    Oooh! This is a life hack I’ve used for several summers for an ‘acne body wash’: I buy a pump bottle of the SA cleanser from Cerave, and when I shower, I add two pumps of that to whatever body wash I’m loving at that time. It’s an extra product... but it works for me

      @@grecia6389 I used to feel that way too. But I like wearing interesting looking glasses and I feel that they can definitely add something to your appearance. Like since I have to wear them anyway, might as well look cool. Glasses also have trends like any other fashion, so I also think it isn't wrong to include people who don't need them per say. It kinda has its own little corner of being a necessary tool but also like an accessory. But if it bothers you, it bothers you and that's okay too haha

    I've used 0.025% prescription tretinoin on and off for about two years, consistently for about four months and it takes time! My acne drastically got worse before it started to get better and now I'd say it is 90% gone. I wouldn't say I have sensitive skin and my retinization period was awful and lasted about two and a half months before it started to calm down. Two and a half months of intense breakouts, peeling, stinging, redness, and irritation. This is why dermatologists start you off on a very low dose and slowly increase it over time as your skin adjusts, you don't want to compromise your skin barrier like I did! Most dermatologists in Canada (from my experience) won't up your strength until you've been using your current dose daily for 4-6 months. And it may not seem like a huge increase from 0.01% to 0.018% but it is, trust the process. Love you!

    • @bethanyseeto521
      @bethanyseeto521 3 роки тому +4

      Also, I found the Cerave moisturizing cream to be a LIFESAVER while on my tretinoin journey! I would 100% recommend and you can usually find it in bulk at Costco (in Canada at least).

    • @beeraeutiful
      @beeraeutiful 3 роки тому +2

      How did you do once you got past your retinization? I am only on .01 right now and I'm bout 2 months in and still dealing with peeling/stinging. I thought I was finally over the retinization about a week ago but it flared up again recently. I don't want to give up!

    • @bethanyseeto521
      @bethanyseeto521 3 роки тому +2

      @@beeraeutiful Although I am past my retinization period I still do experience slight stinging and sometimes flaking when there are drastic changes in the weather, I try a new skincare product, or if I apply more than I usually do (mine comes in an aluminum tube and sometimes gushes out and I don’t want to waste it). I would say stripping your skincare routine down to as few products as possible is the best place to start. Since tretinoin is speeding up your cell turnover you don’t want to introduce and actives or harsh exfoliants into your skincare routine for at least the first 4-6 months. I exclusively used the Cerave lotion, cream, hydrating cleanser, and sunscreen for the first 3.5 months. I have recently started to introduce a hydrating mask and facial oils to help with the dryness but be warned most will sting upon application. The most important thing to remember is that everyone’s skin is different and that just because your retinization is taking longer than mine or anyone else’s doesn’t mean it isn’t working, I know it’s disheartening to feel like you’re moving backward but give it time. If you’re using it every day maybe skip a day here and there to give your skin a break, a would skip a day 1-2 times a week in the height of the sensitivity and peeling. Hope this helps!

  • @AnkV
    @AnkV 3 роки тому +16

    0.01 is not that little for tretinoin. I actually got great results from crystal retinal 6. Actual retinol or Retinaldehyde helped me at 0.5 0.6 and that is about ten times
    Less active than tret. I watched a lot of doctor sam bunting and she explains that retinization of the skin happens over time and it's not worth destroying your barrier since results need at least 12 weeks ( two skin cycles ) to take place. In any case sooo glad you are being helped by the magic of retinol! Yay to science!

  • @Viennafly1
    @Viennafly1 3 роки тому +8

    Tretinoin is one of those less is more kind of things. Don't despair if you're not increasing your dose. :-) It's typically prescribed at 0.025%-0.05%, both of which are extremely irritating. It may seem slow now, but starting small is great to reduce the chance you get irritated, have to take a long break, then start from square 1. You'd never really go past 0.05% anyway.

    the idea for tret is to use the smallest percentage your skin can handle that does the job. that’s why they start at the smallest percentage and why your provider is increasing it slowly
    also if you were sponsored by good molecules I feel like that would be disingenuous because your skin progress is most likely to be due to the tret in your curology prescription than the good molecules products.

    I love these glasses they do great things for your brows. It doesn’t really matter the percentage of retinol it’s more about consistency; if you use .03 vs .1 in two years you’ll be the same place so choose a prescription you can tolerate. I’m also on the Paula’s choice bandwagon and have been for almost ten years. I have dry aging red acne prone skin and their skin recovery line is holy grail. Their toner is hydrating and milky, the moisturizer is beautiful under makeup, and the dry skin mask is a thick sleep mask that comes in a massive tube for daily use. Their cleanser is lotion like and removes waterproof mascara without drying out your skin. I’ve also gotten into indeed laboratories hydraluron moisture serum which is hydrating and plumping it’s the texture I always dreamed a serum would be, Paula’s choice azeleic acid for redness, acne, and inflammation, for my retinol adapalene gel, and Tizo tinted sunscreen. I’ve heard good things about curology but the texture situation I can’t cope with I need to feel plumped. I watch a lot of dermatologists UA-cam channels basically lol

    I went to a mild BHA toner (like the Paula's choice) after about a month on curology, and no issues. And then one or two nights a week, I skip the curology and use a strong acid (like you used to do with good genes). No issues. But I also use maybe twice as much curology as they recommend (gradually, over time), because it's taken so long to increase my trentinoin. No issues, except I run out of curology faster. But I really like my skin. And yes, I ditched the cleanser immediately because it was actually too drying and the moisturizer wasn't enough. But the formula itself I very much like. Zero acne and after a year, I see the anti-aging pretty significantly.

    If anyone with dry skin is looking for a solid, reasonably priced moisturizer, check out the Pyunkang Yul ATO Cream Blue Label. It's $20 for a 4.06oz tube that lasts quite a while.
    Also, unless someone has very nonreactive skin, I'd tell them to take their time with Tretinoin. A lower concentration isn't ineffective, it just takes longer to see results. But slow is preferable with that ingredient, it's very powerful. Your derm nearly doubled the concentration on your Rx. Everything I've heard from derms and read on skincare forums is that's it's so much better to increase the concentration very gradually. Ideally, the irritation and flaking should be minimal, there's no benefit to irritating your skin and wrecking your barrier just to get to the highest Tretinoin percentage available. The goal is to be able to use it every night with no irritation. Many people find they do best with a certain percentage below the max and get irritation if they go beyond that.

    I went a bit too fast with Trentinoin and I’m paying the price. Dry and flaky. I’ve hD to back off and go slower. You will be happier in the long run if you go slow and the smaller increments may get you to your goal strength quicker without the irritation. There is no better treatment but too strong too quick is a disaster.

    Isn’t the GM Pineapple Exfoliating Powder like the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant with rice powder? It’s not about the grittiness. It’s not meant to be a physical exfoliant.

    Ugh, I have the exact same complaint about the Glossier body oil packaging - it's so bad! Also if you do try to use it as a spray -- especially on your arms or legs -- inevitably, some of the oil sprays past your limbs and ends up just settling on the floor and then your tile floor is also super slippery!

    I’m envious that you get to wear fake glasses since I’m stuck wearing real one. I wish I could wear fake ones and have different ones, but once you have a prescription in them they are so expensive. I have to pair and that’s all I get to play with (and I’ve got two only because they were a massive 2 for 1 deal when I got my glasses)

    • @catj4441
      @catj4441 3 роки тому +1

      Typically, people take showers that are too hot for the face. Just make sure you turn down the temp when you're washing your face and it should be fine. I'm way too lazy to try and wash my face at the sink.

    • @eikawithac
      @eikawithac 3 роки тому +1

      I think it's because the water is too hot, but I totally do it too. I tell myself it's ok because I don't stick my face under the hot water, I just get my hands wet and then use that and surely it's cooled off a lot by the time it gets to my face... but I know I'm not really being honest with myself 😂 Washing your face at the sink is so annoying because the water always runs down your arms and gets everywhere!

    • @ohheyyola5416
      @ohheyyola5416 3 роки тому +1

      Also, the stream of water hitting your face is pretty bad. If you shower with lukewarm water and not stick your face directly under the shower it should be fine. I dislike washing my face at the sink.

    I don´t hate the fake glasses because they are fake, but because of the awkward shape and proportions. You´d be much better off with smaller and thinner frames Hannah. This is from somebody who wore glasses their whole life.

      Each to their own. It's a very outdated 80s trend and is not my personal style. Those frames would have looked better as sunglasses though, at least that would have some actual use. Calling anyone who disagrees as wrong is a bit silly because not everyone HAS to agree those fake glasses are not really naff...
