Saw them 13 years ago on Congratualtions Tour in Pomona. Now live in LA and got to see this show yesterday. Worth every year and second of waiting. They’re so damn good live now, always have been. What a PRODUCTION yesterday. God damn 🥲
@@natashanabein🎉 🎈 🎉 It’s my birthday too - Thank you!! I think it’s appropriate that this album - which changed my life forever - was also born on this day! ❤
@@natashanabein honestly I don’t understand why it bugs people so much. I’ve been to so many shows & phones aren’t distracting. I’m so enthralled in the performance that I’m unaware of my surroundings tbh. Maybe that’s just me idk.
There was a band who came in for some songs. Also they are just two guys who sung over tracks 15 years ago. It’s honest. I went for them, not some synth quartet (imo at least)
@@natashanabein yeah I remember but it works for a small venue where you are starting out and playing for like 150 ppl which I saw at my college, for a big stage seems kinda uninteresting, glad I miss this now, lol
they look like weird popstars doing this, like imagine tame impala, metronomy, or hot chip where is just them singing along to their tracks instead of playing, wouldn't you find that weird at all?
@@natashanabein pretty sure their first album was a parody of modern pop music. They never intended to be serious with it, but the mainstream listeners swallowed it up. Yet they really came into how they wanted to sound on their second album which is musically superior
@@leafbelly not really. If you know anything about their beginnings they formed mgmt as a joke in college and wrote “stupid songs” to take a jab on the state of rock and pop music. Not that complicated if you know how the group original intentions
@@Bearedd I am aware of their distaste for their first album (I was very shocked they were playing it through live). I recall them saying “if you like our songs you don’t like MGMT” because of it way back in the day. However I’m still curious what makes Ryan Russo (oc) think that you can tell both that they hate the song and don’t want to be famous based on their performance. I’m curious what about this video says “we hate this”. Just genuinely curious!

Unreal, I hope one day they’ll perform Congratulations again!
@@natashanabein me too! Maybe we’ll get a special show/tour like this one eventually
Unbelievable PRODUCTION - Pure Art!! What absolute joy it was to watch them live!! Praying they do Congratulations as well one day! ❤
Oh my goodness. What an experience. I am so happy for you!
@@ANDRE1mang thank you so much! It was unreal. I am still so grateful to have been able to see them!

Now let´s have some fun!!!!!
R2-D2 was really enjoying himself at the show, ey?
I hope they tour again so I can see them live
With the new album drop I’m certain they will
So wonderful to see this 2023 version of MGMT's marvellous 'Time to Pretend' song.
I grieve in stereo.
This looked so much fun, wish I went even I live 30 minutes away😂
MAAAN I literally drove 5h to fly out from Toronto Canada for this show!!! It was DEFINITELY worth going
We flew out from NYC. Totally worth it! Pure magic!!
@@natashanabein Drove from minnesota lmaoooo
❤
Love mgmt
Omg it looks just like me as baby
I was in the front also very epic
I miss the days of sneaking in my video camera and recording shows with no obstructions, now all i see are phones in the air, it ruins everything.
I mean… if it weren’t for phones you wouldn’t have this video to comment on! But I understand

MGMT is like a drug for me
Same, I went sober for this because they ARE the drug
❤❤❤
so many phones
Do u know the name of that techno song they played?
4th dimensional transition, maybe?
@@BubblegumDog_ that was it thank u
Looks like an AI generated video in the back.
It must be! It also feels like how I’d imagine an acid trip
So there wasn't a full band for this? just them singing on top of backing tracks? pretty underwhelming tbh
I sadly agree with you 100%

You can really tell they A. hate this song, and B. Don't want to be famous
