Love your dark elf vids Mercy!
I started another Lokhir campaign recently, and it's been my favourite so far. Sacked the undead in Cathay, took the two starting coastal provinces and got the Red Blades before quitting cathay to sack Mazdamundi.
I never fought a Cathay faction before leaving, just trespassed to get the quest weapons, so I was able to leave my ports undefended.
I funneled all that loot money back into my ports and black arks, made a trade agreement with Morathi, then returned to Cathay before they rallied against me.
I had a level 5 black ark, my economy was strong, and I had huge upkeep reduction from the Ark. I made more and created an army to unleash upon Cathay.
Now the war has begun I've taken some of the Riverlands, the Northern Territories are almost defeated but the Western Provinces and Golden Order have attacked in the south which is much less defended.
I'm using a melee focused army for Lokhir and other Lords, Sisters of Slaughter, Witch Elves, Death hags and monsters. Its good fun.
Also regarding Dark Magic, I find it good as a cheap anti armour, anti infantry spell off the bat. The winds recharge is great to use on Hydras because they regen the damage, and an overcast Word of Pain can totally gimp a lord or hero so you can get a quick kill.
Blade storm is a strong albeit brief vortex, so you have your infantry mower there, if needed. It's a bit random for a melee army though, unless you soften the enemy up first.
Soul Stealer is fantastic for an Arch Sorceress, mainly because its a guaranteed strong heal in a faction that can't get life magic.

My favorite DE campaign!
I started a Malekith campaign a few days ago. His start is way tougher than WH2.
If you want an easy start, Rush the Skaven, and then sell their regions to Grombrindal for alliance. If you can get buddy/alliance Grombi then the campaign is much easier. Eventually you should be able to surround and strangle Grombi then betray him later once you are ready.
