      @@derekjohnson4109 That's kinda common as your brain isn't translating word by word but focusing on the context. So you might understand the meaning of one word used in a conversation but that same word wouldn't come to your mind when you're talking/writing.
      For talking/writing you need vocabulary skills, but for understanding you only need to understand the context.
      It's the same in English for me. I watch TV shows without subtitles but when I have to speak, I feel like I forgot everything.

    The thing I love about Netflix's foreign language offerings, compared to most other services, is that I can watch a Spanish series with Spanish subtitles or a French series with French subtitles. That way I don't feel as stressed about missing dialog, but I'm not just reading the dialog in English.

  • @scottlarson1548
    @scottlarson1548 Рік тому +12

    If you're barely intermediate in Spanish like me, I would recommend Casa de las Flores over The Money Heist. The Spanish in The Money Heist is full of people ripping through Spanish skipping every other syllable (I can't even read the subtitles as fast as they talk!) and the narration is naturally in the pretérito imperfecto tense, so if you haven't learned it you'll be confused by all the verbs ending in "aba". Also there are lots of technical words and a loud distracting soundtrack.
    Casa de las Flores has lot of conversation in a medium tempo that's full of every day intermediate Spanish words. There are also brief moments of English for you to relax your brain and periods without dialog which give you opportunities to look up all those words you didn't know.

    I LOVE "Made in Mexico!" It is a "reality" show in that all the characters are real people, not actors, but it isn't a competition. There are about nine main characters and the episodes are just about their lives and relationships with each other. Some are family, some are friends, but they are all in the same social circle--they are young--20-35 or so and very affluent. It takes place in Mexico City (which is gorgeous!). It is interesting to see "how the other half" lives and see what kinds of things young, rich Mexicans worry about. Nobody seems to do much actual work, but they all look good! Anyway, it is easy to fall in love with the characters and I was sorry when it was over. I think there is only one season.

    Morí de la risa con tu imitación jajaja XD No tengo Netflix, pero cuando colocaste el clip del personaje vi que lo habías imitado bien XD XD
    Lo de "Las crónicas del taco" ...
    Al oír ese título, pensé de inmediato en un taco adulto frente a un grupo de taquitos jóvenes, narrando sus historias, para luego ver llegar desde arriba en plan ovni, un enorme plato: ahí el taco dice "mi momento ha llegado" XD, se sube y los taquitos lo despiden emocionados XD
    Nop, definitivamente es mejor para el mundo que nunca haya sido director o escritor de cine XD
    Muy buenos videos, y me parece bien que en un canal como Netflix haya títulos en español (he oído que hay en otros idiomas también): eso facilita la práctica para los estudiantes de este canal.
    Mucha suerte con los videos!!!!!

    Question though, with the 3 different types of Spanish woudlit confuse a learner; they use slightly different words for basic things. Such as "tu" is NOT "you" in Spain or is it?

    • @correoordinario2010
      @correoordinario2010 2 роки тому +1

      In Spain we say:
      Tú (singular You).
      Vosotros (plural You).
      In some circumstances or regions of Spain we also use a polite form (some kind of thou for English):
      Usted (singular).
      Ustedes (plural).
      But remember, as I said previously, some Spaniard (mainly in South) they use only Usted/es as You. They don't normally use Tú/Vosotros.
      And the difference between Tu and Tú is that the first one means your. But the second is You.
      Tu casa es vieja - your house is old.
      Tú eres viejo - You are old.

    • @heatherfinnegan6582

      You hear vos in Colombian as well a lot For you but there’s actually a lot more than three types of Spanish dialect depending on where you are it’s different everywhere if you say carro to a Spaniard they will look at you funny I actually have friends from Spain friends from Cuba and friends from well a lot of other places too in most cases they’ll still understand you because I know my Spaniard friends will correct me with the proper Spanish words most of the time.

    "They are from Spain so they speak Spanish differently..." Yeah. They speak it well.

    Why do you speak the translation when you provide them in the caption. It's redundant and irritating

      I agree. It sounds like she's showing off her English rather than teaching Spanish.
      If she is recommending Spanish programs , then it's a given that the audience should be at level to be able to understand if she used pure Spanish. I don't want to be critical, but I found it condescending to a certain extent.

    None of these are good for learning spanish in my opinions. They're all good shows, but not for learning a new language.
