During the long Major League Baseball (MLB) season, it is extremely normal for big league hitters to have hot and cold streaks. For success in the MLB, it is all determined by how long you are able to stay away from those dreaded cold streaks and keep your hot streaks alive. Sometimes, this results in players seeing those hot streaks during various times of the day, certain weeks, months, or even specific years. Ketel Marte of the Arizona Diamondbacks is one of the most interesting examples of this.
Ketel Marte plays second base for the Diamondbacks and if you take a look at his stats, he seemingly loves to hit on odd-numbered years. For the past 6 seasons, Ketel produced exceptional hitting stats in 2019, 2021, and 2023, but had been quite underwhelming in 2018, 2020, and 2022. Have the Baseball and MLB gods cursed Ketel Marte to only hit during specific years or is there a bigger story behind his strange success?

If the Giants ever sign Marte he might win an MVP😂
Great video!!
I heard that (sorry if I’m wrong)Ozzie Albies has a similar problem, with him being elite hitting right and average hitting left.
Yup, you're absolutely right! Throughout his career, Ozzie has been much better on his right side, similarly to Ketel.
Please hit the baseball analysis niche algorithm
i feel like mcneil is similar?
I think this had alot to do with injuries and arizona not handling those nagging injuries n bouncing him around from 2nd to OF ... this year he was able to focus his offseason training for 2nd base
Do you collect ketel marte baseball cards
Nah, I’ve got some baseball cards over the years but never really was an avid collector or anything.
Rodrigo Lopez was kind of the same way, despite being better in even years.
