I love MGMT ❤️ maybe it's just because I'm a fan but they have to be one of the most underrated and misunderstood bands of the last 20 years. Love how they do something completely different each album despite losing fans. It's killing me though how each album takes like 5 years now 😩 Can't wait to see what they do next, from this show it looks like a fun new era for them.
This was specifically a performance piece for their first album. It was a set at the Just Like Heaven festival. First time they've ever performed without their usual band, but five of the songs had a full band, some were karaoke, and one was a techno mix.
Probably one of their best songs. Actually, nothing has topped that EP. That being said, they really didn't do much with this performance. Perhaps it's the fact that I have never seen them live or even a live recording, but it's kinda disappointing that their live performance is just a playback and they're walking around the stage.
