Yes, your guitar may need setting up by a guitar engineer. Find your local engineer and ask for a basic set up :) Your intonation may be out.

Yeah I agree. I was wondering what exactly are you doing to make the "slap". Are you hitting the pick against the strings?
Eric Dong The slap sound is made by hitting your right hand's thumb onto the top string and having the string make contact with the fretboard.
