@@mutoneon Man, I'm so biased. I immediately recognized the date. My first show was Hampton 96. 17 year old me was definitely at Hampton 97, spun off some good boomers and a goo ball 🤣😜Did you catch any shows 97? thanks for the reminder. We can alternate between Hampton and Amsterdam Billy Breathes, and we'll get something a little different each time. But Trey's solo...give them a listen and come and share your thoughts.
Derek, Prince Caspian doesn’t have a companion song but you may have seen a lot of postings with Tweezer since the Tweezer>Prince Caspian (> means no stop between songs) from the last played Phish Festival, Magnaball, on 8/22/15 was epic! It’s a very highly rated Tweezer and what most consider the best (and longest) Prince Caspian to date. You should definitely check this out as it stands up to any of the 90’s Phish you’ve been reacting to. Combined the songs are over 34min. If you only want to react to Prince Caspian, you could start at around the 17:25 mark. But playing both will not disappoint and will give you a real feel for their improvisational & creative genius. Phish 8/22/15 Tweezer-Prince Caspian posted by Phish (not others so you get the pro-shot version). Enjoy!
Check out 'Strange Design' It was originally going to be on this album, but was ultimately cut. It's really a great little tune! There's an older version with trey strumming on guitar throughout that im partial to. The channel 'cosmicdebr1s' is the only person i could find who has uploaded that original version to UA-cam if you're interested.
Prince Caspian is from Narnia! Per LitCharts: “In the Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis uses allegorical elements to imbue books like Prince Caspian with the beliefs and values of his devout Christian faith. Aslan functions as a Christ figure, a link between the natural and spiritual worlds, both divine and vulnerable to suffering and death. Prince Caspian makes a fairly explicit claim that the world is better when people embrace Christian values.” Totally dig your concept thesis. With the above, could be a kind of universal Siddhartha narrative. He yearns to escape the cycle of confusion and suffering, wishing to have the Christ attainment of Prince Caspian, being fully “free”. But of course it’s a fantasy, and actually just another form of attachment through escapism.
Billy Breathes is my favorite Phish album. Great songs and great flow and the producer did some big Dave albums. If you like Dave and Phish now... You are already a huge goose fan and you just don't know it yet. Start with Arcadia. Next phish albums should be Story of the Ghost and Farmhouse.
Yo Drock! I've never thought about your "concept album" idea. Interesting. As for the best live versions of some of these songs, Free - Brooklyn 04 ua-cam.com/video/l2Jg7K6JqUc/v-deo.html (Mike and Trey sync up for an incredible jam) and Ventura 97 (Audio only) ua-cam.com/video/CUARfod0xK4/v-deo.html I was at this show and felt it so hard. Definitely the best version I've heard live. Theme From The Bottom - ua-cam.com/video/PZT7KYzYxRs/v-deo.html . NewYears 2014 Miami For a companion video to go with the legendary Free from Brooklyn 04, you should check out Amar's "Anatomy of a Jam" series, where he goes in-depth into great detail about how the jam progresses, signal cues, and so much more. A must-watch for anyone who appreciates the jam and wants to go down the rabbit hole to learn how the sauce is made ua-cam.com/video/_RzBoKF4Vac/v-deo.html
"Billy Breathes" - 97 Amsterdam is the undisputed GOAT

Glow sticks go flying in the Tweezer and create an interesting visual effect.
Trey wrote Billy Breathes about the birth of his first daughter nicknamed Billy.
Swept Away and Steep are always played together.
You are correct. Mike wrote Train song about a train ride.
