Dubai needs to hurry up with expanding their metro. The city is still practically impossible to get around with the metro alone. Unlike cities like Tokyo, Singapore, or NYC.
Dear, compare the age of Dubai and how old is Tokyo and NYC. Dubai did great and they are moving forward in rapid speed already, that no body else could handle. It will be there, just be patient. Those cities you mentioned, got all their metro lines not in 10 nor 20 years... much more.
@@Idrisbroker And Singapore? They got their metro lines in 20 to 30 years. The UAE was founded in 1971 50 years ago and only Dubai has a metro. It's embarrassing.
@@Idrisbroker And NYC and Tokyo built their transit lines as the technology came to be. Dubai and the rest of the UAE have the benefit of hindsight, and they STILL built their cities around cars instead of planning for mass transit when the UAE got founded. Now Abu Dhabi is struggling to create a metro because the island's infrastructure doesn't allow it. Just drive through Abu Dhabi's new areas. All roads. Not even a tram, or space for future metro tracks. The new tram they announced is just an XL-sized bus. And Dubai is building more roads and bridges instead of metro tracks. So what if other cities took decades and decades to built their metros? Dubai's slogan is nothing is impossible and yet we're stuck with the same metro line from 10 years ago. Clearly it's impossible for them to build decent mass transit.
Epic or not depends on how long it takes to finish the plan. If it's going to finish in a year, of course it is. If it's in 5 years, ok, not bad. If it's in 10 years, what a shit! If you look Guangzhou subway future plan, they are planning to add 148 stations by 2023, that's in 3 years.

Great video. Very ambitious plan, but it won't happen in real life. I used to live next to Al Furjan Metro, and watched it being built from my living room window. The Red Line Extension shown at 2:09 was build especially for Expo 2020. Outside of that, the new line does not have a high demand. I doubt it is breaking even right now. If the Al Maktoum Airport extension plan is complete, the only extra bit of the Metro that can be justified is the extension from Expo 2020 to the airport. Other than that, Blue, Green extension, purple, pink, yellow, goes to areas that are not tourist heavy. Yes, it'll be great for the people who live there (like me with Al Furjan), but this is not where the big expat money is; they live elsewhere. Judging from a lot of abandoned projects I have seen in Dubai, they cannot justify building the Metro extension until the world economy goes back up to match its heyday.... which won't happen.
Jvc and barsha on the purple line is crazy crowded now. Huge traffic jams to get in and out . Also Sharjah and international city are pretty crowded so blue line would see heavy use as well. Makhtoum airport will also get bigger once palm jebel Ali opens up so all lines connecting there will see heavy use from people living and working in Dubai . There will also be cheaper accommodations built then budget travelers will come if the cheaper places are connected by metro to tourist hotspots. So it makes perfect sense to complete these lines
This is great I do hope that they should first convince expant to say here in the UAE, minimize the rent and do business so that they can sustain the money for the construction of these. Dubai has only 3 milion compared to other major city which is about 20.millii.
The future plan seems to be the 2040 plan. That still is 18 years aways and a lot will change until then. And even if they build all those lines, the network will still be small for a city of that size.

That’s not wasting. In fact they get investment by doing that. All the expenses they incur in changing the name will be borne by the sponsor.
