Relive the greatest and most important moments in stock-car racing history. Sharing moments from The Scene Vault Podcast
Jimmie Johnson's HUGE NASCAR Break
Tony Liberati was there as future NASCAR Hall of Famer Jimmie Johnson made his first tentative steps into big-time automobile racing.
It turned out to be the perfect combination of rookie team owners, a rookie driver, a rookie crew chief and a hand-picked team. It was with Herzog Motorsports that Johnson won his first NASCAR event, just months before moving to the Winston Cup level ... and untold fame and fortune ... with the legendary Hendrick Motorsports.

What Caused Michael Waltrip's VICIOUS Bristol Crash?
Переглядів 6 тис.7 годин тому
The images of Micahel Waltrip's infamous crash during an April 1990 Busch Series race at Bristol are hard to forget. Surely, Michael was seriously injured in the mishap ... or worse. That he survived and continued to race as if nothing had ever happened is one of the great miracles in NASCAR history. But what caused the crash? Robert Pressley shared HIS side of the story for the first time with...

Disappointment, Botched Pit Stop Led to 1991 Roush Racing Implosion
Переглядів 8 тис.14 днів тому
Roush Racing went into the 1991 NASCAR Winston Cup season trying to shake the disappointment of its controversial loss in the previous season's championship battle. Dale Earnhardt captured his fifth title in 1990, while the Roush organization would have to wait another twelve years for its first. As bad as that shock must've been for Jack Roush, Mark Martin, crew chief Robin Pemberton and team ...

300 Years of Mountain Moonshine History
Was always a big Robert Presley fan. Two of my favorite die casts i have are his 33 Skoal Car and 77 Jasper Engines Cars
It would be HARD to not like Robert Pressley. He has always been one of the good guys.
This dude seems arrogant as fuck
I thought Michael brought the farm that day. Brother Darrell was scared and frightened that his brother was thought to be gone.
Lost me at nitrous only cools the fuel. What a crock.
Along with every other team in cup series
Ward is a good country boy and damn good dude
If you follow him on any of his social-media accounts, he is ALWAYS working outdoors. He is one tough son of a gun.
They all used it back in the day.
Herb fishel made this happen. With gm $$.
He looks so much like Scotty from Star Trek now.
Live long and prosper by racing hard!
Great show so glad to hear from Rambo 1) Pearson 2) Petty 3)Earnhardt 4) Johnson 5) Bobby Allison
I’d have to go with Richard, David, Dale, Jeff and then pick ‘em.
@TheSceneVault it's hard to pick a top 5. I hate to leave out Cale and a few others
@israelmathes6268 That’s why we’ll never attempt to name a best driver ever on the show, because it basically ends up being a FAVORITE driver ever. How could anybody today other than Richard Petty speak to the excellence of Red Byron, Herb Thomas or the Flock brothers?
@@TheSceneVault I agree. Thanks so much for the interaction
No problem. Thank YOU for watching!
Great job, Rick. You should have a TV show! NASCAR, BUSH, etc etc should sponsor your shows!🏁
It was A LOT of work to put this together, but I really kinda like the end result. And if anybody wants to talk about what we could do with the show, I’m listening! rick@thescenevault.com!
It's Not Cheating Unless Yu Get Caught😂😂
Thanks For Uploading Rick And Steve
You’re first … as always!
Yes you were cheating and others needed to eat also, not that a Earnhardt has gone with out in decades
If everybody is cheating, then nobody is.
Always liked Michael waltrip , forever without. A win ,,,,,then he got in good equipment and wham 2 Daytona wins,,,he does let a bit of silliness show in the golf cart interview 🎉🎉🎉🎉
No matter what anybody thinks about Michael Waltrip, my heart hurts to think of him winning his first Cup race in the circumstances he did.
How do you think Petty won all those races?
There’s a photo of Dale with his foot hooked under the front air dam while techs are checking ride height. It ain’t cheating until you get caught.
@@ChristopherTreadway Dale's arms folded, talking 💩 with the techs the entire time! 👍🤣🤣🤣
Yea a lot of things were done back then those were the years
I was there didn’t see it actually happen. But my dad told me and my brother not to look. Because he thought Michael was dead. Then he says lord in heaven look at that. And I seen him standing in the middle of scrap metal. Amazing memory.
I've seen this one time or another. My uncle might have talked about it but I don't know. I saw it on ESPN Ultimate NASCAR: Speed and Danger. I don't think anybody really knew you could put someone in the wall or into the opening of the wall like that. But at least Michael Waltrip got out of it alive. Way back when Bristol still used asphalt for the surface.
The footage isn’t exactly common, but it’s out there. Robert’s story behind the accident, as he mentioned, had never before been told.
If you aint pushing the limits you aint winning
So you blame Bodine, but admitted he ran over something and like Bodine or not he could wheel a car. Bodine gets hurt, you bring in Ellis says hes not running well. Motor builder is a con artist. Owner is an idiot for supposedly making you put the motor in the car. Lets see....oh wring guy is holding the calculator on the engine tear down. Who else can you blame......this guy is totally an ego driven asshole.
I would say that was a poor design, they had there at that gate that should not have happened !
I saw Tony on another UA-cam channel where they went to the old Bahari race shop. He seems like a great guy, great stories.
He definitely has his moments!
Mr.Rudd won the race at PIR in 1996 Dale took 3rd most the drivers talked to me but Mr. Rudd wood not so my fanship for him came to an end but Mark Martin talked to me for 20 minutes man you talk about a class act. He was such a nice guy. Richard Petty talked to me for at least 10 minutes. But back then racing was fun you never new who was going to hit who but Rest in Piece Dale Sr no matter what they all say without you The fans wouldn't of even came to the track. They loved you hated you wanted to see you wrecked or win but they all came to see Mr. Earnhardt
Ricky must've had another pressing commitment or somewhere to be, because he wouldn't ordinarily blow off a fan like that.
@TheSceneVault I would like to agree with you but he was just sitting by his hauler. Maybe he had something on his mind but I didn't ask for an autograph or try to get close for a picture I simply said good luck, Mr. Rudd be safe. I made my decision based on simplicity a thumbs-up wave nod of the head but I got nothing. I did not say anything bad about him in the comments that I made. Don't get your back up save it for someone who knows nothing about NASCAR and says something stupid or cruel. The sport was not very popular back in the days when I started being a fan the cars were just like mine other than the engine. They had bumpers and headlights they were stock cars, not Gen 5 race cars that are not anything like the car you drive. I have Mr. Rudds Tide ride in my 1:24 scale collection
I was watching this Busch race. I first thought Mikey was dead. He gets out, and says " can we get it back together?"
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that one was a total loss.
@TheSceneVault This car was at the Talledega Hall of Fame museum for years. I don't know if it is still there. Totalled is right!
@g-mang-man7924 The last I heard, it was still on display there.
@@TheSceneVault Deja vu 13 years later with Harmon. Car was half gone and Sauter had to evasivsly manuever away from the expose Harmon.
I can remember Daryl Waltrip shitting himself on that accident on the commentary. Rightly so ofcourse. BUT WHY was there a gate there like that. Gates are supposed to be contiguous. Is this the same opening that killed Adam Petty? I had stopped watching Nascar by then and just saw the shorts. Just about every dirt track in the US has these stupidly dangerous gates etc. The insurers if noone else should get into them. Here in Oz most of those tracks would not pass for soapbox derby racing let alone motorracing
I've known Gary his whole life. He's a walking miracle. He lived on a dirt street in the poorest neighborhood In High Point, NC. (Ennis St). He has an amazing story. His brother lived with us for years.
Mike Harmon had a wreck in the same area
I was there, so scary
the gate entrance wall
Michael thought Robert was gonna give him the outside.
Michael almost went all the way THROUGH the outside wall!
the only thing you could hear were people sobbing - it was surreal - we all thought he was dead
Mike's like his brother, an ass
I wanted to say thank you for sharing. Y’all do a great job.😊
Thank you very much. We’re trying our best!
I Remember that alliance race shop same location as school. On us 25 like 20 feet from the road old ABF trucking terminal. No AC could stop at night long as you are behind the chains could stay as long as you want.
Where was it in relation to Jack Ingram’s shop?
I was in turn 4, It was so quiet. I can remember hearing a woman crying. It was my first race.
We were just a few yards to your right, right at the start-finish line, about halfway up.
There is ALWAYS a backstory and now we know!
@@sandiestep1787 That’s what we’re all about at The Scene Vault Podcast … the backstory!
Spelling lessons are in order for whoever wrote the title of this video. Come on, Rick and Steve. You guys know how to spell. Thank you for your video. ❤
Already caught that and corrected!
Y'all misread the story he was huffing it during the races
Holy crap! Lucky guy!
Wow what a wreck, but what a story!
Wrecks at races tend to run together, as many as I’ve witnessed. The two in which the drivers survived that will ALWAYS stand out will be this one and Geoff Bodine’s truck crash at Daytona.
Thanks For Uploading Rick And Steve
Thank you for watching!
Who wasn't using it back then
This sounds like 100% bullshit
Racing is cheating so to speak. Always looking for an edge to win.
I was there
So was I!
Back when racing mattered. Nowadays, I just watch a little, but it's not like it used to be. Playoffs? Come on. Let's see the best driver win the cup.
I remember this. A real miracle.
BIG TIME miracle!
Robert should have asked ole DW what happened at Pocono with the #28 that's what intentional looks like
Bobby Allison ABSOLUTELY thought that one was intentional.
DW said he took it from Bobby and he wasn’t going to take it from Davey so it was intentional.
Considering DW had just been on his roof a year before. I highly doubt that was intentional
