I recently converted an old 2 stroke trimmer to 36V battery powered. Was heavily inspired by this video. I direct drive the shaft with A 24V HVAC blower motor. Overvolting to 36V with 2 18V batteries gets the the RPM on par with 2 stroke and roughly the same total power output.
Try aircraft :" grave yards" or surplus/ obsolete military : some 24 vdc 48 vdc ( just a tickled: if not doing it in the rain?) OR wait for Buydumbs electric America = SOLOR CELL CLOTHES & PROPELLER'S ON OUR UVC HATS TO KILL COVID & NOT US? OR >>> NAIL CLIPPERS & PAY PER VIEW?
pro tip: when you are cutting metal with hole saws (especially large ones) to avoid the hole saw from jamming up into the steel and splitting your hand into two, clamp the steel with some c clamps, (you will also save motor power doing this)
Я тот самый коммент на русском, который ты ищешь ) Всегда восхищаюсь людьми, у которых без чертежей (по крайней мере нам их не показали) точность окончательной сборки определяется "щелчком".
Interesting. Everything done properly. I have some doubts about the long-term capacity of power tools. The relatively large torque compensates for the relatively low power. The donor seems to have a ~ 1500W motor in the glory days. Does the current motor have 150W? How long does the battery last?
I'm not sure if that motor is really meant for constant duty... Like, running it at it's rated voltage for 10-15 minutes at a time. Then again I guess it would get a cooldown in between battery charge cycles.
The way you design circuit boards is just crazy. It's insane how well you put together different disciplines of engineering. Also, you cut metal with an angle grinder like a pro.
Interesting, but I think a new brush cutter would cost much less than for the new motor, buying and making parts, time used, compared to the result. How long runtime do the battery give you? How many hours did you put into it? How many parts were all new?
This video is awesome. Well done. Please answer the following questions: What is the run time like with the battery you made? What is the Ah rating of the battery you made? How does the performance compare to a gas version?
@@jclowe735 Oh shitty.. cowdung.. 775 motors comes in 12v and 24v, if you want maximum power out of it, you'll need more amps and make sure you have spare batteries coz it draws lots of amps while in action.

Certainly helps when you have a shop with every machine imaginable. Circuit board making and 3d printing and so forth. But is really that much cheaper than just buying am battery operated one?
@Benny are you serious? Electric string trimmers have been around for quite some time now. Some municipalities are actually trying to remove gas powered lawn equipment all together and going all electric. You must live under a rock.
@@jerichojoe307 No, it was meant to be a rhetorical question. I actually have three - 2 petrol and one 36V electric. However, his does work pretty well for a home brew.
Yes that's correct. But the leverage to balance the rod while maneuvering left and right swing will be a problem. Motor at the lower end will make it very heavy to move. But your point is valid. Can be mounted on couple of wheels to roll on the ground thereby relieving us of the load.
