Tusk 2 Track Tire Review

  • This is a new tire offered by Tusk. It is the 2 track. It's a 30% road and 70% off-road tire. I bought a front 90/90-21 to try out. This video is of me mounting and testing the tire. I ran it up to 85mph on FM 455 in North Texas and then took it through slick mud. This tire has met my needs for a front adventure tire and only cost $80 delivered from RMATV/MC. The test bike is my 2023 Yamaha Tenere 700 T7.

    That was an excellent advertisement for that baja tool. I watched the tire shop struggle with that tire on a tire machine and they even pinched the first tube they put in. That looked quite effortless with that tool. I am going to get one now.

    It seems to be a winner. I sold my T7 and bought a KTM 390 Adventure and at the moment the tires don't come in the size I need. Waiting. Thank you for the video, excellent job.

      I just put a set of Motoz Adventures on a buddie's 390 and it completely transformed his bike into an off-road machine. I think Tusk was targeting the T7 market first. Hoping they expand their line.

    A "very windy" road in Texas appearantly has a curve every mile or so...

    Deciding between these and some Motoz but they are $400 for a set, dang if those rear tires already sold out from Tusk but nice review. Sold me on a front, might as well try it out.

      Yep. Correct. Baja No Pinch. I store it disassembled in my tool roll.

    Any concerns with the tire stiffness of the tire for replacing a tube roadside if you pick up a nail? I like the look of these tires and the price but I worry about doing any roadside maintenance due to how stiff its bee reported to be. Do you think you could change it with just tire levers?

      2 day after I installed this, I ripped a tube on a wheel hop at low pressure. We changed it roadside. I carry my baja no pinch tool in my tool roll. I'm not sure I could've done it without the baja. I think stiffness concerns are valid, but the more miles you put on a tire, the softer they get. I think your concern is valid.

    Just curious.. does your bike handle well with the tusk front and motoz rear?? I'm kinda a believer in using the same tire manufacturer front and rear.. just wondering if the different rubber compound makes a big difference or if it handles great

    • @off-roaddadlife3738
      @off-roaddadlife3738  5 місяців тому

      It handles fine. No probs. It's common to mix/match. A lot of bikes run D606/M21 combos with success.

      @@off-roaddadlife3738 I've run the tusk dsport rear and m21 on my wr250r and that was great.. I will not buy dunlop anything because the motz tire are far superior to dunlop at the same price and even less expensive.. anyway I was just curious because the 2 track is not available in 17 rear for my vstrom 800de..

    Thanks Josh, great video. Off topic question, what camera do you have mounted above your gps and how do you have mounted?

    • @off-roaddadlife3738
      @off-roaddadlife3738  5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! It's a GoPro 9 Black mounted to the windshield upside down in the GoPro media mod. I just ordered the max lens mod for it to get a better view of riders and terrain behind me.

      Thanks. If I may ask, how is it mounted to windshield to keep from falling off? I was afraid of using a suction cup mount and it pop off. Is it with the 3m tape?

    • @off-roaddadlife3738
      @off-roaddadlife3738  5 місяців тому +1

      @kcfoxe1824 it's a standard gopro mount with the 3m tape. I put a moskomoto sticker on the other side to make it look ok. Hot water will make a gopro mount pop off clean if you're worried about residue.

    I have that tire tool, and that tire. I'm not sure if the arch on yours is flatter. But mine just destroys the bead, no matter how small the bite is. I noticed that when you got the last part in the bottom ridge of the tool got stuck between the tire and the rim. Mine won't do that, the arch is too round. You make it look sooooo easy. It's not.

      Well, I keep finding screws in the middle of nowhere, so I get practice, lol

      Agree. I just mounted these on my T7 with the Baja tool and it was not this easy… doable, but a lot of work. Had to use spoons along with the Baja tool.
