As a local and just starting watching this episode watching you kayak into that water that and I'm a local..that's pure bravery lol. We are taught from childhood about the dangers of the snakes 100%..and every single one of us have had a danger noodle moments many times growing up

You certainly have a very unique way of visiting cemeteries and I really enjoy it. I hope you're planning to continue uploading videos. I see it's been a while since you have.

The territories you show in your videos are really lovely. I visit some of the old cemeteries in and around my city. The history you can find is most interesting.

We pulled up to a bulkhead camp site at the state park. A guy came over to warn us about the water moccasin threat in the lake and how they drop into your boats. We kayak. I thanked him for the warning. When I added that we haven't had any problems with snakes in the Okefenokee or Everglade swamps before, but we'd keep a look out. He grunted and walked away. I don't remember seeing any snakes over the next three days there.

Thank you! Beautiful part of the country. I'm planning to return in January to see the American Bald Eagles which spend winter months hunting on the lake.

Beautiful share, delicious footage. I wouldn't recommend a kiak in Spring when the Water Moccasin is in mating season. They literally are highly active and can be aggressive, as they are confident and well equipped with toxic venom.
Long Sleeve Shirt, light weight cotton materials, and a total coverage, a thin cotton Hajib fir my face, are my protection attire, and Vick's Salve is my repellent choice for the insects.

I really love this channel. Your videos have been really insightful for my genealogy research in middle Tennessee. I am trying to find my great grandfather's grave in Franklin County, TN. But my research online + in the county library has come up empty. I understand gravesites can just get lost over time. But his father and grandfather (who were important town figures) have no known gravesites either. Would you have any insights for me? Is it a lost cause? I'm hoping there are other research resources that just aren't on my radar yet. In any case, thank you for sharing these videos with us!

I'm a geophysicist. And one of the first things we learn is about the new Madrid earthquake. So this video really caught my eye. Great information. We do cemetery wandering and historical videos ourselves.

I've lived near Reelfoot most of my live. Only when rutting (mating), in late spring, is when you see snakes acting aggressively like chasing boats or falling out of trees. I don't advise perusing the snakes at that time of year

Reelfoot Lake is an overwintering habitat for thousands of migratory birds. I'm planning on making another visit this winter.

@@TheCemeteryDetective It's a beautiful and interesting area. I'm sure a follow-up visit would be most interesting. There were certainly a lot of local Reelfoot Lake organizations who had vids on my feed when I watched yours.
