(UPDATE) In celebration of this video reaching 10k views, I give you: Puzzle # 003: 40 Picarats This arrangement contains references to 3 other tunes from Curious Village - can you find them all?
A yess, a true gentlemen not only does the accordion solo flawlessly, but introduces the movie variation of the ending to start his own improvized section. What a chad: 100 picarats earned!

@@stephaniejanong4146 CORRECT! You get 50/50 Picarats! and... ANOTHER PUZZLE!!! Puzzle # 002: 30 Picarats There's actually an 8th super secret hidden hint coin (and not that I totally mis-counted the number of hint coins I put in my own video >_>). This last one is a bit trickier - can you find it?
Thank you! Professor Layton is one of my favorite game series, and I've been wanting to cover this tune for over 10 years, so a lot of love went into this project. :D
THIS IS SO GAS!!! actually the coolest cover i've seen; the arrangement to the visuals... it's so good. i'm layton-maxxing and trying to play all the games for the first time since childhood in preparation for new world of steam and i think youtube knew and recommended me this cover because of it; couldn't have happened at a cooler time, this genuinely knocked my socks off. checked out your channel and saw you also did accordian rising tower and even snipperclips as weird al! absolutely incredible stuff man :)
Wow, thank you so much! I appreciate all the kind words for this project, and that you checked out my other stuff too. :D Have fun replaying the Layton games!
When the double bass came in... PERFECT! Love your little improv segments too! A few years ago I bought a Hohner Contessa II with the intention to repair it and learn how to play but it's a proper ridiculously complicated instrument (to both repair and play!!), and so the sheer amount of skill in this video is insane! Would love to see you tackle the Pandora's Box theme with an arrangement like this!
Wow, thank you! Yeah, the accordion is no joke and takes a lot of investment to maintain and repair, but it's the most fun I've ever had with music. And yeah, I'd love to do both the PB and LS themes in the future (though I don't know if I'll go all out like I did with this project)! Also, thank you again for all your work in upscaling the beautiful art from this series. I was wildly impressed going through everything you've done - it was hard to try and stick with just the CV scenes. XD
Stunning arrangement!! There's so many highlights i can mention, but my brain keeps coming back to that pause at 4:50, it's SO GOOD!!! Also that transposition near the end is a very welcome surprise!
Wow, thank you! Yeah, it's amazing how much impact a little silence can add to a piece, and I love adding tasteful key changes where I think it makes sense. ^^
Found your video as suggested while looking for some Layton OST while working, then I thought "Sometimes I find hidden gem artists, I'm gonna take a look to this video maybe I'm gonna get a surprise" and OMG my jawn fall down to the floor literally. I took a look to your other videos and they are so great!!! You got a new sub, keep it up!!! 😄
This is one of the most incredible covers I've seen, period... crazy that it was done by a single person! Hope the video and you get the recognition you deserve
Thank you so much! This project took me about 5 months, and is definitely one of the most involved videos I've ever done, but I'm super happy with how it turned out. :D
Thank you! This was truly a passion project that's been in the works for some time, and it was a blast to finally put together. The perfectionist in me can find dozens of things I wish I had done better, but overall I'm happy with how it turned out. :D
Sir this is amazing!! 😍 I can't fathom the amount of work that went into this, mad respect! I honestly want to learn the accordion only for this. By the way, the implication here that all those puzzles are in reality just Layton solving random, unrelated puzzles from the toy store while serious stuff is happening all around, is really funny to me 😂😂
Thank you so much! Playing the accordion is the most fun I've ever had with music - I highly recommend it to anyone who's interested. And yeah, I try my best not to take my videos too seriously; in this case, I loved the process of making up my own Layton puzzle-solving story using all the logic puzzles my SO and I collected over the years. XD
Wow Brendan, this is really on point! Love the entire thing from the music to the visuals, to the puzzle section you added! Genius! The modulation at the end was a really nice touch as well! The professor does look mildly unhinged in some parts, hahah.
Hah! Thank you - I didn't have a plan for the video when I made the arrangement, but the puzzles worked out quite well with the scripted solo section. I also try to make key changes interesting when I add them - in this case pivoting from Cm to Em (and back) seemed to just fit, plus it lays well on both hands of the accordion.
One of these days, I REALLY need to play Professor Layton. If it's any consolation, I DID play the Phoenix Wright crossover because I admired both series but was more familiar with Phoenix.
If you like AA and enjoyed the crossover, then I highly recommend the rest of the PL series. And especially if you enjoy the more story-driven aspect of AA, I suggest checking out the PL Eternal Diva movie (which you can find elsewhere on YT).
I got REALLY lucky and found the coat, pants, AND shirt all at the the same time at a local thrift store. The coat is actually a women's jacket, which oddly works because the added shoulder pads help mimic Layton's accented shoulders - the hard part was keeping the collar popped up during the puzzle shots... ...actually no, the REAL hard part was wearing the coat and accordion when it was 90°F.
EDIT: Sheet music for solo accordion is now in the description! I need to edit the sheet music a bit - when I'm done I'll upload and add a link to the description. :)

This is amazing, you have put out so much work for cover and I respect that a lot.
Editing must have been rough but it really came out amazing.
