The necklace at 1:52, the rose bagatelle ring after, the simple pearls with CD in them, the ring at 6:49 right before the silk collection, the pink sapphire ribbon earrings...ok I must stop, sigh. So beautiful, well, hardly a strong enough word. I wish this robot could pronounce English wrods properly but this is a visual feast for my eyes and my spirit. Thank you Andrew as always!! I was always told that Christian Dior's favourite flower was the lily-of-the-valley (I believe it is mourget en française). In fact, his casket was draped and covered in lily-of-the-valley. Also, six of his favourite models (mannequin) walked behind, all clad in stunning black suits. A lot of his signature perfumes feature those mourget notes. I don't doubt that he loved the rose - but stating that it was his favourite causes me to write this missive.

Dior was a young designer pre WWII, but it was post WWII that pushed him to the forefront of clothing designers. Even though the war was over, rationing wasn't. Dior pushed the limits of design by creating a new silhouette for the wealthy post war woman, emphasis on the waist. He dressed Royals and the political elite. This gave him the money and the clientele to develop high end jewelry. He wasn't afraid to go to Germany to find the best craftsmen after the war either, even though Germany nearly ruined the French economy. Dior was a true globalist and he knew that his designs transcended any race, religion or political leanings.
