Line 6 Spider Jam guitar amp does EVERYTHING!

- Not since the Fender G-dec series have I seen so much functionality as the the dubiously-named Line 6 Spider Jam. It can record through line or XLR, create loops, save abundant user patches with multi-effects, and pump out a big variety of rhythms with bass and other backing sounds. only two criticisms: 1. the chorus effects is way too heavy, and 2. The rhythms are polished but verrrry conservative and a little bit ...square. Apart from that, this is an excellent unit all 'round.
Although I own a Blackstar TVP ID260 2x12 amp I want to say that you did one hell of a job on this video and the Line 6 Jam is the perfect amp for those that are writing original songs or instrumentals..you should be proud of yourself for not only selling this amp(its one of the better line 6 models BTW)but also the way you broke down the amp functions and explained it easily so that even a beginner can understand it..oh and also nice guitar jamming bro!
Thanks, AD - Having a crappy day here and it was great to get this message :) #gearfacts

Yeah Line 6 is great :)
Can u use the line 6 G10 wireless system on it? Says works with bout all the spider amps???
I don't remember seeing that in the manual, but it might be worth checking again :)
the old line 6 were decent some hated them but theyve made good stuff since yamaha bougt them
much better "getting started" video than the Line 6 official video = thanks !
Hey that's great to hear, thanks so much!
Covered mine in gray crocodile skin
very cool!
Post a picture or a link.
This amp was a good surprise for me. Bought it just for practice so I didn't wait that much from it. The first days I didn't like the amp too much, but after some tweaks it sounds quite good and it's fairly easy to use and powerful. It's a good amp for small gigs, training, recording, singing, playing with 2 guitars, great usability .
Yep It's certainly got a lot of versatility and good basic sounds .GF
This was best amp they put everything else is not that good. The catalyst is ok.
It's feature-heavy, no doubt about that :)
Awesome totally glad to see that line 6 has come out with another great.
I put down somewhere around $500 for my spider two back when I bought it and it's just like this video says that amp is paid for every dollar that I spent on it because it's so versatile and heavy duty and sounds great
Totally agree with your comment. It's had its day now, but what a classic!
Still got mine and still use it. Still the best (practice) amp ever. I might get one more before they discontinue it.
Rick Pierce got mine second hand coming back to playing after a wile love it Alan flynn
I bought this amp several years ago. I use to mainly for the drums/song/jamming. I've never had any problems with the buttons or knobs because I don't mess around with them too much. I play mostly classic rock and blues and I have both settings saved, so I haven't tweeked any knobs in years. If you want to learn how to play in a band without the hassles, this is for you,. If you are just starting out or an intermediate player, get this. Thank me later.
Nice informative delivery: no mumbling or awkward pauses. I had one of these amps a few years ago and it was very good other than not being as intuitive as my Fender G-DEC 15. I've just bought another one as my G-DEC 30 is about to receive the last rites. This video has just got me back up to speed on it. Thanks. :-)
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the message :)
I have one and I love it!
Does anyone know if you can control the start and stop on the drum tracks with a foot pedal?
Thanks for your reply. I called their customer service and promptly solved it.... the spider jam will only accept a 2 GB card! I was trying a 32....He said if i get the proper card , no more problems with that. Fyi 😀
Ah! As I suspected! Good service there from Line 6 :) #gearfacts
In today's world of computers and performance,,,
I was sad to hear this fact.
To me, this is not good news.
This is like the old Briggs and Stratton lawnmower motors.
They are built to run their "parts" off,,, but then they put a governor on the throttle assembly so you can only go to a certain number of low RPM's.
I would love to hear an explanation of why this capability is limited to 2 GB?
What does "external storage capacity" have to do with this amps abilities to store any more GB of info..?
In today's world of HD and video processing, that's not a very large size for some of the videos I have produced.
Reply would be appreciated?
Is this amp good for bass guitar?Thinking of getting one.please advise me.Thanks
Pretty good on bass, yep, but no actual bass amp models. I'm going to a peace march this weekend!
Have you tried playing bass through the spider jam as well as playing both bass and guitar through it at the same time?
No, never tried that ...and now it's gone! Gearfacts
Bass sounds good on it with my jackson kellybird bass
please how can I load presets from sd card to jam?
Any idea how to back up recordings off this amp? I have a whole library of loops I made years ago I want to back up and save since I filled it's bank completely long ago
No, but Line 6 is great at hosting very lively user forums on their website. I suggest looking there, and if you don't have the manual you can google "Line 7 Spider Jam pdf" and it'll be the first result :) Gearfacts
@Iddevo88 I have the same amp. You can either insert an SD card into the SD card slot located on the back of the amp panel. Then through the settings, there should be an option to transfer the audio files onto the SD card. Alternatively, you could connect the "POD Quality/Recording Output" connectors on the back of the amp with the use of a two channel stereo to audio jack or USB connector. Which can be purchased at almost any electronics store. I recommend referring to the user manual for details and/or the Line 6 forms on their website as Gearfacts mentioned.
I see 3 effects on one knob but can you use more than one of those at the same time?
Yep you can use all three
@@gearfacts haven't played electric guitar for 15 years I just picked up an EOB StraT looking for a amp for practice. Torn Between the 75-watt jam and the spider V Mark to be 120 any thoughts?
An excellent idea for an amp, so many possibilities and especially good for honing one's guitar skills.
Yep. I love gear than can multi-task like this :) #gearfacts
I have this amp and it’s sounds great on its own without even using the looper I was very surprised as everybody says spider amps are shit
Yep, you just have to choose the right Spider. And you did :) The other good ones are the Spider II amps, they outperform all others in the series.
MAN!!..I JUST LUVVV U.....U DID THE BEST JOB...ur reviews are the best....
Woah cool man! Share that love! haha Thanks for watching, glad you liked it so much :) Geafacts
Using the cd/Mp3 jack, Am I able to play my MP3 player with backing tracks on it and be able to play my guitar along with it?
Yep that should work
What you prefer, this line 6 jam ornthe line 6 spider v 120?
I prefer the Jam
I have one. I enjoy mine. Love recording with my analog equipment with it.❤
It's certainly versatile.
still got this same old shitty amp model sounds, but great jam features.I would set the AMP on CLEAN and use a JHS Angry Charie in front of it.
Agreed. The Spider 2 had excellent amp models, but this one sounds more like the Spider 3/4 which were nowhere near as good and definitely need the help of pedals. Thanks for watching Gearfacts :)
Brian Wampler, makes it sound better with a Wampler Plexi-drive Deluxe tweeking the bass mid & treble
"Tweaking a Line 6 Spider amp to work with guitar pedals"
Do you cover problems with transfering songs from the internal to the sc card?! When I try to save it or see the se file it seems to do a factory reset or a shut down...thanks , gr8 video
Woah, I can't explain that problem, Jeff. Maybe its internal battery needs to be replaced. I'd start with a factory reset, and maybe check the Line 6 website to see if there are any updates. Also I'd try a different SD card. It's a strange one, though - there might be a fault. #gearfacts
Thanks for the demo , iv'e just ordered this amp . I have a couple fender's , ones a combo 2 channel and the other's a frontman basic. Maybe a dumb question but can i run my pedal's through this amp? Iv'e seen mixed review's online , some say it sounds like garbage and others say on the clean channel it will work????
Yes you can run pedals into it. I suggest turning the drive sound off and using your external pedal instead, capitalizing on its good modulation and delay effects. Don't get too caught up in reviews and opinions - your opinion is the only one that matters :)
@@gearfacts Thanks brother , appreciate it.
just received mine today. has 2.0. i notice there is a 2.09 upgrade. it indicates i should backup any wav. files/settings saved. does that apply only to user files? or all presets etc? thanks if you can help me out!
Just the user files :) GF
Hi can you help me, My amp was stuck on logo
Sorry I don't know the solution to that. Factory reset possible maybe? Or connect to computer to see if you can still communicate with it?
Should I plug a Casio wk 3800 in the guitar jack or the auxiliary jack of the line 6 spider jam 2.0 75
Greatest amp ever
There's nothing like buying a bit of kit and discovering that it's everything you hoped it'd be! Thanks for watching Gearfacts :)
Can you set the bpm on the drum presets
Yep
@@gearfacts how
Maybe can u do a quick demo for my intelligence has me using a GPS to find the bathroom thanx
How many watts is it?
I think it's 50 watts but you might want to google that just to be sure #gearfacts
It's 75w
Hello ! I want some setting for the microphone please !!
I have one and it's awesome Its just what I needed to record all my original stuff it's really a great amp
It is indeed :)
I have one of these amps, the only shortfalls I have come across is that when using this amp next to other amplifiers you sometimes get feedback, also the selections knobs break off easily, and the standard electronics engineers can’t fix these amps, as the units are sealed and you needs specialist equipment from the line six factory to open it up. In the end I had to post my amp to the Line 6 factory to get repairs done.
Argh, it's a bummer when you have to go B2B
Are the backing rhythms built into the amp or do you have need a computer or smart phone to use them. I really would like an inexpensive amp that I can play along with, that has backing tracks/drums, without the need to have to download stuff. Many thanks.
They’re built in to the amp. Remarkable quality too.
@@gearfacts Many thanks for your reply. I'm now going to search for one in good condition. Best wishes 2U. Thank you. Kim
@@TheKimgower It's a jammer's delight. All the best!
@@gearfacts Hi, is there a particular version you would recommend, as I have seen a version 2.0 with the green label on front which says version 2.0 but also another with the yellow label stuck on the front, which I can only assume to be version 1.0 or the original. I might be making a mountain out of a molehill, just wondered that's all. Many thanks Kim.
@@TheKimgower I'm not aware of any difference at all between those two. Could be just a marketing thing.
plssssss can u make a VIDEO ON STAGG S250 ELECTRIC GUITAR?????...I am from INDIA...plssssss help me out...n I am one of ur big fan!!!!
Looks great. But can it make scrambled eggs?
i have this amp, do you think i need a noise gate pedal?
Yes, the built-in noise gate is very poor as I recall. Gearfacts
@@gearfacts ok thank you!
Yes
Line 6 sucks , but I might give this one a try. The problem with line 6 is you spend all your time in the settings and not much practiceing. And the amp models don't sound like the amps .
Yeah this amp allows you to de everything in theory, but really you're going to need to extra effects to make it happen.
Does it tell you what key that the rhythms are in? thx
Yes if I remember correctly it does :) #gearfacts
@@gearfacts ok,thanks
I have exactly the same and I love it!
Hello,
What's the best line 6 foot switch pedalboard out there, for this amp?
I like the Line 6 Shortboard.
can somebody play some Van Halen on this Line 6 Spider Jam show me how to set it up and I love to hear it played before I buy this thank you

Sounds great!
THanks for watching Gearfacts :)
I’m trying to learn guitar and I have an old crappy Washburn kit guitar and amp that I got as a kid probably over 10 years ago, but something isn’t working I thought it was the amp. I am borrowing this amp from my friend and something is still wrong. Should I get a new cable or is something wrong with the guitar potentially?
I am almost certain that the problem is with the guitar, but try a different cable too. I think your amp is fine :) #gearfacts
Gearfacts thabks! I don’t really know much about guitars and ism not sure what would be wrong with it I think it has passive pickups
@@gfeast4518 Hmmm that shouldn't make any difference. Maybe a bad contact in one of the connections?
Spider 3 correct line 6 said
Good demonstration, best I`ve seen. Thanks for your time....
Smuggins Thanks man - it’s not a very high rating vid but those who watch it generally seem pretty happy. It’s a very interesting amp.
btw that avatar is just ...disturbing!
Just a bad hair day.
I love line6 too
i have had this speaker quiet sometimes and i didnt know how to use it till now after watching this video thanks bro.
I'm glad it was helpful :) GF
Great stuff can you run this to a 2nd cab ?
I don’t recall seeing a cab output but it might be worth searching that up online coz it’s a good question!
I didn’t hear one tone I would want to use. Granted I’m listening over my phone’s speaker but none of them sound fat or full. Synthetic and too much goobly gop effects.
Lucky I put this review up to save you wasting your money on it ;)
I tried this amp today man, I thought it didn't sound as pure. Like its digital, what do you say? Have you tried the boss katana too?
Antonio xcecutor2 I agree to a large extent, it’s good sound quality but not great like many other Line 6 products. Only analog sounds analog :) Gearfacts
Gearfacts yes! Indeed, which amp do you think is the best for line 6 products?
Too bad they don't make it anymore.
Agree :) Gearfacts
Musisians friends still sells them new
@@nathanwebster9851 Great. I actually found a local music store that had some brand new ones in the box and bought one.
I dont want one got the line 6 firehawk 1,500 watt 132 decimals
@@nathanwebster9851 Decibels? Why do you need so much volume/power?
I have this amp it's great but can i record something and remove to record to the computer??
Yes I think you can just remove the SD card and take the recording off it with your computer's SD socket (or adapter if you need one). You may need software from Line 6's website, I'd check that on google
Does it come with a pedal board, foot Switch? For foot control.....!
No, you have to buy that separately.
The effect at 6:18 was fantastic imo, what was it?
Tom Treacy flanger + chorus and some delay
They only last about 2 years. Ive been through 2 of them. I won't buy another
What failed on them? How much use were you getting? Like playing daily? Gigs? Just bought one so im curious
@@gmee123 The Chorus/flanger knob will not turn completely off, the different amp models will kind of bleed in together. The play pause button will stop working, the display will start messing up. It was just a practice amp no gigging. And this happened on both of them. If you don't have the footpedal to go with it, I suggest getting it. Save wear and tear on the buttons. When new, they are great. I love the concept behind the amp. They just don't last long enough.
@@gmee123 All of my videos are with the spiderjam.

The looper, the backing track and the record button are broken
Mine is too seems to be very common issue
Thanks for the demo! How does one record vocals and guitar at the same time? I am obviously not clever.
Hmm, too long since I've had this one to remember... I have a feeling that it can record two channels at a time, so you can run your guitar into it as well as vocals through the XLR socket. You'd have to search up the manual to get the full picture though (just google "Line 6 spider Jam PDF"). Thanks for watching! GF
Talking too fast for me! It sure doesn't take time to explain to a novice anyway.
Sorry about that, DL, I do tend to motor-mouth. If you go to the options (cog icon at the bottom right of the video) you can play it at a lower speed. Might help. Cheers :)
@@gearfacts Yeah, i tend to run my mouth sometimes when i should just listen. Sorry about that. You do great videos. Took your advice and it made a differnece. I have owned this amp for five years at least and never really used it much. Knowing more about it helped me and i will definitely give it more use now. It really is a phenomenal amp . Thanks again.
Does this have bluetooth?
Nyoop. Gearfacts :)
No
Not sounding good

Nope
ok where are the jams?
ooohhh, my jamming sounds even worse than my solo playing so I thought I'd spare y'all that discomfort... Thanks for your comment and please mention Gearfacts to your friends :)
Hahaha!!!!’
Can u record an entire album on this?
Yep, easy.
Only if your album is 24 mins or less. That is the total memory available on the amp. Unless of course you do it song by song, download it elsewhere, wipe the memory and start again with another song. Just keep in mind 24 mins record time.
You can use a memory card

As opposed to the non-toxic type?
