Never in my life did I expect to hear Zelda themes in the back of a baseball video but now that I have, I felt the need to say it works so well. You’re the man
Ichiro may have been 27 and already a Seasoned Vet in Japan but boy once he crossed the Pacific, he torched opposing pitchers. Lots of his critics doubted his style would work in the high octane world that is the MLB... so he proceeded to win a Gold Glove, made the most iconic outfield throw IN HIS FOURTH GAME, a Sliver Slugger, broke the Rookie Hits in a Season Record, Rookie of the Year, and MVP... then proceeded to break the Most Hits in a Season three years later and even if he arrived during his Prime Years, still managed to reach the MLB 3000 Hits Club which a lot fail to do even if they make an MLB Roster at 20 years old. 😂
19:25 Dick Allen died a handful of years ago now. I think his brother's still alive and the questions just went to him after Allen died. From what I've read/watched, some people didn't really like Allen because he was a bit of a defiant and rebellious black man in the wake of the civil rights bill being passed, so there may have been a few writers who had it out for him. I think his stats speak for themselves, though, and his continuous snub is getting old. Also, Joe Jackson (and Buck Weaver, who might have been a HOF'er himself) definitely didn't throw the 1919 WS. Kennesaw Mountain Landis is a piece of crap who kept baseball segregated and tried to ban Babe Ruth too because he was petty.
I did not want to mention Corbin for the video since the season still had a month and a half left when I started working on it and didn’t want to speculate where he’d end up. He’s had a phenomenal year though.
I agree, Posey’s one of the best catchers of all time in my opinion, but he missed almost 60 games that year and just didn’t quite get enough fWAR to make the list.
Definitely have that in mind. Lot of guys from the 1800s though so may just do since integration because it was already a bit of a challenge with the early 1900s hitters. Glad you enjoyed!
Williams had a fantastic rookie year, just didnt rack up a high war and therefore a lot of people dont know that he had 31 homeruns, a .327 batting average, and a 1.045 ops, oh and a 160 ops+ in his rookie year. He was also 20 years old.
Mike , like mickey just couldn't do it long term. Mikes best days are long gone and alcohol stopped mick.. . Ich was a absolute stud. to bad he didn't get over to the MLB a few seasons earlier 😔. Randy is amazing!!!
RBIs are a team stat at best if your team sucks your not gonna have many RBIs. BA matters but OBP is better because it accounts for walks lol. And Home Runs are still valued heavily by everybody
For sure! I’ve actually got plans to cover all the awards like the MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and so on. Probably after the playoffs end. Stay tuned!
Absolutely! Fred Lynn was one of the players I had in mind and I do bring him up in the video! I wasn’t able to go in depth on his career but I just had to cut down on some player sections as I was making it.
I personally don’t really think ones better than the other overall but more they each do something better on individual aspects. So, for position players at least, I lean towards fWAR.
On the batting side I prefer fWAR and on the fielding side I prefer bWAR. But I usually lean bWAR because wrc+ and ops+ usually come out pretty similarly but drs and uzr don't. I think drs is a much better stat than uzr, so I like bWAR. That being said neither drs or uzr existed yet in 2001, so no idea which one was better when Ichiro was a rookie. Although considering he was an MVP 7.7 makes more sense than 6.0 in my opinion.@@ABrandNewBallGame
I don’t care what WAR says lol most overrated stat, Fernándo Valenzuela won a cy young and was the ace of a World Series winning team, had 11 complete games and 8 shut outs. Pitchers can’t throw over 100 pitches these days back then he was throwing 150, and beyond that he became a sensation. New fans focus too much on advance stats and forget about moments that made those seasons magical
I don't count Pujols' rookie season because who knows how old he really was. I think he was at least 4 years older than his birth certificate, because we all know how shady a Dominican birth certificate can actually be.
Jackie Robinson! No rookie had more pressure and stress to deal with as a rookie than Jackie Robinson.
Never in my life did I expect to hear Zelda themes in the back of a baseball video but now that I have, I felt the need to say it works so well. You’re the man
Ichiro had the best rookie season I've ever seen. AL Rookie and MVP (plus Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, and All-Star game appearance) 👀
Too many forgot about him.
@@Ascending11 I don’t think anybody forgot about him
+batting title, stolen base title, leading his team to 116 wins after losing Arod
Don't forget smashing the Rookie Hits Record, then smashing the Season Hits Record three years later... 😂
He wasn’t a real rookie. You know that.
A-rod was 12 at bats past the rookie limit at the start of '96, he hit 358 with 54 doubles 36 bombs 123 rbi...
Ichiro. I know he was 27 and an established star in japan but he came here and was INCREDIBLE
fantastic almost unreal video for a guy with under 750 subs.
you deserve so much more my guy keep it up!
I really thought that Ichiro or Pujols were gonna be the top finisher. They were rookies in the same season which is mind blowing. Great video
i’m new to baseball but really appreciate these breakdowns. on a smaller channel too, respect
Thanks! One thing I really hope to do with these videos is not make it too confusing for people just getting into baseball, so I appreciate it!
@@ABrandNewBallGame yeah thank you bro

See bo Jackson for best throw

black guy
how is this channel not huge, great videos
Great job! Balanced coverage. Looking for more...!
Hey man, just wanted to let you know i really enjoy your videos, they are awesome. Keep up the good work!
Excellent video. You definitely earned my subscription!
Just found your channel, really enjoy your content, keep it up!
You are such a underrated UA-camr
Thanks! That really means a lot to me and I hope you enjoyed the video!
Great video, earned my sub
Corbin Carroll first rookie ever to hit 25 hr and 50 sb. Started the all star game for the NL as well
I did not want to mention Corbin for the video since the season still had a month and a half left when I started working on it and didn’t want to speculate where he’d end up. He’s had a phenomenal year though.
Hypothetical speaking where would he be?
Botw music is a nice touch
Actually just all the music period
I was going to say, that's Mario Galaxy at the beginning. But there's all sorts music including BOTW in there at some point 👍
How is Buster Posey not on this list? 133 OPS+ in 2010...he literally carved out the path Rutschman is on right now...
I agree, Posey’s one of the best catchers of all time in my opinion, but he missed almost 60 games that year and just didn’t quite get enough fWAR to make the list.
Rito village playing during adley was perfect
how do you not have fred lynn. Won MVP rookie year
New sub! Super interesting video
Loving the soundtrack
Sucks that trouts has be injured the past 3 years
2001 will always be my favorite ROY season.🎉
“McCovey” is NOT pronounced Mih-COVE-y, it’s Mih-CUH-vy.
Loved the rest of the video!
Good job 👍
Would love to see a similar list for pitchers. Great job!
Definitely have that in mind. Lot of guys from the 1800s though so may just do since integration because it was already a bit of a challenge with the early 1900s hitters. Glad you enjoyed!

I am a big nintendo fan (specially smash) so the music in this video threw me off so hard but great video nonetheless 😆❤

Jackie Robinson, Ichiro, Fernando Valenzuela, McGwire, Judge
It's Mark Eichorn, 1986.
Im surprised center field is considered a tough position. It was the easiest position for me, I consider catcher the toughest position
@5:08 Gay Rod???
Growing up if a hitter had 3000 hits they were hof. I’ll bend to 2500 but to think someone with only 1800 hits could be in the hall is crazy.
Why’d you skip Ted Williams?
I wanted to but I had to cut down on some players as I was making it.
Aaron Judge and Mark McGwire. I hate when they bring up the stupidest stats. What happened to Average, Home Runs, RBI's?
RBIs are a team stat at best if your team sucks your not gonna have many RBIs. BA matters but OBP is better because it accounts for walks lol. And Home Runs are still valued heavily by everybody
@@alphaxiro3845 These new stats like WAR or GWAR i do not know what it means. OBP i know is on base percentage.
How is Fernando Valenzuela not here??!! Is ridiculous
Darin Erstad is the random angels players.
trout had the best all around rookie year and no one can change my mind
Roy is almost a death curse .might as well be pick #1 .. it's cursed
Can you make a video on the 2023 NL MVP race?
For sure! I’ve actually got plans to cover all the awards like the MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and so on. Probably after the playoffs end. Stay tuned!
No Fred Lynn?? I'm pretty sure he won the MVP...u don't think winning an mvp in ur first season is pretty great???
Absolutely! Fred Lynn was one of the players I had in mind and I do bring him up in the video! I wasn’t able to go in depth on his career but I just had to cut down on some player sections as I was making it.
Lynn was on the list somewhere in the top ten and yes he had a great rookie season!
ZELDA!!!!!
angel berroa
Buster Posey
Should've used bWAR it's better! Also hates on Ichiro for some reason, he had a 7.7 bWAR in 2001.

It’s Trout. There is no debate

what does the age have to do with that 🤨 2001 was his first season and that's that. Also not every Dominican has lied about their age 🤦🏿♂️
Even if pujols was 30 in his rookie season he was still a rookie and facing major league pitching for the first time in his life
