I wish You a wonderful day! See you in the next video.
I have done macro photography since 1980 and I have never used a flash ! Have a nice day.
Sorry to hear you were feeling burnt out. It can be a difficult balancing act when you turn a hobby into a business and need to do it for income. It isn't helped by the pressure of having to make videos to a regular timescale to appease your audience. As you say, taking a break is sometimes a necessity. Look after your mental health first. Great you're now feeling more enthusiastic.
Especially if you do a lot of staged clips and think you need to tell ANY stuff such as a piss or tea break...
I totally agree about walking away when the passion leaves......I call it the Muse and some times the Muse disappears into the woods and then its a case of waiting for Her to emerge. She will appear when She wants to, not when I want her to...patience and reflection. Thank you for talking to us about your passion.
Well put!
This sort of gentle, thoughtful tone is pleasant to encounter in videos of this sort. I know it's no accident; you're crafting this with real care, and that comes through.
Thank you so much for the kund words
Great to see you again outside! I also know the situation when you end up inside a fenced area without entering through a gate. I remember going through a forest and over a small river.
Lovely slow paced video. Finding inspiration takes time.
Nice video, I fully agree with the fact that macro photography in direct sunlight is not the best, but above all I fully agree with the fact that stopping before exploding is a very intelligent thing. In every environment...not just in photography.
Great video, as usual! Very calming and entertaining. I’m happy that you are back for your photo walks, please consider making videos of other types of photography, I like your philosophy of life and work ethics.
Noted!
Relaxed nice vid. ✌🏼. I hope we can see more from you and the 90mm 😉
More to come!
Thank you Micael for another very informative video with some beautiful pictures.
Thank you for the kind words 🙏
Nice episode, I liked watching it. The 90mm macro is a very nice lens and I enjoy learning how to use it.
Yes dragonflies mating. Lovely snaps! Glad to see you out & about again!! ☮️💟
Thank you! 😊
Nice video as always looks such a peaceful place a perfect place to get your passion back with the insect world
It really is!
Nice video with lovely weather :)
I went from heavy Canon R5 and the full serie of L Lenses to Olympus OM-1, started with 60mm Macro and a new world opend up :)
Bought the 90mm Macro and some diffusers to try them out, so far i dont regret the system switch :)
Yeah it is so well suited for macro!
Good education for me. Thanks, Micael.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Again, great inspiring video in awesome nature. Thank you for making videos like this.
Great choice of background music!
Hello Micael, very nice video! I still ordered G9 M2 even though OM-1 has inbody stacking. Lumix fits better in my hand and the new sensor with autofocus fulfills most of my wishes. In your video there were some very nice spots (like at 17:26) for astrophotography and this beautiful lake with the beach and the birds. Thanks for that!
Yeah this might actually be a good place for astro, because it is a bit outside of the city. Might try going here this winter!
Again a very informing video. Your video’s are very inspiring. Thank you.
Glad you like them!
Хорошая получилась фото прогулка. Приятная музыка. Получил удовольствие от фильма.
Thank you 😊
Great video.😊
Thank you! 😃
Уважаю, что слушаешь внутреннюю суть и не гонишься за бизнесом и внешними потребностями!
Not sure if something similar exists on OM Systems, but on Sony I use DMF focusing, which means I can manually focus and still engage the bracketing from the point I selected.
It is possible on Olympus as well, but the mechanic manual mode on this lens is the exception it seems. Still possible if i focus manually by wire though.
Looks it was pretty chilly, and imho this is the reason this dragonfly was so patient :)
Nice pictures!
OMG beatifull day and very nices shots. i love soo much de macro shots of insects
Nice spot to visit!
Yeah I will definitely come back soon!
Hi Micael based on this video how do you use focus bracketing when it will not operate a flash in this mode of shooting
Michael
I have an om 1 mark 3. You might try going to your menus and set up focusing to autofocus with manual. And use back button focus. I use this with my 90mm lens and it seems to work.
The back button gets me close and I finish by manually focusing. This system should allow you to stack. Also my camera is programmed to magnify the image when I manually focus.
Yes this is how I have it setup as well. But it bothers me that I cannot combine stacking with the mechanical manual-focus mode on the lens.
I agree. It would be nice to be able to set the reproduction ratio and then focus stack. Maybe they will have a firmware upgrade to do that in the future.
I am glad to see that you are back and always look forward to seeing your videos
videos
This maybe a workaround for the stacking problem.
Go to menu A4 reset lens. Turn it off
Then pull back the clutch and set your magnification. Turn the camera off and when the camera is turned back on it will be at that magnification. If you have bracketing turned on then it will do a bracket
Micael, check the settings of MF+AF maybe that will fix your bracketting problem.
My combo om system OM-5 / zuiko M.60 mm
Very nice photos of a likeable person 👍
Nice walk!
Hey indoor Michael..! Tell outdoors Michael we give youz both a big thumbs up! 🤙🏽
Will do!! :)
Thank you, you are very cool)
YOU are cool 👊
Hi Micael, Been a follower for quite some time and loving your videos. Interesting to see your results using your new kit without a flash. Wondering if you're having the same issues as I am (identical set up here) with getting your Godox TT350 or V350 to operate with the OM1. Am I correct in assuming there are compatiblity issues particuularly when trying to take stacked images with the camera/flash combination?
No I haven’t noticed any compatibility issues at all. I have several videos from the last few months where I use the combination OM-1 and v350. Works great in all regards. I had some issues a year ago when I got my first v350 and was unlucky enough to get a broken unit.
@@MicaelWidell Thanks for your quick response, Micael. Much appreciated. I must be doing something wrong with my setup because the Godox works perfectly with my Canon but as soon as I try to use it for taking stacking shots on the OM1... which is when the camera goes to silent mode... the flash just won't fire. It's fine in all other respects.
Would a circular polarizer help with the glare from the direct sunlight?
Nope I tried that. Try searching UA-cam for macro photography with polarizer :)
And do you think the sharpness is noticable on 90 mm vs (60mm + raynox)
Honestly I see no difference - both options give perfect sharpness as far as I can tell
Du har lært meg så mye om makrofoto med blitz , så jeg kjøpte meg en Godox TT350 og trigger :-) Tusen takk og gleder meg masse til mere videoer.
When summer ends and autumn comes, especially the advanced one, I have a problem with photography, and therefore with "a little burnout" :( , because there are no longer my favorite objects to photograph - mainly insects. However, autumn is, fortunately, still a time when you can find other subjects to photograph - for example mushrooms. Winter... A time of rest and waiting for the arrival of spring - a new season for photographing, above all, the insects I prefer :D
A little rest and then you will find the enthusiasm to take beautiful photos again. Regards.
Michael, was your 16(?) spider photo stack all hand held or on a tripod? And if hand held were they on a continuous shutter release? Thankyou mate, always great information.
Yeah it was handheld. Very easy without flash because the automatic stacks are extremely fast then.
Hi Micael and thanks for the reply. So I assume you're shooting continuous but moving ever so slightly backward or forward to capture the insect sections?@@MicaelWidell
So macro photography which flash is better than without it? Because i take photos with mobile and Macro lens(Apexel 100mm 10X Macro Lens), i found new Apexel lens with own flash and it's good idea to but it right?
Tell more about the 90mm macro please. I think of buying it. But it is quite expensive..
I have a quick review video of it. Search for it. And I will probably make more videos where I use it
When the power of reflection leads to calm, the human stabilizer button has been engaged.
I own this exact camera/lens setup and I completely agree with you on the fact that focus bracketing gets unavailable as soon as you pull the lens to "manual" focus is incredibly frustrating and so dumb in my opinion.... I mean, even with the manual clutch engaged the lens is still clearly focus by wire so I don't understand why focus bracketing is disabled.. I ended up not using the manual mode at all because I was constantly switching af/mf just like a pump action shotgun..🤣
Same here. But are you 100% sure it focuses by wire in the manual mode?
@@MicaelWidell I'm 100% sure. If you turn the focus ring really fast then you can see the lens actually takes some time to reach the desired mag value.
Hi Michael, in the other hand, while shooting with flush, there is always the reflection of the flush on the insect eye, is it possible to eliminate it ?
With a good diffuser I wouldn't say it is an issue. In theory you can eliminate it by using a cross polarizer setup with a polarizer both on the camera lens and on the flash.
and very nice vLog - art - 💛
Great video, beatiful landscape where are you from?
Thank you. This is Sweden.
Have you ever had the opportunity to test a vintage lens with 1:1 magnification like the Vivitar 100mm f2.8 macro? I am considering buying such a lens because it is cheaper. Nice video, do what you feel like 🙂👍🤚
Honestly I haven't come across many vintage macro lenses, they are not commonly sold where I live. And I doubt they are very good value for money when super cheap but great macro lenses like the Pergear 60mm mk2 exist ($200 new!). But would be fun to try the Vivitar one day.
@@MicaelWidellThanks for your opinion. Take care, best regards
Great video outdoors Micael, is indoors Micael your twin brother......ha ha... Well done a great job. Colin Devon UK
Glad you enjoyed it 😄
Do like your videos Micael been watching yours for about a year now. well done Colin Devon UK
Hi there indoors Michael. I don’t recall if you also own the 60mm lens…I’ve read that the 90mm is sharper, but it’s way more expensive. Is there any real noticeable difference in sharpness? If you don’t know can you please defer the question to outdoors Michael- thanx
Honestly I don’t see any difference. The 60mm is razor sharp even with a Raynox dcr-250 filter, as is the 90mm. The main benefit with the 90mm is better stabilization, longer focal length and higher magnification.
@@MicaelWidellthank you so much Michael
Do you think you will use your 200-600mm lens again for some more wildlife photography walks?
I will! Just haven’t had a good opportunity in a long time.
@@MicaelWidell Looking forward to it! Love watching your videos ^^
Have you tried it with 2X duplicator?
Not yet
Not me here being jealous of the roe deer coming so close! Did not expect that
I think I was lucky because it was windy and the wind blew towards me
@@MicaelWidell I responded while the video was still going. Sorry you burned out a little, good call to listen to inner Micael
Why you should never misunderestimate the inability of compounded negatives to cause initial confusion in your title 🤩😆
The reason I wrote it like that is that negative titles get way more clicks. Just human psychology, and a bit sad. That’s why you see so many negative headlines in the newspapers.
Why don't you use 25mm laowa? After all, it has higher magnification.
It doesn’t have automatic fast focus stacking. Without that the great magnification is worth less.
maybe hover fly: Helophilus trivittatus
Ah thank you, I believe you are right!
NICE STUFF - As Always -- you made me laugh though- the video was about the importance of flash for insects - but through the whole video -- you didn''t use it even once as a GOOD example to support your statements :) BAD BOY !!! LOL
👍
I do prefer shooting macro with sunlight or spotlight. Flash just doesn't't work for me.
Always try peeing against the fence to find out if it's wired 😅
Interestingly. Are you thinking about photographing wildlife with a telephoto lens?
Yeah I would like to come back here with me 200-600mm lens some morning and shoot some swans and deer :)
🦌❤
YT burn-out --- man, they are a crazy co.
I have done macro photography since 1980 and I haver never used a flash !
If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.

Why do so many UA-camrs think we need to see them make coffee?
I’ve only shown me making coffee once before in my 300+ videos and that video is one of my most watched videos. So I figured let’s try it again and see if it was the coffee making that did it 😄
I liked it, set the vibe for the whole autumn video
@@MicaelWidell This was the first of your videos that I seen. The majority of your viewers may enjoy this style. Personally if the topic is macro photography, that is what I want to know about. I don't care what they eat,
I am also kinda burnt out on watching them drive off leaving their camera behind. Or a mountain climber struggling to reach the summit when the camera was already at the top.
Watching someone go into a building from an outside view, then seeing them go through the door from the inside. How did the camera beat them through the door?
I guess it is part of story telling, it just does not represent the truth. What a surprise to see you. I was wondering what the hell the camera person was doing in my house!
Hello Micael, I hope you recover your passion. A video on your peak design could be nice.
Might do a bag video at some point!
I thought your headline was;
Why you should never photograph insects without a camera!
I thought your headline was:
Why you should never photograph insects!!!
Well, I guess I'm one of those people that hates Flies. I don't like them in my house or around me so I don't like photos of them.
Sad to see that lame deer in the early shots. I hate seeing animals suffering.
