I'm a writer and this guy helps me so much. When he said "you know what I'm doing I'm trying to write" meaning this is why things AREN'T working -I can relate. I watch his videos to get inspired before I write. I want to get shorty some day.
Maybe Elmore Leonard didn’t want people walking around inside his house and on his carpets with their dirty shoes? It’s a very common custom in many European and Asian countries that you take off your shoes when walking into someones house/home. It’s considered rude and extremely filthy to walk indoors with your shoes on. I know that’s not the case in the USA but maybe Elmore Leonard felt the same about it as the europeans/asians. He, himself, might be wearing indoor-shoes.
For anybody who likes Leonard and enjoyed this interview, go watch the documentary ELMORE LEONARD: CRIMINAL RECORDS. It is outstanding and puts to screen everything he talks about here.
Ahahaha, he's basically the anti-Alan Moore! Both are brilliant, don't get me wrong, but their stances on film adaptations are totally starkly opposite.

What a warm and inspiring writer. I also love how the interviewer is without shoes.
Probably the best writer who ever lived. RIP

The subliminal aspect of the interviewer not wearing shoes blew me away. The interview was also good.

Elmore "Dutch" Leonard died in his home today, 20 August, 2013. He was 87.
it's awesome how the interviewer is just wearing socks
R.I.P.
Just a brilliant guy, doing what he loved.
Check out the interviewer, not wearing shoes. What the hell is that?
Wearing shoes in one's home (or the homes of others) is a digusting American habit.
Cut Limbo was born after reading just about everything Elmore wrote, the guy was style and invented coolness without trying.
RIP. Legend.
Elmore is a fucking GOD.

Tarintino, Joss Whedon, and Elmore Leonard -- masters of dialogue.
Let's add Ellroy to that list, amigo. Excelsior!
You know "the moonshine war " was a pretty bad- a very bad movie. Am a decendent; I should know.
