It's an amazing place! I actually recorded another video there recently but still have to process it. Its been raining for weeks here in the netherlands and I wanted to do some photography and went to the rainforest again. Thanks for watching the video. Where are you from? Grt guido
From the UK, have visited NL many times. will try and squeeze a trip to see it one day. Seems like a great place to be with a macro lens! @@GuidoVanDeWater
@implausibleblog ow yeah it's great for macro. And the best thing is that the covered area is realy huge so even on a rainy day you cab walk around for hours. The jungle, desert, ocean and cave system are all connected so once inside you don't have to go out to get to a different part. Then within minutes you cab walk to the mangrove dome or the safari area witch is also largely covered. I have annual year pass always nice to go there with the kids when the weather sucks. Might release the new video of this place tomorow so keep an eye out. Grt guido
@implausibleblog yes the park is called burgers zoo in the city arnhem. www.burgerszoo.nl I'm just finishing my video that I shot there recently to test my 300 f4 pro lens it will be released tomorow. Might be worth checking for more inspiration 🙂 grt guido
You used it more as a portrait lens which it does a great job of. Being a Macroist, I use dedicated flash and diffuser for true macro shots using my 90mm and 60mm to acheive some amazing images. Using the OM1 I found that f10-11 is the best setting for DOF. This lens also works brilliantly using the OMDS focus stacking abilitiy, a Godox V350 syncs without needing to recharge for the entire number of shots. The IS enables handheld shots to be taken with ease which frees your creativity.
Thanks for your comment. I never did any macro so I don't own a flash or anything but I can realy see how much fun this is. Might consider buying a flash 🤣 can I see your shots somewhere? I'm prety interested. I took it outside into nature last weekend and tried it with the 1.4 teleconverter handheld on a moving flower and still the autofocus nailed it. Those details were so amazing. That video is comming in a few weeks I guess. Anyway thank for watching! Grt guido
Realy beautiful shots for a landscape man …. I think indeed with focus stacking there will be much better images to get … Enjoy the lens ..for a few weeks .
For someone not really a macro shooter your composition skills really stood out. I am considering this lens, but I already have a Sony 90mm macro and a Sigma 150mm macro, so its hard to justify another, perhaps I will swap both for the OM one and carry less. My favourite macro camera/lens combo was a Pentax K3ii with a Tamron 90mm macro, for one specific trick. In the settings you could tick (Only fire in focus) and when you were in manual focus moving in and out, press the shutter button fully and it would only operate the shutter when in focus. No other camera I have come across has had that option. Perhaps it was a DSLR thing.
Oh wow, that sounds like a great option! I nowadays just shoot a focus bracket, and then there is always one in focus, haha. But thanks for your compliments. It is much appreciated 🙂 I owned the Sigma 150mm macro also for the 4/3 system and used it with a converter on the micro 4/3 system. In the end, I switched it for the 60mm macro due to the weight. I am also considering buying the 90 because I really love the IS on this one, but it is a pricy lens for the amount of macro that I do. When I do that, I have to commit to macro more, I guess. Thanks for watchibg and your comment! Grt guido
Thanks Guido, really enjoyed this video and your wonderful photos. Although I own the 60mm, I’m quite tempted to get this lens. However, it’s been out of stock in the UK for quite a while now.
Thanks a lot. Thanks to the image stabilisation it much more fun to use the 90mm it is so easy shooting out of hand now. I've used it in another video that is coming next Sunday. Outside on location and even on moving flowers due to wind it did an awsome job. I know it has been out of stock for a while but I've heard that they are catching up on the backorder so hopefully you will be able to get one soon if you would want that. Grt guido
Dank je Guido, heel mooie presentatie van de lens en zijn toepassing. Gewoon heel mooie foto’s.
Grt guido
Lovely images. Looks like a great zoo...and it seemed very quiet so you can find subjects and get a bit of peace. Got the 60mm Macro but I am looking forward to getting the 90mm when it is finally available to buy!
You won't regret the investment I'm sure of that. The zoo is amazing. They want to keep animals in they're "natural" habitat so all animals inside the jungle roam around free. It's the same with the mangrove and dessert domes. And then they also have a gigantic aquarium. If youre ever in the netherlands absolutely worth a visit. I have a year round pass there and often go with my 5 year old son. So I know a bit were to search for the smaller stuff this was recorded on a week day between 9am and 11 am nobody around then 🤣 thanks for watching. Grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater I do, but with a Nikon 105 f2.8 macro on a D500 and D850. I just bought a used E-M1 III and a Pen F because I want more portability and freedom from bulky gear. I have the Olympus 12-40 f2.8 and the 17 f1.8. The Olympus 60 f2.8 macro is next on my list since I always find myself while on travel or walking about finding interesting plants and bugs.
That is a nice camera. The 12-40 is one of most used lenses actually. In the video you watched I used the 90mm Pro but that was on loan and unfortunately I had to return it haha. Lens looks incredibly sharp 😁 macro looks like a lot of fun but needs insane patience 😂 I follow this guy Peter Virag and always amazed by his macro shots and knowledge of the different species.
Grt guido
I dont know the combination myself. But i can see online that there are a lot of specific articles about using it so it looks like it is possible. On amazon there is xpro-O and it says it is specific for olympus and panasonic cameras. I dont own a flash myself because i shoot to little macro images but would love to own one someday! Grt guido
