The R&D is complete and the factory build is underway, it would be a stupid decision not to build the two new vehicles.
Many legacy companies have a lot of debt to service. They can lose only so much in sales before they can no longer make required payments. A 10% drop in business might be survivable. A 20% drop in business might not.
It's not about affording, it's about willing to spend. A mid-spec GTi is close to 40k. At 40k you can buy a Model 3 that's faster, larger and cheaper to run.
VW and other legacy auto companies failed to innovate. They're stuck without the ability to compete with successful EV manufacturers. They even had a CEO who gave them a serious wake up slap. They fired him.
But Germany said it needs 400,000 new immigrants every year from now on. Recently, during India visit, Germany promised 90,000 VISA for Indians every year from now on. 🙄

It seems to me that car companies in the EU will need to start charging a premium on their ICE vehicles to pay for the fines that will be coming. Doing so will also help boost their EV sales. Or they can just go bankrupt...

@@mcsike7264 Every one has already had five recalls and every customer has a list of as delivered defects as long as 99 items. The repairs alone have completely eliminated any possibility of profit. And that's not even taking into consideration of the extremely long and costly development process. The Cyberflop can and will likely sink tesla.
So the big winners are Tesla and BYD this quarter. Both leaders in EV space. But corp media claims EVs are not growing. Weird, I guess it was just the lazy compliance legacy EVs after all. Do you know why they need to compare BYD to Tesla? Because it distracts from how bad their legacies are doing right now lol.

Stellantis sales have droped, thus they purchase less parts from the sir suppliers. This increases the cost of each part due to its decreased volume. That will happen to all Stellamntis supliers. The same will hapen to VW, GM, Ford, MB ,and many others, Making ICE cars on the neww ev are is becoming very thought.

You information is stale. Tesla has figured out how to be among the best in those body details. There are no legacy EVs that the market wants in meaningful numbers.
I phones only have 30% of the global cell phone market. Androids have around 70% of the global market. The only place IPhones outsell androids in the land of gullible consumers , the US consumer is blind.
EU makers do not sell EV because they appeal against the EU targets, therefore create uncertainty with consumers. They do this only to get profits for cheap, but at the end, they shoot themselves in the foot. Very foolish and very short sighted.
The two Hail Mary vehicles in USA this year: A) VW ID Buzz - the final hope to rekindle the embers of Volkswagen's loveable Q factor from decades ago B) RAM Ramcharger - roadgoing locomotive to provide EV benefits with zero EV compromise. These are both the Make-or-Break vehicles that can save their respective companies. Neither are cheap, but if as good as they appear, worth every penny.
Well VW already screwed themselves on the Buzz. I can’t imagine sales will be too good at a $70k price. They should’ve made it as an ICE or PHEV too so it could start at $35k or $40k. It would help get them out in to the public and of course amortize the cost.
