I'm still using my 6400h. I recently entertained the idea of a 6800 or Marantz Cinema 30, but there's bugger all wrong with my amp and I really enjoy the 7.2.4 set up. 😌 I will keep it till it blows. Mains are Mission 753 Centre Mission e8c Surround Mission e82 Surround rear, Mirage Omnistat V2 FS Rear height, Bowers & Wilkins FPM4 Front height, Mission 731i Subs, Bowers & Wilkins PV1. Sounds incredible.

Appreciate the "Atmoss" pronunciation there for us UK folk! Great review, love my old DVD-Audio copy of this album; will certainly get hold of this one too.

Thanks for this review - although I have the DVD-A, hearing that the version on the bluray is more tempered and "listenable" makes me realize (!) that I need to get this too. Man, I wish that they'd do a similar release for "The Soft Bulletin". I adore that album, but the 5.1 mix on that DVD-A is just *TOO* active... too much hyperactive ping-ponging, it makes me not want to listen to it in surround. (they finally mastered the 5.1 mix on "At War With The Mystics", imo -- an EXCELLENT mix that's active and inventive but not annoying). Wish to hell they'd release that "Embryonic" mix, if it actually exists :(

For years that was always one of my go to 5.1 DVD audios. The Atmos mix brings it more alive.

How much time should pass between remixes to make owning them all reasonable? As for the photos and essays they could really be provided online to keep down the cost of the disc. Will someone other than Steve Wilson make an amazing remix that is a must have revelation? When are we going to get a stem version so we can do our own remixes? After all they have a wealth of material just crying out to be played at a rave!

In the top 3 of my favorite albums, definitely. The 5.1 mix is ​​probably the one that made me switch to surround. And yet I didn't buy the Atmos mix :). The Phoebe mentioned is probably more the one from the Charmed series than the one from Friends!

Thanks, I was going to pass on the Blu-ray since I only have a 5.1 system and I already have the DVD-A - but the harsh mastering on that makes it hard for me to listen to very often, so I appreciate the tip that the 5.1 mastering is less compressed on the Blu-ray - now I guess I'm gonna have to drop a little coin on it. One minor point: Elliot Scheiner has finally entered the Atmos world, despite his previous public comments that seemed to indicate he disliked the format, with the Madeleine Peyroux album Let's Walk. As far as I know, this is only available on the streaming services, and as a digital download.

Also wondering about the 5.1 mix for Embryonic would absolutely love to hear that if anyone has any information on it, haven’t been able to find anything online

Love the Podcast and your comments 'every time' on Multichannel. I have a modest Denon system with speakers on 3' stands spaced out just right and two Yamaha subwoofers. Have mixes from King Crimson to Beatles (boots). to Elton John. Cannot find SACD/Multi's anywhere other than Discogs, Amazon or EBAY. You know why its special. I'd love to find a bootleg of other artists?? If you know...thanks for the info!

This Quadio series is fantastic !! Didn't think in my lifetime that original Quadraphonic albums would get a reissue in such large numbers. I hope Sony music reads this as us collectors would love to see some original Columbia SQ quad titles released in true quad using the BR format - remember, the 8tracks versions masters were in true quad ! Love your update videos !

I have the Doobies set and I have the Q8 of the Jefferson Starship, tho i am really looking forward to hearing Jefferson Starship in better fidelity, I am really looking forward to hearing Foghat and J Geils! Maybe one day Billy Joel Turnstiles will finally get its first ever discrete release (only had matrix quad LP, never discrete tape)

I ended up buying 3 of the 4 from this batch, Seals and Crofts sounds great. I don't always buy the whole quadio batch as last batch I skipped The Divine Miss M.

Woohoo,! I knew that first Jeffetson Starship album would be the favorite. Ride the Tiger is one of the best album side openers of all time and Caroline one of the best closers! Almost up there with Black Dog and Stairway in my book. Can't wait to hear it in quad! Kickass rythm section, smokin quitar licks and beautiful harmonies!

I love the quadio series from Rhino and really hope that it goes from strength to strength.

Not a huge Bowie fan. And never owned this album on vinyl until this new mix. The Atmos mix is really good. But the biggest difference for me was really to hear the new stereo mix. So much more potent and clear than the original. Btw. Are you planning on doing a review of the new album with Blood Incantation? The box includes both Atmos and DTS. And it's absolutely fantastic imo.

Fish’s first solo record is my favorite. I’m so used to the original mix, I’m cautiously optimistic about the remix. And I am looking forward to the 5.1 mix. I already own most of the other material, so in some ways I’m getting the deluxe edition to support Fish as an artist and as a thank you for so many years of providing part of the soundtrack of my life.

Hey Mike, I have a question about Billy Paul's 360 degrees Dutton Quad . A part of Me and Mrs. Jones is obviously from an alternative take, is this because of some problem with the master tape that it had to be "Spliced in" or would there be some other reason. An INCREDIBLE QUAD MIX by the way. Not a complaint, just interested in the whole editing process. THANKS!

Managed to get an iso rip and burn it to a dvd it sounds amazing just wish it would get reissued it's well expensive on the used market

It saddens me that they didn't rename the album to the original pitch I mean they eventually got away with tiredaf I guess ill buy it, burn it and write the original name on it haha I guess theres aways 40 or 50 for a bonus disc

I only need to know one thing with any of these remixes - is Ronno's guitar louder in the mix? And the answer is always no. Sometimes it's even quieter than it was before. Inexcusable. The Bowie estate are the only ones in the entire world who'd minimise something as glorious as Ronson's guitar. Tony DeFries said that Bowie was jealous of the attention that Ronno got. Sometimes you have to wonder.

Hey Mike, It is fun and interesting to hear how you fell into the CRAZY WORLD OF MULTICHANNEL MUSIC ! I have been into it since the Q8 years of the 70'S and never lost interest in the HOBBY . I'm getting my first DUAL HEIGHT CHANNEL amp this week surely in part to your GREAT VIDEOS ! I just purchased an SACD MULTICHANNEL of my favorite SAX PLAYER, SCOTT HAMILTON WITH STRINGS, listened to it in full last night , and was completely Blown Away. I didn't know that disc existed until a week ago. I also have an extremely varied interest in all genres of music and recently set up a LAY-Z BOY SURROUND SYSTEM with UP CLOSE KLIPSCH bookshelf speakers and SUB and it's even better than I thought it would be. So just kickin' back and enjoying RETIREMENT LIFE IN SURROUND !!!

It depends on the system....I use a Vizio sound bar... using my phone with surround sound mode 😊...it sounds like Quard movie 🍿🎥 mode

I got myself a copy and just gave it a first spin and ooooh boy what a ride! Generally speaking, now seems to be a good time for awesome prog releases in surround: I have been listening to the new Blood Incantation blu ray over and over (70s prog meets death metal), right until the postman brought this gem by Look to Windward :) The only minor complaint I have would be about the programming of the blu ray menu, but that's nothing, a major label could not easily solve, and in the end this is where this band belongs imho: into the ears of the masses because this is great music
