My father would finish my model cars when it got to hard for me before he went to work in the morning. Thank you for posting this video, he never said " I love you" but he showed it in so many other ways.
Just got a deal on 3 of these kits for cheap. Can't wait to build one!! The other two will be added to the stash for future builds or trading material. Fantastic build as always. I need to go to your oldest builds and watch others like this one!!
I like the detailed narration. There are other guys out there who build in different ways with unlimited aftermarket parts and exotic paints and techniques. However your the hero of the working class builder and I really like the talking more than some other music videos outhere
I'm with Matt P on this one. Not only do I enjoy your videos, they have in fact inspired me to step away briefly from my fishing rod and start modeling cars again. -Thanks!
Thanks a lot Larry, glad to hear you'll start up the hobby again. Always remember to have fun! PS, I like me some fishing too, have myself a nice Alumacraft Deep V and two fishing kayaks.
Looks like a great kit. I started building models in the early mid 60's and remember paying US$0.99 to US$1.50 for these 1/25 scale cars. That's the normal retail price, not a sale price. Ah, how times change. Thanks for the review of this kit.
I just want take the time and say thank you for giving me more creative ideas on my model cars, Yes I'm hand brush painter and I did that stuff over 21 years now, The more I learn the greater I will be , I love the channel, Keep up the great work
Thanks for watching Tim! Enjoy your models and build them YOUR way, don't let others tell you that you can't have fun with your hobby the way you want to.
I can hear it now ----> Sunday... Sunday... SUNDAY ... Yes race fans Dyno Don Nicholson takes on Bill Grumpy Jenkins in best of 3 match race...... gates open at 8 racing starts at noon, be there ! Those old radio spots.... they would get me so fired up 🎙😎 Can't get enough of these old drag kits... get some more into the stagging lanes & thank you for all the great memories ✌😎
I've been using your black or white base coat tip then misting the colors for " pre defined" finishes. I've also gotten silver pencils and acrylic color pens. No camera tricks involved in your videos - WOW it all works! Oh, I layed down a thick layer of white glue on a smooth floor board that needed carpeting. Just as the glue started to skim over I stippled with a stiff brush. After paint - 1/25 scale carpet. Thanks again for sharing...
Seeing the part trees and then seeing how they go together is one of the things I like about your channel. Of course, your personality is the big reason. I heard your statement about "back seat delete" option and it reminded me of little known packages for both GM and Ford. As you know, cars are sold with codes for the packages. Well, there was no internet in '90, when I graduated HS. Knowing the codes was difficult. Both manufacturers had radio delete options. This also removed A/C compressor, all power functions, and, in the case of the Pontiac T/A, black side moldings. The Mustang was only available as a coupe. There were some other things the option pkg changed, don't remember. But what it gave the buyer was a factory built, street legal, acceleration monster!
I can see Dyno Don & Grumpy getting ready to stage & then waiting for the Christmas tree @ home track... New England Dragway in N.H ! It was a big track in the late 70's , had some down years but is now back and bigger than ever with a multi- million dollar upgrade & is now hosting huge NHRA National Events ! ✌😎 Dragracing builds are the best.... especially the old A/FX cars 😉 Keep building.... great channel ! ☺
Great buildup and description as always. Especially appreciate you showing the paint process, even though that takes up a lot of editing time. Worth it!
Hey there I really enjoy your instructions and helpful hints. Once I get my basement remodeled I am going to set up a nice big work bench so I can get caught up on my kits.
I was lucky enough...to see...(and touch!..LOL..) that real car..and Nicholson's earlier ones...RACE!.. Along with Sox, Beswick, and all the other 'names' of that day... What a time it was!!...Great looking model you built!...
Beautiful job on that Mercury Cyclone. I used to make plastic model kit cars in the past.... when I was a lot younger. A lot of mine were trashed. I got a boxed 6 Corvette Stingray (black rat) custom, by monogram. Got me thinking l might start making some new kits 👍
I remember Dyno Don, saw him run at Vargo. It was Chevy against Ford against Mopar. Them were the days when all you needed was a set of headers, a pair of M&H's, a shifter, a tune on the carb and ignition timing and you were ready to run. You could be competitive for under $500 with the right car.😀 Cheezus it was a great era for drag racing and the 'Swamp Rat'. Thanx for this. 👍👍
i like doing a lot of details to my models as well plug wires fuel lines brake lines i cut the doors and trunks open on mine build my hinges out of paper clips and tubbing
I missed out on any scratch and dent savings, looks like there all gone😕 Guess I will have to open my pre ordered box! Shout out to Model Roundup keep scratching those boxes and saving us some cash! Great build as always
Thank you. Nice build. I may have to get one. Had a friend that had a Cyclone (390) and he did drop in a 427 medium-riser, but left the rear tires alone. So had very little traction.
Step 1. Watch your Videos, Step 2. Buy this kit, Step 3. Follow you tips! Step 4. Enjoy the build! Step 5. Master the complicated process of applying Future to the finished build! Step 5. Suggestion: Future can be used to glue in the clear glass if you 'age ' it. Step 6. Reply to your video with a thumbs up! Step 7. My favourite part: applying the glass from outside the model, BRILLIANT!!! Too bad it took until Moebius to figure this out! Love the Videos.
I know it sounds weird but I typically only sub to people I'd like to hang out with!! U are awesome and do a fantastic job..you aren't an "ultra" detailer, which is great also.
WOW! another awesome build! You make your technique look simple but the results are mind blowing. I love these classic AFX cars. I am definitely getting one. In the body paint demo you typed in apple red but forgot to type in your trade mark "woo yummy" lol thanks bro awesome channel.
Vewy, vewy nice kit and build. And thank you for little tips like how to install the headers. I wish we had Future here in Egypt.. it would make life so much easier :)
Much appreciated Hisham! I think there are alternatives by other names, like Klear and what not. May take a bit of searching the internet to see what it's called over there if it's for sale.
@@hpiguy thank you for explaining how you do future. I always have problems with it! Everybody in my club told me to airbrush it. One question does it take out imperfections?
Pretty nice kit. Superb building as always. Reminds me of my uncle's 67 Caliente. Almost bought that car, but I was not even 18 yet and my folks discouraged me from buying it as there was work to do on it. Last I heard of that car, the guy who bought it from my uncle, took the 289 out of it and put it in a Mustang, then scrapped the car. That said, it's the first time I think I hear, if not anger, a slight annoyance in your voice about a "really hard" to do technique and a liberate use of sarcasm. I thought you were the Bob Ross of modeling. But now, I'm not too sure. lol
I had the original Kit back in 1965 sorry I never saved it today that Kit is worth some serious money. Nice color but for me you get a better result with Duplicolor paints and Primers.
Cutting edge kit reviews. Hot off the truck. Followed by masterful work showcasing a fabulous looking model. Pleasant to watch with interest. Thanks It would go good with a drag strip scene with Grandpa's Dragula. Same era.
Great build/review and great looking model. Looks like if you toss glue and paint in the box and shake it’ll fall together. lol. Thanks for another kit to put on the Christmas list....😆
thanks for the Model Round-up tip. I'll keep my eyes open. And I did two cars, one with the wet-dry and 5 coats and the other with your gloss, clear, and Future. Yours is as good even with a more studied inspection. Who needs 1500 grit sand paper?
The only problem I had with my Arnie Beswick Kit was the back glass didn't fit right! I tried to carefully sand it around the edges but it cracked right down the middle! I had to order the Dyno Don kit to get the back glass !
I use the Aleene's clear glue. It is thick and dries clear. I was using Canopy glue which I do like as well but the Aleene's is quite a bit cheaper and I like the thickness of the glue.
