  • This is a compilation of images that attempt to recreate the experience of being at the Avalon Ballroom in 1966. The song is "Cold Rain and Snow" by The Grateful Dead" recorded at the Avalon Ballroom in 1966. The footage consists of exerts from the movie "The Trips Festival", a happening from the same time. The last portion of the video consists of hand painted slides created by the artist Bruce Conner and were projected on screens while the bands would play. I presented them with modern day transition effects to simulate what Conner may have done with the technology at hand today.

The Trips Festival footage here was shot by C.B.C. Television in Vancouver and is of the July 29, 30 & 31/1966 B.C. Trips Festival in Vancouver. Where the Dead did play. Their first shows outside of California.
