I had the pleasure of meeting Mr KW at SEMA 2022. Thats Klaus Whulfarth (spelling might be off) to the uninitiated. What an incredible man. I felt a bit intimidated to be talking with a legend but im sold. Going to be buying a V3 set here for my Evo pretty soon.
6. KW also own AP brand which also make coilovers as well as sport suspensions systems, which are probably the cheapest yet still performing suspension parts (and to be honest AP are one of the most comfort coilovers out there). They also own ST brand, where you can get the same product as KW, except that those will be made from galvanized steel instead of stainless steel (and AP are made from galvanized steel as well).
Can you make a video comparing the different versions of KW suspensions but more in depth? For example, the V3 has more adjustability over other version like rebound control. I was hoping for someone to explain in a video why "x" feature is useful, how each version differs design wise (accessible adjustment vs non-accessible, DDC vs V3 etc...) and why one would command certain $'s over another version. I was told by a local dealer ST suspensions are basically KW without dampening adjustments. I love this channel, hopefully you can clarify in a video!
I got told they are the same from same factory only materials and warranty is diffrent: KW = lifetime warranty to the original customer, meterials = inox. ST = 5 years on coilovers, and galvanised steel.
Actually ordered my set of ST XA coilovers through KW last weekend, since my car is older they are made to order I got messaged by them, thats what I call hands on approach to the customer.
I had an LSD Door Kit on my 350Z. I remember the body shop I took the kit to for installation breathe a sigh of relief when they found out it was an LSD kit as opposed to the cheaper kits available. Top quality all the way.
Let's not forget the price point! Quite a bit more expensive than other counterpart brands! Also a very very big factor, these coilovers are stainless steel. Not powdercoated, galvanized, painted coilovers, these are true stainless steel what will not corrode from salt and water
Can you do an episode on Aldan American Suspension? Looking at getting a set of coil overs for my C6 Corvette. Just want to know more about them. Great channel. Keep up the great work!
I have KW v3's on my G. KW v3's ride better than OEM for daily driving. It is hard to find a coilover that gives you both comfort and performance. KW v3's being able to adjust compression and rebound make this possible. Compared to an $800 coilover the ride quality is drastically better with KW v3's.
I'm having a set installed on my BRZ right now actually. The V1 is comparable to the V3 without the dampening and rebound adjustments. You use KW's chosen settings and all you get height adjustment. A great set and forget setup.
Can we talk about their Active DDC suspension kits? Ive always wanted to know if they were actually any good compared to some of the active suspensions from OEMs and how they compare to typical non-active type suspensions and what their use cases are.
Separately adjustable rebound and compression damping does not necessarily give any advantage for street driving. Even for track drivers a lot of enthusiasts seem to be entirely clueless about setup and tuning of 2-way adjustable damping. In some cases more adjustability only allows people to make their setup worse. If you are not very serious about tracking your car, I suggest to save a lot of hassle and go with one of the simpler products such as KW V1 or V2.
Well thats a fals statement 😂😂 if you are a cock up then yess but then it boils down to human falts.. The V2 is actually a very good street and track setup dont get me WRONG but the V3/clubsport is beyond if you do your lesson.. Also note: it's okei to fail 100 times before you get it right but when you do ohhh lord it's sexy 😂 So you should rewrite your orgi. Statement to: you can easliy choose a simpler version of kw suspension V1V2 are easier for amature and they still pack a punch..
Say what you will but I miss the days of Neon light civics with those doors, big rims, flashy paint and vinyl. It was a whole nother era and I miss it.
Question. I had KW 3's installed in my 06 BMW 530Xit wagon.. I noticed on some big dips at highway speed I got a slight bang in the rear.. are the shocks tuned a little too soft? I did ask for the car to be lowered but try to keep the most comfortable ride as possible.. Thanks! Joe
you forgot about the KW "Street Comfort" line as well as the KW "Clubsport" line with 2 & 3-way adjustable damping. Oh and the V2 has adjustable rebound and V3's have both rebound and compression. That's is all...
I'm thinking of getting either a set of KW V-3s or the HKS Hypermax Rs for my 370Z sport coupe 6MT after I've finally taken off all the weight that I plan on removing and then have the car corner balanced with the coilovers in place.
@@guillermohuereca3269 I haven't gotten them yet but plan to as the last step in my suspension modification program. I've replaced the forged aluminum wheels with forged magnesium ones and in a month or so I'm going to replace the stock one-piece iron brake rotors with two-piece aluminum hat ones. I also have some more sprung weight to remove. After all the weight is off, I may have to go with different spring rates to get the correct ride height. The shop I go to specializes in high-performance modifications for Z cars, The Z Car Garage in San Jose, CA. The owner, Rob Fuller, strongly recommends the KW V3s. I like them too, especially because of the two-way independent compression and rebound damping. I'm looking to see if I can find a three-way design that will offer high and low speed damping adjustment on the compression stroke. Unfortunately, KW's V4 and V5 lines are not listed as usable on my car.
if i want good suspension i am putting kw on that car. i NEVER had issues with KW they do not rust they ride great performance is good and there is proper development behind the product which is questionable with other brands like bc racing etc. and a V1 is not even more expensive than bc racing.
Never in my 12 years of being a german car mechanic have I ever had an issure with their collars...especially for the guys up north they kick ass and never seize. Just make sure never to use anything but the factory correct spanner wrench
Can you guys show us all of your personal cars and builds? That would be dope.
Also that Datsun with the widebody is killer.
Absolutely!
I’ve been back and forth on getting Bilsteins, BCs, or KW coilovers for my GTI.
Might jump on the KWs now
Which are better bilsteins or kw?

KW is expensive but the quality is out of this world!
I have never been super into fitment especially wheels but man your channel makes it super interesting.
Thank you!!!!

most coilovers have rebound adjustment. its the compression adjustment thats "extra"

Absolutely man! We'll reach out to KW and see if they will send us a few kits!

I love my KW Clubsport 3 ways for my BRZ, best coils I’ve ever owned... just FYI the latest gen Dodge ACR Viper uses Bilstein MDS dampers not KW
think if you keep this level of content you will have over 100,000 by at least the end of the year
That's the goal!
Great videos. You guys really do some homework putting these together. Great info!
Props to Alex! He does all the research!

Or do you need V3 or Even V2??
Make a video about truhart suspension
Can we talk about their Active DDC suspension kits? Ive always wanted to know if they were actually any good compared to some of the active suspensions from OEMs and how they compare to typical non-active type suspensions and what their use cases are.
Help a lot for my project. Thank youuu
Would love one of these for BC Racing and 326 Power coils!

“Or… if you just have a lot of money.” 😂😂😂

Why didn't Alex start this video by walking through the door too?
We have to switch it up every now and than ;)
Number 6. KW coil over is super easy to leak. 3 set of their coil over and adios. No more for me.
Sounds like whoever installed them used a pneumatic impact to tighten the shaft nut...the speed at which they spin causes damaged seals.
thank god that music is gone
Gecko Racing
Advan!!!...(angry)
Damn that boy is cute. :-)
kw and their lame thermoplastic rings.......big no no
