Kevin, I am a consultant to real estate appraisers. This filtering function is just GOLD for them and should save an Everest of time for them! Thank you!
OMG, thanks for making this so simple. I've been using the sort feature for years, but never used filter for some reason. This will make things SO much easier. I love how you make it so simple and clear, thank you!
Thank you Kevin. This has been enormously helpful. I am working on a large spreadsheet as we speak and this video has helped me chop away 95% of the data, leaving the bits I need. Exactly what I wanted.
You just solve a very huge problem for me that would save me hours of working. Do you know that I have been gathering data and working on them for 5 days already? With this filtering it would take at most 1-3 hours total. Great video, thank you so much Kevin. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for your time I do appreciate it.
I just came to this video hoping for an answer to some problems in excel, but I saw your channel, and know I understand everything a lot more.
Thank you Kevin.

Amazing explanation. I like your explanation especially when you come up with some data and explain the concept using that data.
Hi Kevin, great video as always. And there will never be enough Excel videos on your channel!
I like the way in which you summarize a potentially much wider subject in a 15-to-20 minute video, getting straight to the content without wasting 1/3 of the video with pointless introductions as many You Tubers do.
In the way of requests the list is very long: more multi-media videos, maybe a Photoshop one, now and again a “nerdy” video (what are the basic specs when it comes to replacing my old PC/Laptop...)
Thank you again
Thanks, Kevin for the video , it helps me with my first statistics class.
They go too fast in school thinking everyone knows this already, refresher tutorials always help.
Very helpful and I appreciate your cheerfulness. This stuff takes some concentration for us in our 60s!
Kevin..can't thank you enough for the work you have done...one of the best tutorial on the subject ..easy and straight forward with practical examples
Keep the good work .
You did an awesome job. Was able to follow you step by step. Was not as scary as I thought it would be. Thank you.
Hi Kevin, Great video! short and sweet and right to the point. Thank you

I love this stuff. Thanks for an amazing UA-cam channel
Hi Kevin, lately I have been going through your different videos on Excel tutorial. I just have a doubt here regarding the filter function. We can have headers at the top (beginning of columns). But can we have headers on the left (beginning of rows) and further on set filters based on the left sided headers?
I hope you will take some time out to answer this.
@Kevin, I have data in two columns with different count, i want to map column A to column B
Example : Column A has value but column B doesn't, In my result, for that row column A should have value and Column B should have blank value, This should be applied to all rows. How can we do this?
I can imagine how much time I have been wasting! Thank you so much for making my work so easy🙏🙏
Hi Kevin, THANKYOU so much for the guides. it did improve my work! could you share with us how can we extra info from internet so that it is updated live in excel? for example, share prices, exchange rates or like any figures we can get online
Kevin, great explanation. Thanks!
Thank you! This really saved me! I didn’t realize you needed to set up a table
Applying the filter function to my data simplified my tasks. Thank you. Pls produce videos about excel data mining.
I have lab assignment for my data analytics subject. Your video is very helpful 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🤍🤍🤍🤍
This is just what I needed -thank you!
Hi Kevin. Is there a way to create a pivot from the filtered list? Specificity when one works with nonnumerical data.
Thanks alot, Kevin! I've got an ICT practical tomorrow, and I knew how to make the table but wasn't quite sure about the filtering part :'( You and your video helped alot!!! Thanks!! :D
Hi Kevin,
Thank you so much for everything you do.
Only one question how I can show the cell (I1) as a dropdown list and keep the same filter function. in the minute 15:16
Thanks again
Thank you, I couldn't get it to filter the first way you did it but the second way worked.
Thank you for all your tutorial videos. I hope you can create a new video tutorial for dashboard and model development. Thank you in advance
Great video thanks for making this. I'm new to using Excel. I have a list of 60 names. I need to search and see if all or any of the names appear in other Excel sheets. Can I use the filter feature to do that?
Always great videos.
Hi Kelvin, thank you very much for you sharing, may i know is it possible for us to do filtering across worksheet? what i mean is in the same excel workbook, I have created several worksheet, i have added my raw data on one, but hope to do the filtering on another worksheet. thank you!
Thank You Kevin!!
In your exemple tou used a small table and had some 2, 3 or 4 items as results after filter. Thats easy to count. But in case of massive sheet. Does Excel count the filters results?

I would like to filter by color however
I use the high contrast view with a black background. It's just easier on my eyes as someone who spends many years on the computer.
I can't find a way to color boxes in this view
Hi, when you used FILTER function the value of "Year opened" column has changed in filtered table. Kindly check.

Hi Kevin, congratulations on your very informational tutorials in excel and powerpoint. I have a concern in extracting the zonal number only in a irregular patern of complete address text string. I hope you can give me advice. Thanks and God Bless your tutorial endevours 😊
Thank you bro-from the Philippines
Hey Kevin, Thanks for your videos. I am looking for a solution to something. I have a table of data for inventory items. In that table, I have a column that says " Requested by" and another that says " Approved by". There is a list of people for those columns in another sheet. I must fix a drop-down in my item master sheet with values from the other sheet only. To explain a bit, Let's say 5 people Abraham, john, adam, lin, and marc can request the item. So when I click the cells in the "Requested By" column only these 5 names will be shown as a drop-down and nobody will be able to manually add any name to the cells of the column. Same for the "Approved by" also. Can you plz help me to set up the task? Thank You.
So useful! Thank you!
@KevinStratvert - great video. I'd love to know if there is a way to save views so that I don't have to keep going back to click check boxes. I have some fairly large spreadsheets that I need to be able to view in about 4 different views. I used to be able to use the 'custom view' function but this is greyed out now that I've turned all my data into table. Is there any way to save views of tables (so the table updates rather than having to use the filter function) - I have several conditional formats (to colour cells) set up and these won't come through on filters I don't think (the conditions relate to data that wont be in the filter set). Looking to replicate the 'custom view' function to give me several view I can switch between but using data from a table. Any help greatly appreciated.
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Kevin, Awesome explanation. I finally get filtering now.
Just what I was looking 4!
Again ---> You are the best of the best
Again ---> You are the son of technology
Kevin, I learned things here. thanks
Brilliant, thank you!
thanks for the video. I subscribe to MS 365. Can I use the filter function to search and display using multiple criteria? Can the results be displayed in the same space as the original? what would be the syntax?
Great video. Thank you for sharing. A question: Can Filter command (in 365) handle wild-cat characters, or is there a way to do it, if we do not know exact values? Thanks,
You are rocking today, Kevin. Quick Question - Will the filter function work the same way if you filter against consolidated worksheets,i.e. pulling together data from various worksheets into one worksheet or an external workbook?
Hi sir, I was wondering how do we save the filter edits that me make? Everytime I filter the data, save it and close the document it reverts back to being unfiltered.
For the advanced filter, what if I want it to filter NY or NJ (show for both)?

How do you copy data based on a filtered list? Do you need to do anything special or can you just highlight everything you want to copy and paste? I can’t seem to figure out how to paste data into a filtered list either.
Can I use filters to drag other information from other tabs of the same worksheet?
How can you add to the drop-down how many entries you have for each category like for example how many stores do you have in New Jersey? I'm not saying filtering for the stores in New Jersey and seeing it in the spreadsheet but on the drop-down just seeing a number next to New Jersey that says how many entries there are for New Jersey? I think I've seen that but don't know how to do it
Thank you this really helped
does it work across sheets? I can't seem to make it work. It returns a bunch of zeroes.
