the first I've actually seen any evidence)
Dorian, with your next chest support garment you might try to put pieces of wool felt between the boning, so you erase the depression between the channels. then you could even use another piece of wool felt over the top, and then cover with your cotton-- think about how bulletproof vests are made. You achieved the silhouette you wanted, now you just have to hide the tools. You did a great job!
I'd wear something similar to a corset cover instead, it's way lighter and allows you to wear this in more seasons comfortably. Plus this doesn't do anything to help hide the edges of the garment. I use an old button-up I've cut to the shape of an undershirt; it's light and adds a bit of extra volume under my t-shirts to obscure the lines of my stays. It's a fairly tight-fitting one to start with but not as much as a knit undershirt would be.
As someone who only occasionally hates their chest, and someone who is small, this genuinly seems like an awesome alternative! Taping and compression never really worked for me and I am sick and tired of hiding them with clothes 10x my size
"i have tits and i dont want them" who is this dude, why is he in my youtube recommendations, and why is he so concerningly relatable even tho im cis? also that cat is adorable 👍
I am cisfem but I am considering sending this to my enby & transmasc friends who have struggled with the same issues with binding/taping. Thank you for making this video!
It's like a reverse bustier! Oh i love this idea - as an enby who is ....a little over endowed than they prefer most of the time (and plus sized at that), this process really gives a good starting point for where to experiment. Also your more recent voice is so lovely, good luck on your journey!
As a cis guy with minimal ability to sew, I doubt I’ll ever use this. Thanks! Also, as a gay guy, that first shot with the binder was very cute-guy cute. Do with that information what you will.
Ik this was posted like a year ago BUT if anyone watching comes across the same problem with the bome poking at the top, sew a peice of thicker, stretchy material(spandex should work just fine) about an inch below the tip of where the bone is(over the rest of the fabric obv) then pull it upwardss kind of tightly and attach it to the straps. This should push the bome down a bit and make it much less visible :) (make sure you use a relatively thick material though because the thicker it is, the better itll hold it down and kind of smoothen out the shape of the bone)
Very cool video. And I love your Little Delinquent. 🥰 Quick reminder with historical clothes: stays and corsets went over a chemise made of linen to keep the support garment clean. And in the 1890s they had corset covers that went over the corset and under the shirt to hide the lines. I know it's a lot of layers but a linen tank top and another tank top over it might help. I love historical clothing because it creates the shape through padding or structure instead of squishing the body.
You're a genius, it looks great! If you (or anyone else) want to make the boning less visible, I think another layer may help. In Victorian times they had 'corset covers'. I think that a tank top of a thick, woven fabric like linen or cotton canvas could help smoothe out the boning lines and make it look like you're just a very fancy dude who cares about layering :)
I do have a larger chest, so I'm kind of curious if anyone with a different body type already tried this... if not, soon enough I'll try this out and let everyone know how it looks
thank you for the binder innovation, my dream is a binder that smooths the silhouette you were talking about but offers some relief in the form of pec shaped stretch panels above that to sell the beefy chest illusion. i mean we have the mass why not USE IT. why do we still suffer the boobloaf, the bricktit, the unnatural smooth mass of everything all just mushed together up front there until we yet again manually adjust it for the nth time that day

let me know how that goes!
Thank you, this is super useful info! Is there a specific tying technique that you prefer?
If this works for you, you should post a pattern somewhere. I bet you’d be successful on Etsy with it if you wanted to make money
As a big bob person I'd say this will make your chest appear smaller but definitely not flat. If you had some sort of cushioning that would push the breasts outwards, this would also make the garment flush rather than betraying the curves of the breasts. If you wanted to get really advanced maybe a kind of wire frame? That would hold everything in place and create space between the chest and garment
im just interested in sewing in general, so here are some tips for larger chested binder-curious sewists:
You will need to lengthen the boning in the front. since there is a larged mass prodtruding forward, you will need a longer line to connect visually from apex to bottom of rib. in addition, youll need a thicker band or even a tankini top to help smooth the side and back lines. i would also suggest making it slightly tighter towards the top so the mass is smooshed down. last tip, add a few more boning channels and keep them more vertical to compress, ray pattern will compress but also push UP for larger mass.
thank you
Ah, so that's wrong with my current binding corset. Good to know.
Good to know! I never would’ve guessed they’d have something reasonable! I’ll keep that in mind! Ty!
finally, the reverse corset
GUYS WHY IS EVERYONE FINDING THIS VIDEO TODAY?
comments are from like, 10 minutes, 39 secds, 24 minutes
WHAT !?!?
Yeah! Like, I’m not even trans but i clicked anyways haha
IKKK
@@muuid1sk same i was born as a girl and currently a girl
but i mean, nice to see poepl be excited by their own creations !!
Sending hugs. I get you.
also want to remind that some folks just like to reduce/bind their chest for the aesthetic!
I just thought we had come further in the past 200 years but no, people still care about arbitrary concepts of masculinity and femininity, leading to girls harming their bodies playing dress-up.
so everyone else just got recommended this video a year later too?! cool.
pretty much
yup
apparently 🙃
His voice changing half way through the video made me literally scream, MY GOD the happiness of hearing a trans mans voice before and after LOL
The voice drop between video and voice over Dorian! Wow! It really made me smile. I'm very happy for you
Your craftsmanship reminds me of an artwork I saw meant to look like an advertisement for binders set in the distant past, "the gentleman's garment"
reminds me of marlowe lune's illustration!!
Also suggestion for boning poking through- victorians would wear slips over their corsets to hide any boning or unsightly edges from poking through clothing.
bro had an audio glow up mid-video
needing a flat chest is when my bad posture comes in handy i wear alot of hoodies oversized shirts etc and because of my bad posture my chest looks flat
i cant explain the feeling i felt when i saw you make a corset/bra combo and imagined making and wearing one myself.
Did you make any significant adjustments? Or does Dorian's method work for you?
@@theboxygenie Not that much. Not to the cut. Adjusted to size, and I didn't use elastic or mesh. Used cotton and linen for breathability and cross lacing in the back for adjustability .
This whole video is a revelation with introducing a whole new potential way to bind (for me at least), but more than anything I’m going to take “my beloathed” and RUN WITH IT
Sewing tip for anyone that decides to make this. Add a layer of this quilt batting cut the same as your othe fabric layers it to smooth the look of the bones and that problematic transition to the straps under a fitting garment
The way my jaw DROPPED when I heard your editing voice over. Also this is incredible! I’m so glad you showed up on my fyp
idk why youtube decided to push this video to literally everyone but let's fucking go dude

I’ve also thought of it. I could write a whole book about why I dislike them but I’m not trans lol.
Do it. It will help so much, it’s your body.

It was so funny, never seen such a dramatic yet nonchalant change lol
when you said boning my jaw dropped because that is so smart. I'm enby and don't like my chest, and I use stays a lot for historical fashion, I like the flat chest conical shape it makes because the boning, so this is right up my alley.
I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to mention it but Omg the voice change midway through gave me dopamine. I'm so happy!
This is genius. Why can’t big binding companies pick this up?!? The lives and ribs of so many trans kids would be saved man 😭😭 This summer i’ll def be making this!
As a teen who identifies as a male... I never found a video so relatable ;-; "I want them gone" SAME BRO, I HATE IT
Great video, great job! I think more people should take historic stays into account when they're designing chest binders, that's a good idea.
i've seen a pretty direct adaptation by dearhyacinthus on instagram! they look really nice 😊
I’m looking into making a strapless version of a binder using stays as a base for patterning
i love how most of the comments are less than 1 hour old from the time im writing this. youtube really just pushed this one out to all us gays huh? 😭
But also I kinda like cosplaying male characters, so it might come in handy)
I just had a huge realization and flashback to when I was younger and still went to school, when you spoke about the fatique thing.
Good luck!
this one video accidentally creating a summoning circle for all transmascs that activated a year after the video went up:
it took a year for the summoning circle to be made _clearly_
People with small boobs are so lucky.. binders actually work.
Great job!
The voice difference for voice-over Dorian made me gasp 😭 im so happy for you (and admittedly jealous) im glad T is working for you!
I have no clue why this 1 year old video is suddenly trending rn, but this was really interesting. Good job.
Why did we all get recommended this one* year later at the same time?

I do not miss binding at all since getting top surgery.
I want that so bad.
Congratulations

Love that the algorithm popped this out to everyone all at once XD but awesome work, and it reminds me a lot of the "better binder project" which is another boned binder project
This has given me the inspiration to try to make a custom binder for my best friend!! He’s amazing and has such hatred for his feminine traits so I hope that a binder that’s similar to yours will help keep the dysphoria away!!

IMEDIATLY SENDING THIS TO MY BEST FRIEND OH MY GOD-
His binder just came in the mail and he's so sad because he said that he loses his breath regularly and he can't wear it to school because he studies the whole day, so it hurts a lot, so I will be making one for him!!

That’s very nice of you
I would really rather my friend not die so thanks o(TヘTo)
I'm not sure the risks are the same since this has the elasticy back but you are recommended to not wear corsets/stays overnight so I think this should also be removed when possible but it certainly does seem safer to not take off if that's going to happen anyway.
@@asterismos5451 Good point, this is definitely not a substitute, I just thought it may be a bit safer, as it seems a bit more breathable.
“Thank you older brother dorian” we all sayin unison
If anyone with big tibbies makes this pleasseeeee let me know how it goes. I have a binder but I got bigger and can’t really fit it comfortably anymore and I don’t wanna spend the money on a new one just to wear it like twice a month lol. If I could wear this as a bra replacement when I go out that would be incredible. I think my tibbies are like the main thing that people see when they look at me so I’m constantly misgendered.
in the meantime if you dont want to just sell/give away your current binder you could try expanding it! you might add a panel in the front or back (depending how the binder is shaped), or potentially symmetrical panels under the arms (that way the fit around the neck/shoulders shouldnt change as much)
@@dorian.crafts that’s so smart idk why I didn’t think of that lol thank you!
It sounds silly but I think if you crochet/knit a stretchy tube top (think like the 90's sort of style) then wear that over top of your bone binder, I think it might hide those markings P:
I've crocheted a few bra/binders out of normal acrylic yarn and it's surprisingly comfy and good for flattening your chest out :) Just keep in mind it'll make you rather hot, since it is yarn X'D
*edit:* UA-cam glitched and won't let me reply, so I'm gonna write this here:
I would crochet a rectangular piece (like you're making a scarf) that just barely goes around your chest. I'd make it so it *just* meets in the front with the ends barely touching. You want it wide enough to cover your belotheds and to reach halfway between them and your belly button. That should help give the flat illusion I think.
Then, crochet a chain/string and go over it so it's a little thick. You can then thread this through the 'scarf' ends and you have a crochet corset :)
You can reinforce the ends of the corset/chest piece by crocheting over the ends of the corset tightly but *ONLY* on the ends where they meet at the front of your chest, as you still want the rest to have a little stretch (we're making this to be comfortable after all)
This is just off the top of my head. I'm actually crocheting my idea out now to double check it'll work but I think this should make a comfortable binder :)
Holy- I love to crochet!! I don't know if you are able to, do you know where we could make a crocheted binder or if you have a pattern? That sounds awesome. Hope you have a great day
I love how we have all collectively decided to come together and learn about binders

Hi! I’m genderfluid, too. Stay strong & please remember you’re valid.
From personal experience- it gets easier. After staying persistent with my parents they’ve slowly started coming around. also for the thin shirt issue, have you tried using an undershirt with it to kind of help pad the boning?
@@kayagirllove526well he got top surgery already so he really has no use for any binding method anymore lol
His voice sounds amazing! I’m actually blown away. And this idea for a binder is insanely clever I really want to make one.
Get really buff and then you’ll just have sweet pecs
You got this man
I've been thinking about something like this ever since I started watching historical dress youtubers (bernadette banner mostly) and thus thinking a lot about historical undergarments for the be-boobed. I've not done anything with the concept myself because I have almost no sewing experience (besides some shoddy mending I've done) and trying new things is ~scawy~ (also sewing machines are expensive and hand sewing is time intensive), so it's really cool to see someone else has gone and Done The Thing!
Perhaps someday I will get over myself and make my own historically inspired binder thing (and also see how well it works on different body types bc uh. yeah mine are NOT as small as yours lol) but for now i'm glad that there's proof of concept out there (I assumed that *someone* had done this before but this is the first I've actually seen any evidence)
love how the algorithm just decided to randomly recommend this to everyone after a year lmao
Thank you for making this video!
for future reference (or anyone reading), nail clippers work better than scissors to cut things like synthetic boning!
Do with that information what you will.
damn so we're all here rn (im nonbinary)
yeah. (I'm nb too!)
We all have been summoned
why are all of these comments so recent 💀
anyways THANK YOU YT GODS FOR SENDING ME THIS VIDEO!!!!! :D
This should push the bome down a bit and make it much less visible :)
(make sure you use a relatively thick material though because the thicker it is, the better itll hold it down and kind of smoothen out the shape of the bone)
Very cool video. And I love your Little Delinquent. 🥰
Quick reminder with historical clothes: stays and corsets went over a chemise made of linen to keep the support garment clean. And in the 1890s they had corset covers that went over the corset and under the shirt to hide the lines. I know it's a lot of layers but a linen tank top and another tank top over it might help.
I love historical clothing because it creates the shape through padding or structure instead of squishing the body.

*"corset coverrr"*
You're a genius, it looks great! If you (or anyone else) want to make the boning less visible, I think another layer may help. In Victorian times they had 'corset covers'.
I think that a tank top of a thick, woven fabric like linen or cotton canvas could help smoothe out the boning lines and make it look like you're just a very fancy dude who cares about layering :)
I do have a larger chest, so I'm kind of curious if anyone with a different body type already tried this... if not, soon enough I'll try this out and let everyone know how it looks
So curious!

thank you for the binder innovation, my dream is a binder that smooths the silhouette you were talking about but offers some relief in the form of pec shaped stretch panels above that to sell the beefy chest illusion. i mean we have the mass why not USE IT. why do we still suffer the boobloaf, the bricktit, the unnatural smooth mass of everything all just mushed together up front there until we yet again manually adjust it for the nth time that day
i wish they made good binders for people with large chests 😔 i'm happy that you made one that makes you comfortable!!!
