There's been a lot of Easter eggs in these movies people have started noticing. Myself when I watch Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. I noticed during the Scooby nightmare, when Jay wakes up in the bathtub there's an inflatable glove that says "Stay calm. Dial 911. We have taken your kidney.
That reminded me of Kevin's Sundance selling story... They sold to Harvey Weinstein at Sundance for $227k and were supposed to get more money when the movie became profitable. They never got paid more but couldn't really do anything because Miramax was already greenlighting their next movies...
If his boss had actually asked him to work the entire day and asked nicely, I bet Dante would have. But trying to shyster him like he did, Dante shouldn't feel bad if he just locked the store up and went home at noon.

The second I found out my boss wasnt coming i wouldve said fuck it and close the store for the day. No way in hell id work opening to closing by myself on my fucking day off
Same here. I was basically in Dante’s position at my first job. I had seniority there and the managers trusted me, so a couple of them essentially left me to do their jobs whenever they didn’t want to, because they knew I would. Getting let go was a blessing in disguise.
Randal is right, if a job is asking you to come in on your days off or asking you to do things you dont want to do, you have to put your foot down.
