- When Bavaria’s ruling family died out in 1777, the country was inherited by the Elector Palatine, a member of the same dynasty, but from a different branch. In this way, the Palatinate and Bavaria were united under the same ruler for the first time in over 400 years - but there was a problem. The Elector Palatine, Charles Theodore, wasn’t interested in Bavaria, and would soon agree to give away nearly half the country to the neighbouring Habsburgs.

Keep making these, they're great.
One of the best history channels out there. Keep creating my friend
“We’ll never have to worry about the Illuminati again.” -Some Bavarian guy in the 1700’s
And they were right!
very interesting, i never heard of him but he had a very fascinating and unique life
Funfact in munich is a square named after him but the people don't call it Karlsplatz, they called it Stachus
Fun fact, the Mannheimer Schloss today hosts parts of the University of Mannheim including three branches of the University library, several lecture halls and classrooms, a bistro and many offices of university professors and the rectorat. During the spring and summertime during the lecture period every thursday there are parties thrown by different student associations in the castles small courtyard. Once a year the big courtyard along the entire building is opened for the opening party of the academic year. It's a really cool place to study and highly reputable for Business studies and Economics.
The first man to fight the Illuminati, we should make a movie about him on the same tone of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
These videos are amazing!
This channel deserves far more subscribers. It's one of the best out there.
Great video. Your channel is so underrated.
Your content is amazing. Thank you!
I like these videos of unknown kings
I have never even heard of this fellow, but his story is fascinating.
Thanks for the video!
As a resident of MA, I was surprised when I was in Munich to see a statue of Benjamin Thompson showing "Geboren zu Woburn in Massachusetts." Your videos are quite informative.
Man, we love your content!
Keep it up!
As always, amazing quality of narration!
Kings: check. Things: check. Liked and subbed.
Fantastic videos, I live near one of the palaces mentioned and its great to hear about the man who lived there.
Very interesting and informative. Thank you!
You made a video in my favorite timeperiod. And covered the topic superbly. Thank you
Probably the best history channel I've found, the content is superb & well made.
I don’t understand how you don’t have more subs these are great videos keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed your narrating style, and you made an obscure historical subject shine. Cheers from New Zealand!
I really love your videos. One thing: I find it a bit hard to understand where the borders are drawn on the map you are using. I can't really make out the cities, or what rivers these are. But otherwise your videos are great!
I second this. Better maps will definitely improve the channel.
Short sweet and simple. I've watched and loved every single one of your videos. I hope you di an entire series on the holy roman empire it is very interesting.
Hand down one of the most fantastic channel. You can get loads of new things you can add to the strange time travel fantasy game thing we do in our heads.
Thank you for that!
underrated channel
Wait, what about the Bavarian annexation of the eastern part of the Palatinate during the 30 years war? How does it fit in the story?
Oh, right, I should have included that in the map! From what I know it was part of the lands given to Rudolph's sons, and remained a part of the Electoral Palatinate until Maximilian I conquered them in the 1600s. It wasn't until 1777 that the entirety of the Electoral Palatinate was reunited with Bavaria, though.
You two are such nerds. I approve.
Yay the series is back
Hope you do videos on the other Electors of the HRE as well
Excellent,
Always fascinating
Love the video, keep em up! How did you draw the borders on the maps though?
Can't wait for you to talk about Maximillian I Joseph!
Beautifully read, factually fascinating.
I am loving this series on Bavarian kings you are doing, I would be very interested to see a video on Louis Ferdinand Prince of Prussia. I think he is a very interested and neglected figure in Prussian history, he took after his uncle Fredrick the Great quite a bit but was taken too early after his death at Battle of Saalfeld.
Please make a similar series on the Wettins of Saxony.
For a king who was unwilling and unwanted, he doesn't sound too bad!
Quality videos - why the interest in Bavaria?
Hey do you have Discord??
12:44 that part
Order of the Golden Fleece video?
Joe could have tried beefing up Ostend and the rest of the Austrian low countries.
This man really just ends his videos
SHEESH
hes a W for disbanding illuminati and freemasons.
I recommend slowding down and trying to speak more clearly. I have to turn the volume up far too loud just to be able to understand what you are saying. You are speaking so fast, you are mumbling/slurring your words, which might be fine in some languages but not in english.
do you have any degree in history?
