I use Bertom's EQ Curve Analyzer all the time. Great tool for detecting snake oil. His other plugins are also great, he has one of the best free real-time denoisers among other things.

Yep, +1 for Bertom free denoiser. I use it on live guitar and voiceover, works really well.

Agree Digitalis is totally underrated! Great plugin. I would have boshed the drums through it there too. Possibly a bit much, but one of those things where you record 10 minutes and chop bits out to resample. 👍

Yea totally! It's a "mud pie" workhorse for sure!

Neat trick with the MSaturator at 9:47, however I think you might have got it slightly wrong about the Compander function in MSaturator. You're explaining what a Expander is doing, a compander however, works quite differently.
A compander compresses a signal's dynamic range and then expands it back to its original state while an expander increases the dynamic range by making quieter sounds even quieter.

    • @DashGlitch

Expander reduces below threshold, Compander Increases above threshold

@@DashGlitchI don't think that's correct, what you're describing is downwards and upwards expansion. Companding is the process of compressing and subsequent expansion of an audio signal like the original comment said.

    • @DaddaPsy
      @DaddaPsy 8 місяців тому +2

@@TheQxY yeah, I believe so too, or is it upwards and downwards compression even? Jeez, it can really be confusing.
Downward expansion with 100:1 ratio is basically a noise gate.
Downward compression with a 100:1 ratio is basically a limiter
Upward compression is used when the loudest part of the signal sounds good but you want more of the body
Upward expansion is used to increase the volume of peaks
Compander will compress the signal and aim to restore it afterwards using expansion.

Interesting, well it seems that the compander here acts more like a upward expander, regardless it's a nice tool for clipping transients but keeping them dynamics :)

@@DashGlitch Could be and yes, it does seem to be a nice tool for it and I'll have a go with it myself at some point. Another nice tool you can try is the Clariphonic EQ from KUSH Audio. Expensive though but also a "secret weapon" for that smooth silk treatment of the hi's =)

Worth mentioning V 1 is free , and technically the same engine as v2 , v2 just has the nice metering and a few extra controls .

@@DashGlitch No i wrote a paragraph about synthesizer I tried Roland Xm and DP12 they were very cool, although you don’t like Roland the Xm seems pretty cool at the end, has Tb808, 909 and some other rhythms, also 5 synthesizers Jupiter 8, Juno and some others, and sound really awesome I think. I was saying if you have a chance try both 🙂
