I dont think this story is as fucked up as the others. I think the story that your Mother wouldnt allow you to but new ones is curious village. There is a murder almost on screen!
P.K. tendo First of all, I want to clear up your ideas of what the 2nd trilogies stories are. Last Specter's story was that a monster was attacking the city of Misthallery at night. Miracle Mask's story was that a "Masked Gentleman" is performing "dark magic" which terrorizes the city of Monte d'Or. The thing about Randall wanting to die is fals. The reality is that it was a part of the backstory to this game which is that Layton and his best friend Randall investigated ruins years ago and Randall accidentally fell into a pit and died. Yay. Azran Legacy's story was that in the past, there was a civilization that developed highly highly advanced technology (the Azran), but for some reason their civilization was destroyed, forcing humanity to start building technology from scratch. In the present day, Layton and co. sought out the remains of this advanced civilization. They do seem far fetched, but so does a town full of robots, a deadly box and time travel. And since this is Layton, all three of those 2nd trilogy mysteries have logical explanations, and since the entire "advanced civilization" plot point of Azran Legacy is possible. even in our world, (it's just not happening) it doesn't need an explanation.

And the miracle mask thing Wasnt far off iether: he Wasnt talking about the flashback but when they "defeated" descole, dont know excactly what happend but he fell in a hole when (i think) Henry Pulled him out, while randall was saying stuff like "why would you save me? I deserve to die with what i dont to you, my friends!"
Just beat this, loved it as much as the first game. The entire experience is so warm and intriguing it just makes you feel good. Terrific games, shouldn't be missed by anyone.
you know what? I became a fan of this at JCpenney. I got tired of playing cats, and asked my sister if I could play this. As soon as I started playing, My heart was set!

One person got lost at the curious village, three got off at the wrong stop on the molenty express, Pandora's box killed two, and Emmy kickboxed one to the ground!! XD

All of the parts in Pandoras box that were set in London have background and cpu characters that have modern clothes and equipment... I remember one lad wearing a jogging suit and having a pair of earbuds in. However, most of the action in the first two games are based in the countryside, towns which make me think of the many small, isolated hamlets in England that exude a different time.

@0o0o0matt0o0o0 The game is based in modern times. If you don't see in the very beginning, Professor Layton is equipped with a car driving down downtown London. I suppose it is because of how everything is in the countryside for most of the game that leaves players to confusion, yet Folsense has electricity 50 years prior to the events of the game, so it would be at least within the 1950s, but then again, you have Eternal Diva and the cruise ship.
@meercutio US and Japan title- Professor Layton and the Diabolical box European tittle -> Professor Layton and the Pandoras box - based on the greek mythology, Pandora opened a box with all of mankind's hatred and evil, which would bring death to anyone who opened it. The European title makes alot more sence than the other title huh?
in the courious village could you only hear the main theme when you have to touch the screen when you start a new game, maybe its also on this game? sorry for my bad english
