Appreciate the "Atmoss" pronunciation there for us UK folk! Great review, love my old DVD-Audio copy of this album; will certainly get hold of this one too.
Hey Mike, I'm in the process of putting together my first 7.2.4 system, had ordered an ATMOS copy for my 30 yr. old Son and one for me , looking forward to ATMOSFI-ING the MAN CAVE. Also Elton's Diamonds is coming' my way . CAN'T WAIT! THANKS for your efforts to keep the LIFESTYLE GROWING!
Thanks, I was going to pass on the Blu-ray since I only have a 5.1 system and I already have the DVD-A - but the harsh mastering on that makes it hard for me to listen to very often, so I appreciate the tip that the 5.1 mastering is less compressed on the Blu-ray - now I guess I'm gonna have to drop a little coin on it. One minor point: Elliot Scheiner has finally entered the Atmos world, despite his previous public comments that seemed to indicate he disliked the format, with the Madeleine Peyroux album Let's Walk. As far as I know, this is only available on the streaming services, and as a digital download.
Thank you very much for the video ,I had never heard this band, I immediately looked it up on Apple Music and listened to the full album in Dolby Atmos and the experience was brutal! thanks for the information.
Thanks for this review - although I have the DVD-A, hearing that the version on the bluray is more tempered and "listenable" makes me realize (!) that I need to get this too. Man, I wish that they'd do a similar release for "The Soft Bulletin". I adore that album, but the 5.1 mix on that DVD-A is just *TOO* active... too much hyperactive ping-ponging, it makes me not want to listen to it in surround. (they finally mastered the 5.1 mix on "At War With The Mystics", imo -- an EXCELLENT mix that's active and inventive but not annoying). Wish to hell they'd release that "Embryonic" mix, if it actually exists :(
Hi Mukka, just wandering what would be my best crossover frequency for my speakers. I currently have them all set at 80Hz. Sony 1080, kef Q series 7.1.
In the top 3 of my favorite albums, definitely. The 5.1 mix is probably the one that made me switch to surround. And yet I didn't buy the Atmos mix :). The Phoebe mentioned is probably more the one from the Charmed series than the one from Friends!
Subbed. Amazing album and nice commentary.
For years that was always one of my go to 5.1 DVD audios. The Atmos mix brings it more alive.
Great review. Finally gave in and purchased the Blu-Ray for about $25 on Amazon. Should arrive in a few days.

Honestly I wish that DVD-AUDIO, Blu-Ray pure audio, and SACD would become just as mainstream as regular CDs, Vinyl, and streaming.

Love tovhear you thoughts on r.e.m.s 5.1 catalogue and also automatic Atmos mix
Don't have Atmos, but, pre-ordered it to upgrade from the DVD.

Got it and loved the mix! I might be looking for the 5.1 dvd, didn’t get that back in the day

It’s Pheobe from Friends.
