Over here in Scotland you need a personal licence to manage a bar but not to bartend under a manager, personal licenses require extensive knowledge of the laws surrounding the serving alcohol in order to obtain.
I have 18 credits from Hospitality-Bar Management Professional technical certificate from a Community College. I am an immigrant, my English is never being great, my accent is very heavy and my charm personality doesn't helped me to pass the several interviews that I failed. But I love the industry, I love bars and the money I can do in this touristic city that I live...Since I have this certification in my resume' the Bar Managers look at me different, basically any place that I apply now they hire me...
I've applied for bartender several times and they put me on host instead bc I have no prior bartending training but I can't get training since no one will let me bartend
Honestly that's disrespectful lol they made you accept a host position hahaha. Yeah you need experience though, even servers won't get hired without experience unless they're really desperate

As it turns out other than getting clients in the hospitality industry , I'm and Internet Marketer turns out i'll be soon working with a guy starting a Hostel and I'll want to be in touch with you regarding the Hotel/Restaurant system.
Hi Dave, great info. How about liability insurance for a mobile bartender? Some venues ask for it. It is kind of confusing. Do you need host liquor liability or liquor liability insurance?
This is a great question and one that is going to vary by state so it's difficult to answer. In CA in order to do any liquor catering at all, you have to be attached to a brick and mortar bar with a liquor license. I'll be honest, I'm not caught up with the liability laws outside of my own state. If I come across it, I'll let you know.
Ok, so if I go to SafeServ and get certified there, do I still need to go to a bartending school afterwards or with that certification I can just go start applying at restaurants and bars? Thank you ☺️
