It really makes us sad when the heroes from our youth pass away. Those who have just started following NASCAR in the last 10 or 20 years don't realize who the true greats really are that made NASCAR. At least NASCAR is making some effort in the last year or two to remember the people that made it great. Rest in peace Cale.

I think the same thing when a racer , actor , athlete or , musician dies and i think to myself , I guess it just means we're getting older , I don't much like change , I like the old music , tv shows and race car races and drivers way more than the present stuff.

I went to every Daytona 500 & 400 from 1988 until Dale E. died I lost my desire for NASCAR but 1 year I had made it to the garage area when I saw Cale walking I ran after him asking him for a picture he said sure son, man that made my NASCAR experience complete. I met his sister at a feed store and we talked every time I saw her about how he was Cale Y. was a MAN a real man who will be missed by all who saw him race or had the pleasure to meet him. This was a great pod cast thank you all for sharing 👍

Was so glad to have followed Cales career....was at Darlington in 65 when he went out of the track....was at the 68 Southern 500...Cale said was his all time favorite win....also he made a comment about his daddy who passed when Cale was young...he said he told him...Son always be yourself...if people dont like how you are now...they not going to like the person you try to be....and he lived that....also he looked after his mother..who only passed a few years ago....Great show..

One of the greatest stockcar racers of all time. As a kid growing up and watching nascar, i can still remember cale Yarbrough name, buddy baker,Richard petty, davey Allison, benny parson, junior Johnson, though names stuck out to me to this day. That was when nascar was great and fun to watch.

Toughest driver on the track. Won 3 straight Winston Cups 76-78. I think they finished every race for about 2-2-1/2 years. Junior was changing transmissions, engines, everything. Sometimes in 30 minutes. Back out on the track when it was legal.

I was fortunate enough to meet Cale back in the mid 90's @ Portland Speedway. I walked up to him and pulled out 1979 original photo of him that my friends @ Racing Wheels Newspaper gave me. He said " Holy shit son! Where'd you come up with that photo?" I sat and shot the shit with him for a few minutes. As a true fan of NASCAR and it's legends, it was a absolute honor getting to meet Cale in person! He was there to run as a special quest in a late model stock car for Winners Edge tobaccoless chew, who also sponsored one of local late model drivers.

Thanks Rick & Steve. Ive listened to every episode you guy's have done. I look forward to Wednesday's. Sometimes i binge listen white im at work in the dozer or loader. I have been hoping/praying that Rick could have talked Cale into doing an interview. As i understand, Cale wouldn't do it for free. So i don't blame Rick. And no, it doesn't change the way i feel about Cale Yarbrough. Massive respect!
I like the story about Jr & Cale crashing the olabe during landing, hitting a parked dozer & jr jumped out way before the plane hit. Awesome story

It was great to hear the stories, Ronnie Bouchard, David Ifft and my Dad were part of the Race Hill Farms team. I remember the open hotel doors and room cruising was what the crews did. I remember Steve Hmiel and Kyle came running in the hotel room. Kyle began jumping on my Mom and Dad's hotel bed. Steve was teaching my one year old how to cut the room light off and on. Dad knew Cale pretty good I think.
