@@FluentUSpanish Have you made more?
Did u make more etc etc
@FluentUSpanish: Hii I have just watched this video and I absolutely loved it! I can’t think of better way how to learn especially with Friends series, thank you! Please please please can you do more of these in Friends series? 🙏🤗🇪🇸
I agree.
Very helpful. I wish there were more videos like this. 3 times through a scene, English subtitles, Spanish, then none. It's really that simple, and we'd all be able to speak fluently in a year.
Thanks, Shaun! Sounds like the app will work perfectly for you. Please try it for free: link.fluentu.com/bge

@@FluentUSpanish How many friends scene are there in your app ? I really want to learn spanish with Friends
It’d be something if I learn Spanish through Friends cuz I learned English watching this TV show😂 I’ve met many who don’t like Friends, but it still gets me every time over 20 years. I love this show ❤
We're happy you're enjoying our videos. 😊
That's how a learned English too 😂😂
this is the best material ever for a Friends fan to learn Spanish.
I wish there were more of these, i'll watch every one of them!
Glad you enjoyed it, Anton! 😊
Best material are telenovelas
Mario Castañeda's voicework is mucho excelente!
His work as Son Goku is stellar, 11/10.

It is soo helpful.
I've been having trouble to motivate myself. I want a more organic way to learn. I was thinking to watch the show in Spanish because I know countless dialogues word by word. And this video really helped. You are amazing. Keep it up! 💖
Thanks for the feedback! ❤️
Try songs too that's good way
@@tashabrennan6951 heyyy! I am currently doing this right now, I have long breaks until I start my next level as I am also pursuing a bachelor's in a different subject. And currently I am listening and trying to sing and play the songs, loving the process and it is helpful in exposure. I'll be doing more things with intention tho.
This is great. Thank you. It’s the most fun way to learn Spanish that I have found yet! I just wanted to mention that divertida does relate to the English word “divert.” One of the definitions of divert is “to entertain or amuse.” It’s a little old fashioned, but in historical English books, people find things “diverting” all the time. I like that the two words are connected.
Glad you liked it, Stacey!
"Divertida" means 3 things in Spanish. "Funny", "Entertaining" and "Fun Female person". To describe a male person it would be "Divertido".
the word "diversion" is also used in current times to describe a fun, entertaining or distracting activity!
Sometimes I like to remind myself that I used to study Spanish in high school and that even after 10 years without speaking Spanish actively, I still remember it. This never happens when I try to speak Finnish :)) I appreciate both this language and my teachers in high school - they did great job. ☺️
¡Esta lección es muy divertida! Gracias. Estoy apprediendo español en Duolingo. Esta video es mucho mejor. 🙌🏼🤗👍💯
Glad you liked it Dr. Braxy! Good luck! 😊
La lección es muy divertida, gracias. Estoy aprendiendo español en Duolingo, este video es mucho mejor. 🙌🏼🤗👍💯
Hola Braxy
¿Podrías estar refiriéndote a 'aprendiendo'?
I don't know why, but I love watching this kind of channels teaching Spanish to English speakers/foreigners. I'm Mexican and I completely adore my mother tongue, which is Spanish, of course, so if you have any question or wanna ask for a tip on whatever, just tell me in this comment so I can help you learn my beautiful language.
*Some extra tips*
The word "bochornoso" does mean "embarrassing" and does mean "muggy", but the word "bochorno" itsel can mean "embarrassment" or also "muggy weather", "muggy heat (wave)" and even "summer muggy air current".
Examples with "bochornoso":
1. Ayer viví un momento muy bochornoso cuando tuve una caída sobre un charco de lodo que me manchó la cara y la ropa. Toda la escuela se burló de mí (It was extremely embarrassing when I fell down on a mud puddle staining my face and all my clothes. Everybody laughed at me in the school that day).
2. Ayer estuvo superbochornoso el día, y para sobrellevarlo necesité un baño con agua helada y un refresco con hielo para refrescar mi calor (Yesterday was a very muggy day, so I took an ice-cold-water bath and drank a cold soda for refreshing myself).
Examples with "bochorno":
1. ¡¿Para qué me hiciste pedirle su número a la persona que me gusta?! ¡Cuando todos me oyeron pedírselo y comenzaron a reír me entró un bochorno ingente! (Why did you get me ask my crush for his phone number?! When everybody heard me aking for it and started laughing I felt like dying of embarrassment!).
2. ¡Este bochorno es insoportable! ¡Estoy sudando por todas partes! (This muggy heat is insane! Every inch of me is sweating!).
3. Los bochornos llegan desde el sur, dirección en la que se encuentra el desierto de Sonora, razón por la cual pegan tan fuerte y hace tanto calor aquí en verano (Summer muggy air currents arrive from the south, which is the direction the Sonoran desert is located in, so this is why we feel it so hard and it is so hot here in the summer).
The pronouciation of this two words can be kind of tricky (as well as the one of another words having "rn").
Some speakers pronounce the "r" in "rn" sofly, but this is more difficult than pronouncing "rn" rolling the "r" instead of pronouncing it softly (I'm a native Spanish speaker and I pronounce "rn" with rolled "r" allways).
For example:
-Ca*rn*e: /karne/ instead of /kaɾne/ (for those who don't know IPA, most of us pronounce "carrrrne" with rolled "r" instead of "carne" with soft "r").
-E*nr*rique: /enrike/ instead of /enɾike/ (we ALLWAYS pronounce "nr" with rolled "r", it was just an example that it doesn't matter if the "r" is either before or after the "n", you shall pronounce it "rrrrr" (/r/ in IPA).
The construction "quedar como" means "to end up as", "to end up being" (remember that "quedar" doesn't have an English translation).
If you have any question, I'm here to help you pleasedly!
i was just wondering : every where else tells me ¿como es que paso? is (how was it?)and on this video it’s (how did it happen?) - which one is correct ?
No está mal. Es que el español al ser hablado en tantos países similares muchas palabras no tienen el mismo contexto y depende de cual español se guíen para traducir.
Por ejemplo, en donde vivo bochorno nunca se usa para referirse a algo del clima o el calor, siempre es usado tanto como bochornoso para situaciones que te dan vergüenza.
Es lo que mismo que el ingles americano y británico que una misma cosa se dice distinto o tienen otro significado.
@@poppytaylor6205 how did it happen? (Cómo pasó eso?) Sounds better for ask explanation about something, more specific ... How was it? Traduce mas: cómo fue eso? Que tal estuvo? In general, you want to know a quick answer
@@poppytaylor6205 The questions ¿Cómo es que pasó? and ¿Cómo pasó? have both a very subtle difference, and the difference is in the verb 'ser'. The ven ser is an exclamatory particle that intensifies the tone of the question.
So:
-Mi prima se rompió una pierna y tuvo que ir al hospital (My cousin broke her leg and had to go to the hospital).
-¿Cómo es que pasó? (Can't believe something like that happened! But please tell me how it happened because I need to know now!)
-Se cayó de un árbol al intentar escalarlo (She fell out of a tree while trying to climb it).
@@poppytaylor6205 The question ¿Cómo pasó? (Also you can say "¿Cómo ocurrió?" or "¿Cómo sucedió?" and even "¿Cómo fueron las cosas?") is a question you ask when you want to be told how the things happened.
-Mi prima se rompió una pierna y tuvo que ir al hospital (My cousin broke her leg and had to go to the hospital).
-¿Cómo pasó? (¿Cómo ocurrió?, ¿Cómo sucedió?, ¿Cómo fueron las cosas?) (How it happened?)
-Pues se quiso subir al árbol pero la rama de la que estaba agarrada se rompió y termino cayéndose (Well, she tried to climb the tree but the branch she was holding on to broke and she ended up falling).
This is helpful I love the pace and the tone of actual people talking with normal emotions.
😍

Thank you sm for this❤ I'm learning Spanish from scratch because I love when people talk fast in Spanish and how it sounds good to my ears. It's a beautiful language and I wish my school or college let me take international languages.
And I practice my English with these videos, my mother tongue is Spanish, I listen what they say in Spanish and I try to say that in English and the English subtitles help me (Excuse me if I have grammar fails but I'm still learning English)

I feel like using the show Living single to learn Spanish would have a better chance of not only slang, diversity, and a slightly less formal Spanish, if that makes sense. Learning a language through a more diverse vernacular, for me, increases my progress in Spanish

Couple of things to point out here…
Sabes que is the present tense of saber=to know, so it’s equivalent in English is Do you know…
If you were to translate Did you know… then the right thing to say is Sabías que…
Oír = to hear
Escuchar = to listen
Hope this helps…
What a brilliant concept! I think I learn more Spanish during this video than I've learned in weeks of using a specific app starting with Duo ending in Lingo 😂
So much fun to watch and I like the way you broke it down into phrases and explained everything! Great!
Thanks for the kind words, Tracy! 🥰
Thank you so much! This is a great resource. The first time I listened I was completely overwhelmed but after returning to it several times, all these phrases seem natural. This is a great way to be introduced into the conversational language
Glad it was helpful! Thanks a lot and happy learning!
great resource. playing it at 0.5x speed was also helpful since I am not ready to process speaking at full speed yet

Excellent way of bringing in everyday Spanish phrases . Thank you . Good fun as well , always good to enjoy learning ☺️
Thanks for the kind words, Clive! 😊
Great piece of work! Very well detailed way to teach the Spanish learner how to listen and understand a common conversation. Something you don't get in normal language lessons. I really liked the parts where you explain for what certain expressions are used. I will follow your videos.
Thanks for your support! 🥰
Wow! This was absolutely magnificent! Thanks so much for all that hard work you put into that! I leaned Spanish years ago, but I am just on here to refresh myself and brush up on it. I have always been a Friends fan too. This was extremely brilliant, entertaining, and educational to have the complete breakdown all along the way and also special educational background info as to literal and figurative meanings between both languages as well! Please keep this exact same type of thing coming - it will be very useful and entertaining to all! (The only reason I didn't put my response in Spanish is because I don't have a Spanish keyboard on my cell phone, that I know of anyway.)
We're glad you liked it Annette! Please feel free to share our videos to your family and friends. 😉
@@FluentUSpanish Thanks again! Yes, your videos are very brilliantly and expertly done!!

The Spanish word divertido does in fact have a connection to the English verb divert. In old fashioned English if something was a fun kind of distraction from everyday life you could say that thing was "diverting".

After watching this, I was really hoping that my digital version of this series contained Spanish audio but it unfortunately doesn't. I find this much easier to understand than native spanish programming since the speed is much closer to English. What's also interesting about videos like these is how often you hear the same vocabulary over and over again. What I struggle with most at the moment is recognizing what tenses are used and the prepositions.
Happens to all of us! You are on a good path, keep on going! 💙

Omg, I absolutely LOVE this! It's been bugging me for a while now that there are no Spanish channels on TV that have English subtitles, because if there were, many English only speaking Americans would have a more natural, almost mindless opportunity to learn. Just watch it before bed every night, and you WILL absorb SOMETHING. Children's shows especially, so any parent that chose to have their child watch, even just for half an hour a day, 5 days a week, would give their child a nice headstart. I honestly don't know why it hasn't occurred to me to come to UA-cam for this. I will be an avid watcher of your channel from now on. Thank you so much!
Please keep making videos like this!
I do wish that the laugh track was more quiet, as it sometimes is louder than the dialogue. I realize that this is out of the creator's control. I never noticed how loud the laugh tracks were until now. Often when we're watching TV, we barely even notice the laugh tracks at all.
You're welcome! 🥰
