I've had the concept of stocks explained to me countless times since I first heard the term in 4th grade economics class and now, at nearly 15 years old, I still have absolutely no understanding of what they are and why people invest in what seems to be imaginary money.
I disagree with this statement, Duplicating items means you can get practically infinite bells, whereas time skipping, you still gradually have to gain money. It's easier but it's not nearly as game breaking as duplicating a tarantula millions of times to get the max amount of money. Time skipping still involves some work to get money or items you want, Duping doesn't.
@@zaksolo8927 If I remember correctly, nintendo themselves said they don't consider time skipping cheating anymore, since people have lives and it's annoying to wait for things to be built over a day long period.

Well, my research said the original Jack-o-lanterns were carved from giant beets. In fact, the story of where they get their name, Jack of the Lantern (at least all the versions I found), states in the story that Jack carved a giant beet into a lantern to carry a lump of coal from Hell while he wanders the world due to not being permitted in Heaven or Hell (and he got the coal because the Devil threw it at him after he tried to break into Hell). It's a crazy story, I recommend you take a look at the story of Jack of the Lantern when you get the chance. Maybe the localizers confused Turnips for Tulips? That's probably the intended pun for english-speakers. It links the in-game turnip to the Dutch Tulip Bubble which was basically a 1600s equivalent to a stock market crash.
I always thought it was based on real world tulips that were traded like stock during a fair portion of Netherland history. Since the tulips themselves weren't traded themselves, but rather the tulip bulbs, the transition to another bulb based plant with a very similar name, i.e. tu[rn]ip, felt very natural
As a British person, I find the Daisy May being an homage to Fanny May even funnier. Because, even though 'fanny' means the butt in America, here in Britain, it's a term used to refer to female genitalia. And 'daisy' is also a childish way of referring to female genitalia. So, I just see it as replacing one term for female parts with another term for female parts. Which to my childish mind, is hilarious.
