    Also noticed that for these smaller conditions that you opted for one of your boards with a flatter rocker and possibly longer around 9’ 6” versus the more rockered orange 9’ 4” that we’ve seen you riding in less predictable beach break conditions. All of these different choices that you make help those of us trying to figure out the perfect setup for our home breaks ;)

      Your switch stance looks so “normal”. Not mine! LOL!

    Ben, your video's are very informative. I watched a video you did about choosing a longboard and would really like to watch one with advice about width, tail shape etc for small waves, medium waves, etc. I live in Northland, NZ. I am 66 years old, was an advanced surfer in my youth, however after a hip replacement, etc, etc I am not as nimble as I once was and the surfing I can do in my mind is not matched by my performance on the water. I want a board that will glide, be good for nose riding and trimming on those small days on the east coast similar to what you were riding in the video. I have an 8' mid length and think a 9'6" longboard would be really helpful to add to the number of surfs I can get before I can't do it anymore. We have a limited selection of longboards here dominated by Torq, NSP, GSI surfboards Creative Army, Modern, TCSS and then the more expensive Thunderbolt brand. It is hard to know which is a good option because most boards are made overseas. What would your advice be?

    Yea good things to think about for better rides in the small stuff. Enjoy watching you surf and have a terrific time in the Nationals. Ok, off topic here. I love your theme song for your channel and looked for it, and a name but not find on your music side. 😊

      Thanks so much Cindy, super glad to hear you were able to get something from it 🙏🤙
      Haha as for the song, I haven’t released it or anything but it’s a song I wrote just as an instrumental a while back that I’ve used for the intro, the full song should be in a video I put up a while back called something like ‘traditional Longboarding 9’6 style master’
      🤙🤙🙏

    Good one 👍
    Would you ever consider a bigger fin in smaller and weaker waves.

    • @BenConsidine
      @BenConsidine  Рік тому +2

      Hey! I'd say it more depends on how I want to surf that day (more locked in noserides vs more manoeuvrability with turning) rather than opting for a big fin on a smaller day, on the other hand I would definitely go for a bigger fin on a bigger day if I wanted it to hold me in whilst noseriding as the bigger fin can be great for reducing the chance you'll slide out.
