I get what you're saying about "there's silk and then there's silk." When I was shopping for someone to make my wedding dress, I told them I wanted vintage style and vintage weight fabric. I knew I'd found the right person when she pulled out her swatch book and was like, "I have been waiting for someone to want a dress made of this" and picked the most gorgeous HEAVY charmeuse.

That’s such a cool “origin story.” Where is the dress now? Have you considered making it into something else to use it in daily life? Or is it getting married on other people?

My understanding is that 99% alcohol evaporates too quickly to truly sanitize. For that, I believe 70% is recommended.

I've seen other people do sponsorships with this brand but this is the ONLY channel that I would trust in terms of speaking to the fabric due to your experience with fabric from before.

Just here to agree and strongly recommend adding 70% isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle to your vanity if you haven’t already. I’m a nut about it - I also sanitize my skincare bottles at least weekly or whenever I see them with smudges or dust for the reasons Hannah stated. You’ll get hooked on it.

Congrats on your chosen sponsor! The whole topic of acne will forever remind me of my dad, not really understanding acne, asking if I’d tried washing my face to treat it.
Hmm never thought of that dad, thanks.

I recommend putting the alcohol in a little spray bottle and using that to sanitize your brushes between full in depth brush washing. It's so easy to just blanket spray everything. It's what I do, it's really helped a lot to keep my brushes clean(er) between washes.

Affordable but good silk has pretty much disappeared over the last 30 years. I was so pleased to find Lilysilk and bought a couple of their blouses this summer…they’re lovely! The tee is a little boxy and needed tailoring but the classic blouse was perfect. Thanks!

Yes, I like to make sure my hands are clean before touching my makeup. I like to use my fingers on my eyes do I feel better knowing I'm sticking my clean fingers in my makeup.
I also make sure to spray my makeup down with alcohol occasionally too.
Another thing is to make sure you keep your hands off your face. My biggest issue with that is when I'm sleeping.

Regarding mixing on the hand, I like to either mix in my palm because I find it warmer and easier to wash off or I mix on a metal palette which quickly rinses clean with some soap of any kind and can be sanitized in a dishwasher every so often. My hands are really dry and when i try to mix on the back of my hand I find the makeup likes to sit in the lines on the hand skin and is hard to wash off.

Hydrocolloid bandages are just as good and more affordable!
70% alcohol works best for brushes but not good for nice luxury brushes because it ruins the oils!

I am a side sleeper by nature. It is how I feel most comfortable, but I believe that side sleep contributes to wrinkles and puffiness... Waking from a night of side sleep, I have noticed that the wrinkles between my brows are more pronounced and I get this particularly annoying wrinkle near my chin. When I lie on my back and keep my head straight while I sleep, my face seems to drain better and my face appears more refreshed when I wake up. I have trained myself to sleep on my back. (This is a shout out to my friend Tania who, in high school, did the same thing but it was for a different reason. Back then, she would “do her bangs” at night - they were as very complicated swoop and double winged early nineties vision of loveliness- and she didn’t want to ruin them ). She would lay like a ghost and not move a hair lol. I’m sure the Aussie scrunch spray helped lol. But I remember at that time that I thought I could never do that.. and well here we are. I have now become a back sleeper and it really helps in the fight against wrinkles and water retention. Maybe becoming a back sleeper could help with the acne as well?

i was able to diminish my breakouts over this last year. i attribute that success to birth control, differin, and hydrocolloid patches. i wish i had known this recipe sooner, but i am grateful for the relief, as my skin had been a source of very real trauma.

Phones can be a cause for acne on cheeks. I started to put my phone on speaker for talking whenever possible and it has made a lot of difference in my life. I tried sanitizing my phone with sanitizer spray but it got into my incoming speaker and messed it up. So now I just minimise the contact of my phone with my face. And changing phone case regularly also helps. ☺️

    • @anotherlemontree
      @anotherlemontree 3 роки тому +2

I spray a little 70% alcohol onto a dry microfibre cloth and then use that to gently wipe down my phone (and any other surfaces that need sanitising). Rather than spraying directly onto the phone, which isn't recommended for reasons that you know too well lol.

I'm sure this doesn't apply to you, but truly knowing your skin type really helps. I thought I had dry skin so I treated it as dry. I accidently bought a normal to oily face wash and stopped being so dry which really helped with tightness in my skin. I use oil now on my oily face which sounds odd, I know but it cleared up the noncomedonal acne that returned once I started cleansing my face according to skin type.
My cystic/ hormonal acne flares didn't really stop until I stopped consuming to much sugar. I went low carb on my diet and started to drink water and my skin cleared up so much.

I found those patches didn't work for me because they wouldn't stay stuck to me because of my skincare products. I love silk pillowcases and I change my pillowcase in between sheets washings. I'm a diligent brush washer and handwasher. I do like to use a acne face wash in the morning. I lather it up with minimal water and let it sit on my face for 5 minutes, like a acne face mask before rinsing. I also like use a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment and UFO oil.

I have noticed if I go to long without washing my pillow cases I get breakouts more too. I've been terrible about washing my brushes but I haven't been doing anything but my eyes. Not that not washing eye brushes is great either... but I don't break out on my eye from using my brushes a few times without washing them.

Anything that touches your face should be cean. From brushes, to hair, to scarf/hat etc. If your hair is greasy, or covered in styling products and you sleep with it sticking to your face, that is a problem too. I feel super unfomfortable when I see influencers use their brushes that are sitting on their vanity covered in product from the day before. Or talk about not washing their hair, using oils to style it etc. and then they are surprised that suff that touches their face a lot causes breakouts.

Great video. I stopped breastfeeding my son a couple of months ago, and since then I’ve been breaking out in hormonal acne as well. It’s so discouraging to deal with. I’ve thankfully never struggled with acne, but I am aware of the importance of clean makeup tools. I wash makeup brushes every time I use them; it’s just a habit now. It really is awful to watch a beauty video and see someone applying makeup with obviously dirty brushes and laughing about it. I think your strategies sound sensible and I truly hope they make a difference for you. That pillow case sounds divine!
