Who ever at Rolling Stone Magazine thinks that Mary J. Blige is a better singer than chaka Khan needs to get fired
The objective is to undermine Black/African American culture introducing lower standards hence.
Sultry, Sexy, Groovy, Amazing Voice! Pure Talent! There is only ONE CKAKA KHAN!💜
I'll never get tired of this song, brings back beautiful memories
Wow she wrote that song.. People are really sleeping on Chaka
As a little boy in the seventies, she and Gladys knight made me fall madly in love with black women.
She absolutely mesmerizing on that stage. Almost hypnotic. And her voice is like that of an angel. It can be powerful and commanding and then it can be soft and gentle.
Chaka Khan can "SANG". She reached those octave ranges like no other. I have always said that Chaka Khan was/is probably the best singer from the ol' school. And trust me, we had some baadd Black female singers. (i.e.) Aretha, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Natalie Cole, and later Whitney Houston; to name a few. Plus Chaka Khan was sexy and the men used to go crazy over her.
Flawless beauty that excudes from the inside out, and her voice.. her natural hair, the way she feels the music with her dance.. This is the real music.
One of my fave songs of all time. Still as good as it was decades ago. Classic
She was so magical with Rufus!
Gorgeous voice, gorgeous face, gorgeous body, and I'm a woman and I think she's one of the sexiest singers ever.
Damn Chaka's Body was BANGIN!
This song was on the charts when I was 13. I'm 49 now; where has the time gone? I can remember going to Maui and standing on the lava rocks, watching the water crash on those rocks, through my toes, and hearing this song in my head. I looked at the island of Molokai across the water. What memories! Thank you, Chaka Khan.
I'm 66 in 2023. Grooved to soul since 1969. The bands I was in wanted to play such things as "Smoke on the Water", "Sister Golden Hair", "Frankenstein", and Jerry Lewis tunes. Later jazz with a funk twist even with tunes going back to the 1930's. I want to dance if I'm not playing. Chaka A+++.
Chaka Khan was then and is still one of the best singers of our time - like it or not! Some one commented on whether or not she was lip syncing - she was and the reason for not seeing background singers live or taped, is because Chaka did her own background singing, thats why she was then and is now one of the best singers of our time, everybody cannot sing both the lead & background
believe me, I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!
Back when melodies were catchy and talent was HUGE......Such A Sweet Thang!
Dem dudes from Rufus were sick with the musical arrangements & the writing!! We all know Chaka is one of the greatest that ever did it!! These artists of today don't know how to sing with passion & delivery!!
There have been so many great female singers who sang the heck out of a slow jam. The Late Great Aretha Pattie Gladys Natalie Denice Williams Mary J Stephanie Mills The Late Great Whitney Houston The Boss Beyoncé and the list goes on with greatness. I think after all these years Chaka still got the crown for Sweet Thing
Agreed. I think it's because this is what we used to call a "bump and grind" song. Not too many female singers had those that were big hits. Maybe Betty Wright with "Tonight Is the Night" or Jocelyn Edwards of Mothers Finest with "Changes", Teena Marie's "Portuguese Love" come to mind and one or two others. Of course, none of the others had a killer Funk unit like Rufus. I suspect that last part is the key.
I saw Rufus and Chaka Khan in the 70's and she set the place on fire! The men in the audience were going crazy because she was so beautiful and sexy.
Now this is what I call SOUL music, because it truly touches and inspires my soul.
Love chaka...
Yeah man!, Chaka has and will always be one of the greatest singers of all time!!!! This is my favorite of her songs.....go Chaka!!!!! Sexy!!
Chaka is a Goddess!!!
Seriously one of the most perfect, beautiful songs ever
Black is still beautiful in 2024✊🏿
Man the energy she showed gives me energy just watching her. She was a natural beauty in every sense of the meaning.
I met her once, at the funeral of a mutual friend. Shes truly like 4 feet tall!! Amazing how that big wonderful voice can come from such a tiny package!
@@UnderHisHand That’s a lie! Chaka is 5’0 tall! I’ve taken pics with her and I’m 5’4….and she was wearing heels and I was still taller than her! Stop believing Wikipedia
@@dametaylortyler4975 Yeah, you're right about wiki..They get it twisted. I'll stop believing 'em. Also, I'll thumbs up your comment since you did 😄 be blessed!
The epitome of talent, sexiness, class, beauty!!! I miss musical talents like this!
Here it is 2022, Her music is still Certified Gold 🎶
Hit #1 soul, #5 pop in Billboard. God bless!
She was the best of the best! The 70;s were great
I remember playing this song over and over before it became a hit song
We are blessed to still have Chaka present well&thriving and still wailing those notes into the strasphere!!
She looked good.
The lovely, the incomparable, Chaka Khan and her band Rufus. This song never gets old. a timeless classic from the 70's.
Takes be back to my childhood, lower ninth ward of new orleans. My dad would block the street off and we would have a block party. Dancing and having a good time to this song and music like it...
No homo but chaka body is banging plus her voice. This is the true definition of a singer, you can tell there was no struggle in her voice she's a natural born singer.
If I knew those days would never come again. I would have cherished them more.
This is my song that I personally can listen to ALLLLLLLLL Day & Never get tired of. Shout out to my gurl Chaka
🔥 *EVERYone* who contributed to this song performed on an incomparable level! 👏🏽 That’s what makes this a bona fide classic. The _entire_ band made magic.

Chaka khan would appear in Jet Magazine on occasions during my boyhood. My Brother and I would fight over who would get to view the photos first. I have literally been listening to this woman's voice for over 40 years.
I sooo miss the music of yesterday. Damn, Can we get it back? When real music was talking about something. So, glad I grew up on this music. I remember cleaning up the house on a Saturday and bumping Rufus and Chaka. Good Ol Days! LOL
Three words...Beau-ti-ful.
Yes you can understand what they were singing about years ago today I'm not too sure!
Rufus and Chaka,..some good ole' throwback in the day, she was bad then and still bad
now, you go girl!!
It’s just so amazing cause this voice just does not match her body & she sings this song with little to no effort. Love the fact that she’s literally in her element & feeling every note in her bones 🤤
I think that it helps that Chaka wrote Sweet Thing alongside her band mate Tony Maiden.
Sexy-ass song. Even now. These young ones need to know what soul, sexy, love is.
I blasted this tune at my folks place when I was 10, and still do 50 years later. Miss Khan, the Empess of FUNK kickin it and diggin it. Thanks, eh ✌️🎗️⚓
What a Body! to go with that Voice!!!!!
Lover her pipes & her range! Maybe it's b/c I'm Gen X, but I've not found any female lead who comes close to her.
It doesn’t get better than chaika
I am thankful I grew up when I did. It was as good as it got.
I was so in love with her. She has that look that you could never forget. She was the group and needed to get away from them. 😊
She was perfect as a woman can be here physically and vocally

She was fiiiiiine!!!
I remember seeing on soul train when it came out, me and sisters and brothers watch this I was the young at ten years old.
Good times!
Trust me when I say some people who were kids when this song came out say the same thing; they would be in their late 30's early 40's now. Personally I like the both of them I was either 8/9 when this came out depending on what month it hit the airwaves.
yes Chaka you are a sweet thing with a sweet voice, you belt it out like no one else
Chaka is still doing the same side today 😂2023 & she still sounds the same! Now that’s Legendary!🔥🔥
2020 and beyond
Chaka Khan you still rule
Effortless!!!

I bet Chaka had to beat the guys off her. She was gorgeous. Still a mature beautiful woman. Women's beauty changes over the years with wisdom. That girl had some hair too. She and Selena could have sold some bustiers!🤣🤣
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 crazy crush as a child. Like a lil ass kid. I knew this was not a regular woman. And to this day, l go after women who have her aesthetic features.
Man man man,... ik was 15 toen i het voor het eerst hoorde... nog steeds geweldig
Classic music being sung by a classis entertainer. Chake is still doing her thing today. The best will always last forever. Good music & good talent. This performance looks like it was going on quite well!!!!
I was so in luv wit here back then. I cried cause my pops wouldn't let me go to her concert in the 70's, I was a kid wit a mad crush in GA.
