Slow cook[er] split peas overnight and you get the perfect texture. Fry the spices [garlic, onions, jeera/cumin, cloves, cinnamon stick, hot peppers, tumeric etc.] in a separate pot with a dash of oil until the onions and garlic are slightly brown. Add soup mixture to spice pot, adding salt & pepper to taste. serve with deep fried chicken or fish tossed in flour and curry powder, salt & pepper and voila !
Hey Chris Love the show!!! I live in the states and wanted to know where I can buy a Trinidadian Swizzle Stick....any sugestions maybe online stores you can recommend.
Love it!! So many memories from watching my mom in the kitchen!
Easy and taste good too. For those of you dont like soup these thick soups eat like a meal. You can spoon it over rice or pasta if you like.

If you in Brooklyn it should be easy to find in the Flatbush area. Plenty of Caribbean stores around.
You can find everything in new York, liberty.
A dual gutney is better than a swizzle stick.
Mordenized cooks use an immersion blender.
Online try Amazon you will find everything there.
